Simply one of the best accommodations we ever had. Beautiful house with a beautiful private garden. Quiet place even though you are immediately in the center of attractions when you step out of the door. Thanks to our host Alison, who was there for everything in case needed.

How lucky were we that we got to stay in such a beautifully kept home and garden! The house was immaculately clean, and very well stocked with linens and dishes. The garden was enjoyed with it's multiple areas to sit and relax. The landscaping is beautiful, and scented with flowering trees and roses. It was easy to check in and our stay was peaceful and relaxing.

If the historical monuments are the party, this home is the guest of honor. She is adorned with colors abound from the festive garden and inside shines with light from old and new.
The large windows bring in wonderful light and colors from the gardens. The rooms inside are cool and well furnished. The kitchen also has a marvelous view of the gardens and fully equipped. We all enjoyed the fact that the house always had extras of everything. The bathroom is modern and well equipped.
The pool is a jewel amongst the various blooming gems in the garden. It provided reprieve on some of those scorching days.
Alison was a tremendous help on the area, finding transportation and responding in a timely manner.
This house's location was an easy walk to everything, short drive the the beach, and surrounded by much history, it will not disappoint.

Lovely and Central
A beautiful retreat with an easy walk to downtown Selcuk and the various ancient sites. We were family of four with two children. Everyone enjoyed the pool, the terrace and the garden. Our favorite stop on our Turkey itinerary!

We are a family of 5 traveling the world for a year. We have stayed in rental homes all over South America, South Africa and Greece. This charming cottage in Selcuk is one of our favorites! Alison and Memet's hospitality is exceedingly gracious.
We had originally planned to stay for 2 weeks, but loved the place, Alison, and the surroundings, so we added several nights. Two friends who are also traveling met us in Selcuk in their camper, which Alison helpfully allowed us to set up just outside the home's gate. The camper was safe and secure out there, with an electrical hook up.
As cooks and food-lovers, we especially enjoyed the cute, excellently equipped kitchen. Plenty of cookware, utensils, crockery and glasses with a full sized refrigerator and dishwasher. Grocery stores and fresh-food markets are within an easy walking distance, as are wonderful bakeries and sweet shops. We prepared and ate most of our meals in the house including a lovely dinner at the garden table under the stars.
The rooms and beds were comfy. We loved the open closets and chests of drawers; we unpacked and made ourselves at home. We also appreciated the easy-to-use wash-machine, along with the extra bed linens and bath towels.
Thanks to the outdoor living area, the Garden House had space for each of us to carve out a little privacy when needed. The roses were in bloom when we were there, lovely! The swimming pool that is shared with Goldsmith House next door was still a bit cold while we were there, but we still had a great time splashing about, especially after days sightseeing in the sun.
We enjoyed so many ancient sights around Selcuk, most within walking distance of the Garden House. Isa Bey Camii, St. John's Basilica, Selcuk fortress/castle, the Roman aqueduct, Temple of Artemis, Mary's House and, of course, the city of Ephesus a nice hike away. The newly renovated Ephesus museum was absolutely amazing!
Alison also helped us with excursions further afield. She organized a driver and van for us to visit the Roman spa city of Hierapolis and the famous travertines (aka Cotton Castle). She had friends who own a rug manufacturing and sales store host us for a lunch and display of beautiful Turkish rugs (with absolutely NO pressure to buy). She helped us get to the Tire market by dolmus and (for the teens) to Aqua Fantasy, a fun water park.
We absolutely recommend this house to groups traveling in Selcuk. We sincerely plan on returning someday.

My wife and I were looking for a nice house with outdoor space as a comfy base camp to relax between days out in the astonishing nearby ancient ruins. The house is in top order, really clean with modern kitchen and lots of space to sit out in the sun and have meals outdoors. Very private, off the street and easy walk into the town. We thought Selcuk would be boring and dull but instead it gave us an opportunity to see a real Turkish town vs, resort town. Lived off several really good bakeries with their own ovens, diaries with super fresh and thick yogurt and the ladies in the market square that sell fresh veg and fruit. Also giant market on Saturday to explore. Alison was fab in helping us and it really helped that she spoke English. Her office is a short walk from the house, She arranged a car to take us to some of the nearby ruins so if you prefer not to rent a car that is a possibility. Plenty of restaurants in town and Alison will help you out on finding the good ones. We had a fire in the fireplace as day after we arrived was a tad chilly then nice warm sunshine followed. This is a good place to slow down step back and unplug without any hassles. Beer and wine in the grocery stores and if you like a tipple you won't be made to feel uncomfortable. Really lovely coming home to your own smart house in private grounds just off center of town after a day out exploring. Been to Turkey many times but this was different in a good way - highly recommend it.

My husband and daughter and I came to Selcuk for just two days, but wanted the comfort and independence of having a house. I'm not sure which we appreciated more - the modern conveniences of the house (lovely furnishings, brand-new kitchen and bath appliances/fittings and top-notch air conditioning), the rustically comfortable and satisfying covered patio area, or the lush gardens and pool. We also fell in love with the neighborhood, which was a casual mix of lovely renovated homes and guest houses, and the much more modest traditional homes of the local people. Simply wandering in the neighborhood gave us so much pleasure. Alison was a delight to deal with, and gave us some good tips on restaurants and activities. Our only problem with the place was that the kitchen knives were a little old and rough - but since we ate almost every meal out that wasn't a big deal. I just wish we could have stayed longer!

The Garden House is set in a beautiful walled garden with a lovely sheltered outdoor seating area. A 'secret' door leads you to a beautiful little pool. We didn't need help but it was a real comfort to know that we could contact Alison if we did need anything. A very relaxing week!

Lovely Place!
My sister and I stayed in the Garden House for a couple of nights when we were in Selcuk. We loved it. The house was really charming and wonderful. There were two spacious bedrooms, so we had more than enough space for two people to be comfortable. The house has a lot of windows, so it receives a lot of sunlight which makes it very pleasant. There is also a very charming sitting area outside. The furniture is elegant and well-built, and it works well with the look of the place. We did not have a chance to use the kitchen, but it has all the appliances needed for cooking and plenty of counter space. Finally, we had no complaints about the bathroom.
The house is in a good location. It is a short walk from St. John's Church, the bus station and the town center. We were also able to walk to Ephesus in about a half an hour from our place. The neighborhood itself was quite charming. There were a lot of nice textile shops, and a lot of local inhabitants live in the neighborhood, so it was not too touristy.
The owner, Alison, was extremely helpful and hospitable to us. She picked us up from the bus station, gave us a quick tour of the main area of Selcuk, and offered excellent tips for places to see and to eat. She also was very helpful to us as we were figuring out our options for getting from Selcuk to Istanbul.
Our stay in Selcuk was brief, and my sister and I hope to come again to visit a few more sites. We would definitely stay here again without hesitation, and would recommend it to anyone else looking for a place to stay in Selcuk.

Spent a wonderful week in the 'Garden House'. Fantastic location close to historic sights in Selcuk and Ephesus. Lovely pool (shared with neighbours). Enjoyed dinner at some of the wonderful outdoor restaurants, although it did take a few attempts to get a gin and tonic, but the white wine was a good substitute. The children thought it was great to be sitting outside the tea shops playing chess, draughts or backgammon with the locals smiling encouragement! The house was clean and well equipped with dishwasher and washing machine. Definitely recommended and we plan to return once renovation of the Ephesus museum in Selcuk is completed.

We have just returned from a wonderful week spent at Garden House. The house is well equipped, clean and well furnished. The beds are very comfortable and the shower is excellent. There is also the extra benefit of a supply of beach towels. It was very hot during our stay and the electric fans were very efficient at cooling the rooms at night. The small splash pool was good to cool down in and the outside seating area was lovely to relax in late at night. It was wonderful to be in such a peaceful and quiet setting but among other houses. The house is just about perfect for either a relaxing holiday to chill out in the lovely garden feeding the tortoises or to go visiting the many ancient sites nearby with the sea just a short drive away. Selcuk is a lovely town, very friendly and welcoming with a good range of places to eat. Make sure you visit Ejdes for a meal and Nurs next door. Lastly the local cats are very entertaining and seem to take it in turns to spend the day with you! They are very well trained and never once came into the house. Thank you Alison.
