Great location. Plenty of lounges and lovely bar area and restaurant. Great food and staff.
I was in the single room, number 11. During a heavy rainfall, the ceiling started to leak and drip down in my room. I understand this is an older building but I don’t expect that in a four star hotel.

Would stay agin amazing staff fab rooms
Best hotel
4.1
Staff were brilliant, very friendly
Our room was very small , would have made a better single room . We didn’t go down to breakfast until 9.00 but the bacon and black pudding were both solid and the egg was hard . The toast was undercooked and very limp

The way showing property in booking.com it wont match so I can’t recommend to other and the hotel manager was telling us what I book prestige room was sold same day when I booked

The location
A bit pricy, staff was a bit too serious, smile 😊
4.1
- Cath at breakfast was fantastic as was michaela on reception.
- Hotel decor very nice but was tainted by the lack of customer service by manager/owner.
- Location for walkers/ tourists
- Customer service by lady manager/owner. Abnoxious and refuses to hear that her or her team have done anything wrong. Refuses to hear that there is anything wrong with the hotel. Despite serveral complaints made such as 12 wasps found in our bathroom which prevented me from using the bathroom one morning and couldnt shower. No alternative room provided. A pipe constantly banging against the wall throughout the night in room 25. Vegetarian afternoon tea mixed on a plate with the non-vegetarian option. No basic food safety standards, no common sense and no compensation offered. Just a constant apology and that she would let the relevant team know. But as a manager/owner which she was trying to keep under wraps (no name badge on her either like the rest of the staff) I expect better due diligence and problem solving skills for a £500 2 night stay! For that price I expect better standards and customer service.
- No lift! Had to carry suitcase over 2 flights of stairs whilst pregnant.
- No information provided for whats local to do for walkers/ tourists. No maps on site, nothing. Basically, on your own to figure out.
- Dress code to enter the dining room for tea. Unfortunately as I was here to be tourist I didn't bring a ball gown so couldn't dine in here as wouldn't have met the dress code to enter. Formal wear only. Again for a hotel portraying themselves as high end, the standards did not match.
- Lack of tea bags in the room so if you drink alot of tea expect to ask for more.

It's a beautiful hotel that's quiet and relaxing
Slightly warm in rooms but fans provided

Hotel was clean, had everything I needed and staff were really friendly and accommodating
Rooms way too warm for sleeping at night, 16C with rain all day, so at night was about 10-11C outside, had to open window and sleep under blanket instead of duvet, fan was provided in the room

Lovely location with good views from our balcony. Private parking. Staff was nice and helpful. Albeit small in size, the room was very nice.
Shower pressure was awful. Bedroom was too warm (we needed to use the fan all the time).

Amazing location, welcoming staff.Good food.
nothing

location, peaceful

Pleasant staff and the food was very good.
The prestige room we booked was not as advertised, instead of a view of Derwent water we got a view of the yard and the room was very dark and depressing. After complaining we were moved to one of the smallest rooms in the hotel, but did have a view of the lake. After asking, we were credited with the money difference, but this was not applied at checkout, so we had to explicitly ask for it. This is not acceptable.

Everything we only had one night there wish it was a week
Nothing was all good
4.1
Location, breakfast
We paid for a prestige double room, on the photos it was big and spacious.
When we got there it wasn't, the bathroom was tiny, so tiny infact you banged your knees on the door while sitting on the toilet. The room was very cold and the bed was like sleeping on a rock, very uncomfortable and very disappointing, definitely not worth the price we paid for prestige.

At breakfast, booked for 0930, arrived at 0925,has to wait 20 minutes before we got our cups of tea and 30minutes for breakfast to be served, the toast was the best thing served which we got 5 minutes after our breakfast, the full English was disappointing, needles to say, the following morning we skipped breakfast and drove into keswick, and bought a bacon and egg sandwich each from a mobile burger van, which was well worth our money

the place is so lovely and the view is magnificent.

Great breakfast and staff were all very helpful.
Very comfy beds and appreciated the call prior to check-in to confirm bed layout.
The decor throughout is of a very high standard and has a lovely cosy feel.
Could do with a car park sign on both access routes - e.g. we went past the hotel while looking for parking and it was only on coming back the other way (with the hotel on our right) that we saw the sign for hotel parking at the rear.

Just everything was perfect!!!!!!!
My wife and I would have preferred to have had a soup for our starter but there was not one on the menu, also it was very dark in the car park and it was very late before the lights were switched on.

Friendly staff, good atmosphere. Good evening menu and wine selection. Great location.
Breakfast selection both the buffet and from the kitchen very limited.
4.1
The breakfasts were wonderful, being varied and plentiful
The evening meals were a little disappointing eg. the beef pie had hardly any meat in it and the lentil bake was served up not as advertised. Perhaps it was me but the guinea fowl dish was rather uninspiring in view of the cost
4.1
it’s location
no space to even open one suitcase comfortably !! Attitude of some staff. Kevin on the bar Friday was excellent as were Chloe and also Kayla on reception. The man George needs training in attitude and manners … he should not be in a front of house hospitality role. I even overheard him say to a staff member “memo to myself, improve attitude” while laughing. Disgraceful.
4.1
The breakfast was generous and tasty. Dinner was great on the Friday night. The rooms are good but a little shabby however I understand the hotel will be closing for a refurb which I look forward to seeing. Staff were always friendly and efficient.

I loved the garden terrace and location
The room we had was very small and the view was spoiled by a fire escape right outside the window so I felt like this particular room was overpriced in comparison to other hotels we have stayed in at Hawkedhead Buttermete Keswick Ambleside and Windmere. In addition when we had breakfast the waitress was very abrupt and a little rude in her attitude toward us and didn’t seem keen on our dog even though we had been told it was fine to bring her into the conservatory.

Location
Grumpy initial receptionist. Small room. Pretentious restaurant with average food.

Brreakfast very good
Room too hot
4.1
The staff are excellent, very warm and friendly. Food is also excellent and good value for the money breakfast and dinner
We upgraded our room to classic but still found it to be quite small. We have stayed here quite a few times over the years and love it but we will probably stick with the standard room in future.
