Accommodation is safe and convenient for an overnight stay between Johannesburg and Cape Town. It was really quiet which made for a good night's sleep. The dinner was excellent and everything we needed was available. Staff were friendly and helpful.

The welcome and friendliness of the team at the The Vale was fantastic. The evening meal, a three course meal, was not only value for money, it was a taste delight…awesome!

Nothing, thank you.

“Home cooked” delicious meal for dinner. Comfy bed. Quiet. Cosy. Friendly helpful staff.
The guest house room we booked had an open bathroom which we didn’t like, but we were able to switch to the honeymoon room with a separate bathroom at the same price.

it is perfectly situated on our route driving across the country. Simoné was very communicative and kind. We were given a free room upgrade, a braai upon arrival (with the best meat & potato salad), power was there when we needed it (we arrived in load shedding). the cottage was warm, cosy and the best shower after a long day on the road!
we didn’t stay there long enough

We had a very peaceful time and we could not have felt more welcome. We ordered the braai pack and salad which was brought to our unit for us to braai. Breakfast was at the farm house and it was delicious. Our dog was made to feel very welcome too.
The units are small but that was to be expected. Load shedding was a nuisance but this cannot be helped in South Africa. Our hostess put the generator on for us which helped with a dial-in meeting.

The location was like being in an oasis, a lovely hidden gem. The unit was small but clean and comfortable. The breakfast was far too large for us but very scrumptious, especially the homemade bread and scones. Lovely venue for weddings
There was a lot of mud due to the rainstorm so access from the car to the unit was not easy on foot. The shower was very small and the water did not drain.

Nice setting and very friendly staff.
The room didn't have aircon and since the Karoo is very hot sleeping at night was very uncomfortable.

The location is great. We know the Vale well and have stayed there quite a few times. The staff are great , very friendly, helpful & accommodating. We appreciated the staff allowing us to use their private braai at their home - but not ideal.
This particular room we stayed in is awful. It faces the full afternoon sun with no awning, no patio, and no braai . The room is as hot as hell and of course we also know a shared roof so listening to the neighbours' every move & conversations not great. The fan is inadequate in the December Karoo heat. There is no space to put anything down, especially if you are braaing. There is not even a bin , only a tiny bathroom bin .

Very nice tranquil setting. Great food and the chef and staff are super friendly and helpful.
Rooms built in cluster of 4 makes for noise from adjacent rooms to enter the unit.

Friendly and accomodating staff. Well kept areas around units.
No TV. No air flow in the unit when you go to sleep. Cooled down outside but still hot inside. I suggest a security gate at the door and burglar bars on windows so that you can sleep with the windows and wooden door open. Or provide aircons.

Very comfy big bed. Delicious dinner, really well presented. Very friendly staff. Peaceful and quiet. Lovely mountain bike ride in the reserve.

The staff was very accommodating to move the braai that was located near our room to a better location
The room’s location: It was near the kitchens back door where you can hear the staff sitting and making noise
The bed: With every turn the beds make a noise and you can feel the bed springs
The door to our room: It was not working properly because we struggled to open it. Had to forcefully shoulder the door open
The wifi: The wifi did not reach to our room
The fan in the room: The fan worked but it couldn’t swing, which made it impossible for both single beds to be accommodate
