Thanks to owners Paulina and Norman for making this a perfect trip away. The property was very comfortable, clean and well equipped. Stairs are steep as is usual in a period property. Beautiful ensuite bedrooms on two floors, top floor - mind the beam! Woodburner and comfortable lounge furniture with large dining table , kitchen with stunning views over the garden, and very useful lobby and downstairs convenience. The swimming pool was sheer delight!. My dog enjoyed the stroll via the quiet lanes to the Cretingham Bell where we all enjoyed out tasty meals. I hope we can return soon.

Such an amazing little place for a get away and relaxation, dont let the photos decive you as this place is more beautiful than photos show. The owners Pauline and Norman are such lovley freindly people and will help in anyway possible. Both of our children loved this place and wanted to stay longer. I think the only not bad but not good thing was eventhough it says heated pool it is a bit on the cold side even after being in it a while so could do with going up a couple of degrees. I know there not meant to be baths but warmer would be better :) the surrounding of the pool is nice and warm and your able to take you own pool toys/ floaties and have access when ever you like. Theres a small tv in the sitting room but we never used it as you have a beautiful view when the log fire is lit or just relax in the garden with the wildlife around you.
Thanks for such a wonderful time at your cottage we will definitely be back.

Beautiful period property with stunning views of the countryside. We enjoyed a very relaxing week here, in the comfort of spacious, well decorated rooms and we made the most of the wood burner on cooler evenings. Our teenage boys loved the private pool and we all enjoyed the garden and nearby meadow, where our puppy was able to run freely. Everything was provided for a comfortable stay, and cleaned to the highest standard. Set in a beautiful location, this peaceful property is a great base from which to explore the English countryside.

First of all, the first impression was Pauline herself who was very welcoming & showed us around the cotttage & how things worked. The Yew tree cottage is a very lovely cottage with it's own swimming pool, garden area, pond with fishes, cats running around, a swing, it's barn area, some sheep & chickens and obviously the nice owners. My kids 8 & 4 year old thoroughly loved their time whilst there especially swimming in the pool and when Pauline showed us around the lamb & the chickens. The inside of the cottage has it's original features but brilliantly modernised where you won't miss the comfort of a modern home. Overall, the owners are very nice people and caring. The cottage is superb. We had a splendid family time. I would recommend this cottage to anyone without any hesitation.

Had a great time at this property for a long weekend. Plenty to do around and about. Lovely house and very hospitable owners. Pool was a real bonus. As was the use of the surrounding fields to walk our dog. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

It looks like a place you see in the movies, gave me instant hansel and gretel vibes. However its kitted with all the essentials including brilliant WiFi.
We practically lived in the pool. It was lovely, Pauline and Norman are an amazing couple.
Their warmth is felt from the moment you arrive.
They love their home and have ensured you have everything you might need during your stay.
We loved the cosy vibes of the beautiful original house, the rooms were lovely. The pool was the highlight as the kids just didn't want to get out.
The showers in the pool were so handy and powerful. We didn't get to try out the house showers!
Loved having a cuppa with Pauline and Norman and discovering more about them and the house.
We stayed 3 nights and hope to return in the summer for 7.

We booked to stay at Yew Tree cottage as it came with use of the owners indoor pool and communicating with Pauline was very simple. She was quick to answer questions, we managed to have difficulty paying but sorted that out with VRBO (in Texas in the end!).
We arrived late as already agreed and there had been some local flooding, Pauline messaged us to outline where the floods were, it couldn't have been easier!
We arrived and Pauline came round and showed us where everything was and how to manage the pool etc. On the Sunday morning we were shown how to feed the chickens (which we did in the week) and we must say the cottage is lovely.
The cottage is attached to their farmhouse with a locked adjoining door, it is a beautiful timber framed building with uneven floors and beautiful features. There was a wood burning stove for use in the living room and a fully equipped kitchen. There was nothing we needed whilst we were there.
I can thoroughly recommend Pauline and Norman's cottage, they are immensely nice people and very accommodating, the area is quiet and remote with a pub in the village about a mile away. There are some other lovely villages close by as well!
We had a thoroughly relaxing week in a lovely setting (with lots of swimming!). An amazing break from the rat race!

We had the most wonderful holiday staying at Yew Tree Cottage in Cretingham.
The cottage is spacious and full of character and has everything you may need for a relaxing holiday.
We enjoyed days out at Bawdsey, Bressingham and Thorpeness where we took out a rowing boat around the huge lake. There is also mini golf there at the golf hotel just up the road.
We enjoyed going to The Bell Inn in the evenings (20 min walk) which is an excellent friendly pub with a good and varied menu.
Pauline and Norman are excellent hosts and we very much enjoyed meeting them.
The swimming pool is first class and a wonderful treat. So refreshing after a days sightseeing.
We very much enjoyed our holiday here in Suffolk and hope to return again one day.

Sympathetically modernised period building, in a small village, close to an excellent pub. Ideally located for Minsmere and Sutton Hoo

Beautiful accommodation with full of character, and a gorgeous garden and a swimming pool. Pictures do not do justice.
Within easy driving distance - 20 to 40 minutes - to many interesting places. We visited Framlingham, Sutton Hoo, Woodbridge, Orford Ness, Thorpeness boating lake, Sutton Punch Trust and enjoyed a couple of local walks.
Last, but not least, Pauline and Norman are wonderful hosts. Thank you very much for opening up the Yew Tree Cottage for us to enjoy.

Our kids especially loved the butterflies, cats and chickens.

Yew Tree Cottage is a great place to stay. We were only there for 3 nights and would have loved to stay longer. The hosts were very friendly and the cottage was very well equipped and had loads of character. We enjoyed feeding the sheep and chickens and playing with the kittens! The beautiful swimming pool was a real bonus and we enjoyed our late afternoon swims. We had a lovely garden area and we explored other parts of the grounds. The location is very peaceful with a good pub just a mile up the road and easy access to places of interest in the area. Hopefully we will return!

What a stunning property. Set in idylic gardens surrounded by sheep grazing you couldn't ask for more. The hosts Pauline & Norman were such friendly people and would go out of their way to please. The swimming pool and facilities were just as imaculate as the property. Friendly pub in walking distance which does lovely food too. Really could not have asked for more. The added homely touches makes it simply perfect.

Yew Tree Cottage is set in beautiful mature gardens and inside the cottage are old oak beams, a roaring fire and a comfortable nest away from the city.
We loved feeding the chickens, watching the sheep and were lucky enough to see a new born lamb take her first wobbly steps in life.
Pauline and Norman made time to give us a proper taste of rural life with probably the nicest fresh eggs we have ever had!
We spent a pleasant evening with them by their pond, where they told us the wonderful story of their life at the farm.
In the late afternoons we swam in the pool which was lovely!
Lots of amazing history locally as well and quirky little shops and just down the road a traditional pub which serves wonderful food.
A beautiful and welcoming place to have a short break with first class hosts.

We had the most amazing stay here, Pauline and Norman were the most fantastic hosts. We loved it so much, we are already planning our next stay.
The cottage is really well equipped, the pool was amazing we used it daily twice a day sometimes whilst here. The cleanliness was top class, and the relaxed and beautiful surroundings added to it.
The beds were so comfy and we all slept so well whilst their including my children who shared the loft room.
We loved feeding the chickens and sheep, and loved meeting Dudley the dog. Lots of lovely cats around and ponds to look at. There is also a nice local pub called the bell, which we visited twice, once for my husbands birthday, lovely staff and food.
This really is the most relaxing and amazing stay, we can’t wait to come back. A big thank you Pauline and Norman.

We had a fantastic time at Pauline and Norman's. The house and garden was beautiful, the pictures don't do it justice. The house was clean, spacious and the kids loved the pool.
Our hosts were so welcoming and I would book again in a heartbeat if in Suffolk again.

I went to Yew Tree Cottage with my daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter for a long weekend to celebrate a birthday. The cottage was warm, full of character, very comfortable and well equipped. The owners, Pauline and Norman were very friendly, helpful and hospitable.

A rare and unique find. A beautiful character home set in a quiet location with lovely hosts. The property had everything and more than you could need and ask for, and full of period features. Very good value for money. With the added bonus of a lovely pool to use. Thank you so much.

Wonderful stay, loved the pool, the chickens, the sheep, the lambs, the chickens and dudley! Beautiful even in February - look forward to summer stay xx

So quaint! Spotlessly clean and cosy. We all loved making a fire each evening with the unlimited supply of wood. The pool and it's facilities were amazing! Two separate showers with excellent pressure and heat control, we could easily shower my 3 grandsons and ourselves after a swim so we didn't need to use the cottage bath/shower at all. So lovely to be able to use it as much as we wanted and whenever we wanted with the only restriction being after 9.30am. The dreadful weather went unnoticed! The boys were happy to go to the pool morning, noon and night! Being able to roam the farm at our leisure and play with the many kittens was also a hit with the boys. We all had the most relaxing quality time ever and didn't want to leave. We really hope to return for a week next time. Thank you Pauline for everything you did to ensure we had a perfect break.

We stopped at Yew Tree Cottage for a week. Lovely period property. Everything we needed. Owners were lovely and very helpful. The pool was a nice size and we could use it as and when we liked. The house had a good sized wood burner ideal for November with a good supply of wood.
The local pub (The Bell) was very nice, warm, friendly and very nice food. Unfortunately for us several ‘tourist’ places to go with the kids were shut due to being closed season but we had a great time nevertheless. Would recommend Aldeburgh & Southwold for seafood.
I would certainly recommend the house and area.🙂

Beautiful timbered property in Suffolk
This is such a wonderful timbered property find. Despite the beautiful, old property, all the modern facilities required to make daily life comfortable are available here... including en-suite bathrooms and a beautifully fitted kitchen. There are even all the extras available that add such a special touch to your stay; such as an inside pool, and fresh farm eggs for your breakfast. Add to all that wonderful hosts in Pauline and Norman. A wonderful stay! Highly recommended.

Fabulous rural retreat
We had a fabulous time staying in this gorgeous rural retreat in Suffolk. This was our second visit and we were not disappointed. We find the tranquillity of the location so relaxing. The swimming pool at the cottage is a boon. We visited the coast, Bury St Edmunds and simply enjoyed being at the cottage. Norman and Pauline are wonderfully welcoming hosts. We shall visit again, I am sure.
