A nine bedroom townhouse a few minutes walk from the centre of Portimao town which was perfect for our holiday with three generations of family. The rooms are large with furniture which suits the size and age of the building and all but one of the bedrooms are en-suite (the one which is not does have its’ own bathroom just along the corridor). The pool and outside area are of a good size and well equipped with large table, plenty of chairs and sun loungers.

Fabulous place to stay, so close to lots of amenities and places to eat. We all enjoyed our stay (ages 8 months to OAPs). Galina was so helpful. Highly recommend.

We loved staying at the Casa. We were 8 older gents who have been friends for 55 years and we were on a golf trip to the Algarve. The house was exactly as advertised and it suited our purposes perfectly. I have already recommended it to other groups who are coming to the Algarve for golf. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Thanks for all your help.

Thirteen people, all over the age of 70, had a reunion at this house and we all enjoyed it. The house itself is clean, well-equipped and is in a convenient location in a charming town. There are several fine restaurants in easy walking distance, the best being in the next street, Da Tocha. The house was excellent value and we would certainly consider booking it again sometime.

This large home in the heart of Portimao nicely accommodated a group of 15 of us. John was great to work with and responsive as a few things arose during our stay. Each bedroom has an en-suite bath and the pool was a nice reprieve from the heat. The location was perfect for getting all around the area. As others have reported - there is street noise so light sleepers should choose the bedrooms on the pool side of the house. It was unseasonably hot when we were there but once we got the house opened up and all the ceiling fans going it was comfortable. During the check in process be sure and ask for basic instruction for using some of the key appliances (otherwise you could end up with long long wash times when using the washer and dishwasher). Also, the kitchen could use some sharper knives and a good cleaning of the cupboards but otherwise there are plenty of dishes, utensils, cookware and serving dishes for a large group -- we did a fair amount of cooking. Restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores, gelato, buses etc. are all very close to the home and there was no need for a car. If you don't want to bring your own pool/beach towels John can help you. We used a local travel agent (ATS Travel) for airport transfers and a day trip to Sevilla and that worked out great. The mid-week freshen up by the housekeeper was nice. We'd definitely stay here again!

Perfect location to go into town or just chill out - 2 minutes from several gelato and other food places and the river, about 25 minutes walk from the beach. 10 minutes walk to allllll the supermarkets, just a really great place in a wonderful location!

I booked the villa for my 70th birthday celebration. There were 16 family members including 4 grandchidren under 5.There was more than enough space for us all and cots were provided for the 2 babies. The fans were more than adequate for cooling the rooms at night although given the time of the year it was not too hot.
We paid for the pool to be heated and it was well worth it especially for the children. Our 4 year old grandson was in the pool every day and his swimming improved greatly over the week.
The location was good for restaurants and there was a Spar shop 5 minutes walk away.A 10 minute walk into the town revealed a larger supermarket which had eveything required for self catering. The municipal market is open every week day for fruit veg butcher meat and prices are very favourable.
At the bottom of the street and across the road was a wonderful ice cream parlour next to the river.
To get to the beach at pria da rocha required a trip on the number 33 bus which runs from the squre at the bottom of the hill.It costs just one and a half euros for a 20 minute journey.
We had a wonderful week and I can unreservedly recommend this villa

We were with a party of 10 people and we had a wonderful time at the Casa Da Viuva. The house is beautifully restored, furnished, decorated and very clean. Even though the weather was not very good, we could sit outside on the covered terrace. Everybody was happy with their private bedroom with ensuite bathroom and we were impressed with the service. Recommended!

An extremely well furnished and decorated house with a highly professional and loving touch which must have taken some time in planning. We had a 14 number family group and loved every minute of it with no negative comments. Clean, well managed, welcoming, quiet street and excellent swimming pool. The owner happened to be on holiday in his next door property and took time off to give us a tour of his residence which was extremely educating and hugely historical significance. He also gave us information regarding local shops, eating places etc which proved invaluable.]
The cleaner and manager were magnificent and the local people friendly and welcoming in this quiet street free from the usual tourist bedlam. Although this was a town , the local drivers stopped their cars to allow you to cross the street, unheard of in the UK and Spain.
Looking forward to coming back and 10 out of 10 is a fair review.

We stayed at Casa da Viuva in January. The house has been recently refurbished and it offers elegant, comfortable, well designed accommodation arranged around the large main reception room and the kitchen. The house is well stocked and the maid came twice during our stay and was friendly and efficient (she lives in the house next door). The owners were very helpful with written recommendations for local restaurants etc. and it was too cold to go to the beach but the pool was kept very warm. Town is a bit too quiet but the Praia da Rocha beach resort (reachable by can for 5 euros) has plenty of bars.

What a find!
Spent a delightful week in this splendid home. Fully equipped and so
well presented, the contrast between the old house and beautiful decor
really worked.
Good beds, very clean and a really charming and efficient maid, who
handily lives next door.
I especially liked the heated swimming pool, and to see the birds
flitting around the peaceful garden.
Situated in Portimao, an historic port town, great variety of
inexpensive restaurents and the best and biggest ice creams I've ever
tasted.
Fabulous sandy beaches only 5 minutes away, the Dower House was an
ideal base to explore hidden villages and the ancient towns of Silves,
Alvor and Largos.
Planning to have my Mother's 75th Birthday gathering there in May.
Big enough for all the familles and something to satisfy all the age
groups.
I can't wait. Perfect.
