MAGNIFIQUE

Blissful Village Stay
As great as the last time....can’t get enough of this very special place and hope to stay again the next time we’re in Bali, away from crowded Ubud but still close enough...only negative was our stay was too short

We'll be back...
Just left a few hours ago and already missing Agung Sawah...the owners have put a lot of care in the place and we appreciated all the details we found in every corner...the location was perfect for our needs...away from crowded Ubud but still a short ride (15 minutes) making it very convenient in case you need to go into town...we have stayed in other villas in the Ubud area (and other parts of Bali) and we're comfortable enough to say Agung Sawah has been the one with the best value...as well as having the best view!

The entrance to this villa is ridiculous, you have to climb a steep muddy filthy area of unkept earth to access the property ,fantastic way to ruin your holiday sandals or cut your feet , the first floor is only accessible from a wrought iron staircase with hot stone tiles to the exterior of the property, so when it rains and this happens a lot in the tropics you get soaking wet when going to your bedroom , there is a beautiful outside shower on the 1st floor that guarantees you will be watched by the team of Javanese builders that have erected a huge industrial office adjacent to this property ,you will not have any privacy staying at villa sawah agung as the locals in the village come and go as they please without announcing their arrival .....some think they are staff i.e. Gardeners employed to occasional pick up leaves ,this they may or may not do at 6am ,9am ,11am or even midnight ,the old lady that seems to want to bless the house with incense and offerings is so intent on making sure the house is blessed, that the guests are often totally ignored even when spoken to in local language ,again no consideration to the fact that you are paying a lot to stay somewhere reported to be quiet and private, the maid a young boy is incapable of locking the property securely ,considering no safe is provided it is amazing that you are not robbed , the pool is leaking so it's cleaner to swim in the local padi field , the house comes without any ceiling fans but advertisers air con in the rooms to ensure that your bodies completely dry out from your tan that you'll definitely get as no shade is provided as the property is badly designed and ventilated , you don't even get cold water on arrival or a welcome by a member of the villas 6 full time ,intruding staff ,shame because the owners seem quiet nice but they aren't around when you will be staying at their villa , one of the most annoying places to have stayed in 20 years of spending time in Bali , be prepared to do your own bed linen because the young boy maid is incapable of provided fresh linen more than once in 10 days and towel ,take your own because only 2 are provided and they are old , also be warned any food you leave in the fridge may also be eaten by the villas staff , the security often party at night when you are not there ,the school opposite compliments the noise of the builders

We had a great time staying here for a week with our friends. The property was well kept and the staff was very helpful. I loved waking up every morning to a beautiful view of the volcano then to enjoy some yoga on the pagoda near the pool. The owner was very helpful in answering our questions and found it easy to travel to central Ubud for some shopping. I would love to visit again!

We stayed 5 nights in the villa. The landscape around the house is absolutely beautiful. The swimming pool was nice and big enough for our son to have fun playing in. The house is very clean and the AC in the bedrooms works well. The guy who cleans stays away for the most part while you're at the house, so you don't feel uncomfortable. In the morning it's a bit hard to sit downstairs because the sun is too intense. We had our breakfasts upstairs where it was cooler. It's too far to walk to town, and we were too nervouse to ride a motorbike with our child, so we hired a driver each time. Generally one way costs around 80k. I guess this price depends on your haggling skills. Anyway, it's the price one pays for being out in the the beautiful countryside. Ubud itself is too chaotic for my taste, so I didn't regret the distance too much.

The house is situated in a beautiful area. Really beautiful! You can see a volcano and the greenest rice fields. The house looks just like the photos. Kitchen is good and beds are very comfortable. The pool is nice and refreshing too. We found the downstairs area to be a bit too sunny. Perhaps this is better in the rainy season. Curtains downstairs would help al lot. We got massages at the house too and they were pretty good. You should know that it's quite far from Ubud. We took one of these informal taxix each time which took about 15 minutes. Dispite the distance I think it's nicer to stay outside of Ubud. It's really too touristy in town. So the distance isn't a bad thing actually.
