Le confort d'une chambre d'hôtel avec la convivialité d'une auberge de jeunesse, c'était parfait!!!!

Le rapport qualité-prix, le confort, l'emplacement, les équipements, les hôtes, ... Bref tout! Nous partagions un étage entier (avec grand salon, grande cuisine, salle de bain et terrasse) avec une autre chambre seulement.

Loved everything about this charming guest house

My wife and I loved staying at Surf House - just our taste in Lonely Planet old school backpackers accommodation. We had the top front right-hand double room which had a lovely terrace that provided excellent views over the palm trees in the garden towards the sea with The Morne Brabant Rock and a great place to watch the birds and fruit bats flying in the evening. Might need a bit of updating and a few more utensils in the kitchen but was good for us. Supermarket 10 minute walk. A small village which ideally would benefit from hiring a car to get around but we only used the local bus service.

Room needed a bit more lighting in the evening..

Zeer gezellig huis met zeer relaxte eigenaren. Super uitzicht en vriendelijkheid en support.

Andrea en Marco waren zeer behulpzaam als er iets nodig was. Auto huren, kite of surfboards huren, taxi regelen, alles ging heel relaxed. Als er iets was aan onze ruimte, konden we het gelijk vragen en zijn ze altijd bereid om je te helpen. We hadden kamers op de 4e verdieping, deze hadden een zeer mooie uitzicht op de zee. We konden er heel goed koken en lekker dineren met onze buren op de verdieping. Anderen gasten kwamen ook wel eens omhoog om te genieten van het uitzicht, dit gaf een zeer gemoedelijke en social sfeer. Dat maak niet niet overal mee… de broederschap was hier te merken.

Andrea had niet genoeg hulp in de schoonmaak van de ruimtes door de feestdagen, maar hij kwam zelf de Keuken schoonmaken nadat we het hadden vermeld. Ook het tweede pand was een beetje slordig op de begane grond, wat de aankomst iets minder fijn deed aanvoelen. Maar dat vergaten we toen we ons uitzicht hadden.

Friendly place if you are interested on meeting people.

Andrea is super friendly and I felt very welcome among other guests and him. Renting and planning kiting session was so easy.

I don’t expect much, but the facilities to be clean and pillows without stains.

The location and the fact, that the room had an air conditioner.

The cleanliness was bearable. The drain was clogged, which led to hair after shaving being crusted to the sink.

Lo barato sale caro

La ubicación y que desde la terraza superior se veía el mar. Sitio para aparcar cerca

Las fotos subidas a Booking las ha hecho mínimo Spielberg... El sitio lleva sin mantenimiento mucho tiempo. El jardín nada que ver con las fotos ( que al final es lo que más llama la atención para escoger este sitio). Es complicado encontrar el lugar, ya que el Google Maps te manda a la calle de al lado y peor aún, que ni siquiera tienen un cartel en la puerta. Tampoco hay una recepción.... Al final lo encontramos leyendo los comentarios de otros huéspedes y por la similitud de las fotos. También nos resultó raro que un sitio de hospedaje no nos pidieran los pasaportes para registrarnos... No sé si esto es muy legal, la verdad. Nada más llegar, el desorden en la terraza de la primera casa no era ni medio normal... Todo por ahí tirado, puedo entender que tengan una empresa de kite surf, pero el orden no está reñido con tener un negocio. Para acceder a nuestra habitación tuvimos que subir por una escalera de madera exterior, en un poco mal estado. La habitación tenía olor a humedad, por no decir que el baño tenía muchísimo moho y suciedad acumulada. ( Entiendo que sea un sitio barato y accesible para todos los bolsillos, puedo también entender que sea viejo... Pero la limpieza no está reñida... Se puede ser vieja y limpia ). Las toallas que nos dieron olían fatal, a humedad y haberse secado mal. Las fundas de las almohadas olían asquerosamente mal, como si no se hubieran cambiado en mucho tiempo.... El colchón se hundía y era bastante incómodo. El lavamanos fuera del baño, también con sucedida acumulada. La cocina era compartida, junto al microondas había cacas de ratón. ( Entiendo que estás en medio de naturaleza, pero en 4 días que nos alojamos nadie las limpió) . Espero que esté comentario le sirva a alguien y que no se arrepienta como yo de no haber leído los comentarios previos. La terraza superior estaba en muy mal estado, con la vegetación salvaje y muy poco accesible. Nada que ver con la foto de la chica haciendo yoga. Adjunto fotos.

Nice place with friendly atmosphere

House is in a quiet neighborhood with a nice garden, you have everything you need in the house, you can go up to terrace for an amazing sunset. Owner is friendly and helpful, arranged a barbecue at garden for guests.

Good value in a handy location but more of a share house vibe than guest house

The property is well located in La Gaulette, there is space to park for free and the area seemed safe. There are restaurants and a good sized supermarket in a walkable distance however having is the most convenient way to see more of the island. There are lots of things to see and do in the south west of the island. It is a sociable house, more like a share house or student house than a guest house but we met some nice people and there were kittens. The room had air conditioning which worked well and a ceiling fan, sometimes that was all we needed. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the room was a good size overall. There was also a mosquito net and a full length mirror which is very handy, plus plenty of plug sockets which take both British and EU plugs. The WiFi in the room was fine, no issues with reliability or speed. There is access to a washing machine & clothes line which was also useful. It was quiet at night and we weren’t disturbed by any outside noise.

Although it was convenient to have an en-suite bathroom I would actually not recommend this option as I think the bathrooms that were separate were bigger and better equipped. The bathroom in our room was very small and there was nowhere to hang a towel or put a toothbrush - the shelf and towel hanger in the photos are no longer there. The shower is in need of a curtain as it is almost impossible to stop the water going all over the floor. Although the bed was comfortable the sheets didn’t fit properly (it is 2 singles pushed together). I think it would also help to provide information on the room card about where to get clean towels, bedding and loo roll for those that are staying longer. Both the en-suite bathroom and shared kitchen look quite worn and could be cleaner, some of this could be ingrained dirt due to age and wear or lack of deep cleaning. Pool table is nice to have but is warped so you can’t play on it properly.

Ich komme gerne wieder

Es ist ein Guesthouse mit schönem Garten. Ich habe die Küche und Terrasse (toller Ausblick) mit einem anderen Zimmer geteilt. Kein Problem. Viele junge Leute, die man z.T beim eigenen BBQ im Garten kennenlernt. Wie eine kleine Familie auf Zeit. Super, wenn man Leute kennenlernen möchte. Nicht weit vom Supermarkt und verschiedenen Restaurant. Kleine Abstriche bei der Ausstattung, es ist halt kein Hotel. Mir hat die Unterkunft im Ganzen gut gefallen. Ich hatte einen tollen Surfurlaub.

Dirty house

The owner did not come to introduce so we did not know which person it was in the whole shared house. Some lady first accomodated us in the wrong room, there was only one towel and shared bathroom, but it was dirty and run out of toilet paper. So we asked for a room with our own bathroom, which we had, but there was mold on the sink and the shower, the place looked dirty overall. We got even dirty sheet on our bed and I was wondering if the room was cleaned before we came there. It did not see the desinfection for a long time I guess. Even the blanket from the cabinet smelled terrible. In this room there were no towels at all, we had to grab some downstairs in the living room. The shower took a long time since there is so low water pressure and it was impossible to have a pleasent temperature (you have only hot or cold). The kitchen was shared with other people, there was a mess, rest of the food in the sink, unwashed plates, etc. The doors are really noisy, so you cannot really sleep well when sharing the house with other people who doesnt care about the others. The bed was not comfortable at all. The table in our room was broken.

Chill Hang Out for a Great Price

This was a really great option for my wife and I as we spent the week in La Gualette. We're both digital nomad, and we're both kiteboarders, and that seemed to be the case with a number of other people in the house, which was really cool. The wifi was okay. It worked well for the most part, but sometimes it ran slow. I switched over to my mobile data to supplement, and that was fine. The room itself was spacious. Our room was on the top floor, just off the shared kitchen. We had our own bathroom, and a door that led to a shared balcony. There were three other rooms on our floor, and we all shared one kitchen and one small fridge. For the most part, we had enough space for all our stuff, and there were enough cooking utensils for what we needed. There was also a downstairs with more rooms and another kitchen. There was also a living room area in the downstairs, which had some board games, books, videos and a pool table (the pool table was warped, so it wasn't worth playing on). The view from the upstairs balcony was great for watching sunsets.

The walls are pretty thin, so be prepared to sleep with ear plugs if you're an early to bed type person. It all depends on who you're sharing the floor with, but just be aware. Also, it wasn't the cleanest place, and the kitchen utensils were old and very well used, but if that doesn't bother you, then you'll be just fine.

A lovely stay, hopefully we’ll be back one day!

We loved our stay here! Trisha was a great host, always making sure we had everything we needed and sorting any issues out quickly. It was lovely to have her around to chat to and we even went on a snorkelling trip with her one day, which was a lot of fun! We stayed in the anchor room, which had its own en-suite, and it was a great size for us. The shared balcony and garden were wonderful to have, making the house feel like a little oasis and giving you space to relax outside your room. The kitchen had everything you’d need, as well as labelled storage space for each room which made things a lot easier when sharing the space with other guests. We would stay here again, despite it not being super close to many places. I’d definitely recommend hiring a car (which you can do at the property for a great price) to explore the coastline, find nice restaurants, etc.

We didn’t mind paying for the washing machine and snorkel hire, but I think it would be good to indicate on the property page that this is the case.

Large room. Well equipped kitchen. Friendly atmosphere. More than you could expect for the price. (A/C, water cooler, washing machine, ...). Hosts provided accurate directions (which Google maps doesn't) so no problem to find the place.

Some mould in the kitchen. The room we had was a bit gloomy as balcony shutters and blind jammed in palce. As we only stayed one night nothing to complain about. If you are looking for a five star accommodation this is not it. But if you want a good budget option with friendly atmosphere it ticks the boxes

I rent rooms in surfhouse already 3 times, the rooms are very nice, you have cosy terraces with nice view, there I used to have my breakfast. Also the garden is really nice. Everything is very clean, stuff is really friendly and helpful. The owner is very friendly too and gives best kitelessons! I am very happy I choosed to live there and I will come back for sure! 😊
