A very easy and peaceful setting. Lovely kitchen staff very proactive to accommodate all needs. To stay overnight in the garden is a fantastic opportunity to experience the change of light and sound at dawn and dusk. The walk with a scientist or guide, in my case Rudolfo, was extremely informative and a pure joy.

Beautiful setting in the botanical gardens. Wish we had more time to stay and look around more.
Food was nice but a small cafe to sit and have a coffee or a cup of tea would be lovely.

Peaceful location 7 km outside San Vito with beautiful gardens surrounded by forest. Plenty of birds and other wildlife. Free morning guided walks and a collegiate atmosphere at mealtime.

I loved this place! Quiet, directly in nature, I could spot birds from my balcony. The room was well equiped and the natural materials from which the buildings and rooms are made, exude a wonderful soothing atmosphere. The breakfast (typical Costa Rican with additional fruit and cereals) is served in the canteen with the possibility to spot hummingbirds. The staff is very friendly and helpful. You can walk several trails in order to enjoy wildlife and tranquility. I will come back!

The breakfast was average. The gardens were spectacular
Reception was closed due to low occupancy so no one was around to ask for information

the grounds were absolutely gorgeous and we loved the complementary tour after breakfast
a bit pricey for what it was. bug screen was not super effective and breakfast is from 6:30-7:30, only 2 parking spots for many cabins

Friendly staff- they accommodated an early morning coffee and a late breakfast which was so helpful.
The room had 3 single beds so my partner and i were SO uncomfortable all night (since we prefer sleeping together). I would recommend the hotel take those out and put in a double or Queen. Also there were many ants including many in the bathroom which made it very inhospitable. We were there to hike the long trails for birdwatching but they had a “do not enter gate” so we thought we couldn’t use the trails. Later in the morning we asked a senior staff and she said guests can use the trails. Would have been really nice to have that on the map or else to take down the “do not enter” sign and replace with “researchers and guests only”

The staff were so friendly here, and it's a pleasure to stay in the reserve! It's a nice breath of fresh air to be in the park and our guide was so knowledgeable about the birds, it's incredible.
It's just a bit of a trek to get here. I took a Tracopa bus from San Jose down to San Vito (stopping along the coast), then a taxi from San Vito down to Las Cruces Biologic Reserve. When I arrived after dark, they had everything ready for me and it's nice and quiet in the reserve.

Great location, easy access right off the road towards San Vito. Expansive, pleasant gardens with options to walk into the jungle for birding. The rooms are big and airy, and tastefully appointed with balconies facing the forest. Plain wood walls and furnishings are a relief from the over-bright colours of most other hotel rooms in CR.
A hot-pot (hot-water heater) would be nice for making tea or coffee in the rooms.

Awesome stay for my family. I have a three year old and one year old. We saw tons of birds and hiked the property and the lookout tower was so cool!
Breakfast was salty

The food was good. The natural forest setting is wonderful. Great location for birds.
It is difficult to hike the half kilometer long sidewalk back to the cabins in the dark after dinner. Luckily it was not raining and we did not encounter any dangerous creatures along the walkway. It was kind of cool though, I guess. I suggest driving.
