A charming 3-bedroom contemporary on one-acre property in lovely residential area of Great Barrington. The house has a screened porch that is perfect for enjoying nature. A recreational area on the lower level with access to the outside includes wet bar, pool table, 50” plasma TV, DVD, surround sound. The idyllic home for both relaxation as well as entertaining friends.
NEW: We have recently re-modeled our downstairs and installed a new bathroom for our guests!!
The house is perfect for families or couples who want to get away to the countryside but yet still want the convenience of modern services and amenities.
Located in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, just 3 minutes to the center of town--bike ride to town--and 15 minutes away from Tanglewood, Norman Rockwell Museum, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, Canyon Ranch, Kripalu and Butternut ski resort.

My husband, daughter, son-in-law and I very much enjoyed our late June week in this comfortable and very well appointed house in the Berkshires. Although the heat wave kept us from some of the outdoor activities we had intended to do, the house and grounds offered unexpected pleasures, including amazingly high-end kitchen equipment, a deeply shaded patio in a woodsy back yard, and a basement recreation room where we could beat the heat. AC and ceiling fans were much appreciated. In the cool of the morning we could walk in the beautiful hilly suburban development where the house is located. A most relaxing place to spend time with adult family members during a heat wave!

We have stayed at Noriko and Dale's Great Barrington kuse for the past 5 winters. First....Noriko and Dale are excellent hosts....the house was always clean, always in good repair and they were incredibly easy to communicate with. We typically stayed for 12 weeks stints during ski season to race in the local TriState Junior skiing league and the house could not be more perfect for this. 7 minutes to Butternut, 13 minutes to Catamount, 45 minutes to Jiminy Peak and 50 minutes to Berkshire East. It is the perfect spot for Berkshires skiing.
The house itself is a great base of operations for an avid ski family. with three bedrooms it is roomy and offers everyone some privacy. The main living room upstairs is comfortably furnished and the fireplace is fantastic. We have spent many evenings in front of that hearth warming up after a long day of skiing. The kitchen is well equipped and was a real help to us as we cooked a lot and entertained other ski families for apres ski. The downstairs area is perfect with its own bathroom, a pool table and large sectional couch and large screen TV. I often worked during the ski season from the house and the internet connection is solid for conference calls and the kids gaming/scrolling. The driveway is gravel and well maintained with a bunch of parking. As my kids got older we have three cars in the driveway regularly and everybody had a place to park where they could come and go as they pleased. The fully functional garage was a real bonus

This wonderful home proved to be a perfect choice for our summer vacation in the Berkshires - exceptionally clean, comfortable, and ideally located! And Noriko is a splendid host!

Located just outside of downtown GB, this property was perfect for me, my family, and some visiting friends. We really enjoyed the outdoor deck for bird watching, relaxing and grilling. The kitchen is well-stocked with good pans, pots and knives. The downstairs area with the wet bar and pool table were also fun. Note that this property is also a 5 min drive (take back roads to avoid traffic in town) to Lake Mansfield for great swimming. We intend to come back!

Most important, since it was a very hot week, the AC units in the living room & main bedroom worked well. If you kept the doors open the other rooms cooled too. House was well supplied with towels, paper goods, soaps, spices, etc. Lovely landscaped private yard. 2nd bedroom has a full, not queen mattress. The cable box had an issue with rebooting each time it was used, which hopefully Spectrum will resolve. You just have to remember to turn it on earlier than the show starts (you can watch shows on demand too.) The owner was easy to communicate with via the app. Not far from town and from Lake Mansfield for swimming (no fees.)

Wonderful, comfortable house
The house is on a lovely property near the things we love in Great Barrington. It's spacious, sparkling clean and was very comfortable for our group of 5 adults. Our favorite space was the screened-in room....spent a lot of time there when we weren't out walking, playing tennis or swimming nearby.

Cozy and convenient
The house was very comfortable with several different seating areas that allowed for guests to have privacy. The glassed in porch was a wonderful asset, especially since we were housebound for a few days due to a hurricane. As others have mentioned, the house could use some upgrades to the decor, but the photos accurately portray what the rooms look like. The driveway is a bit of a challenge since it was pretty rutted.. The bathrooms, television, dishwasher and microwave are all updated. The neighborhood is beautiful and quiet with easy access to all Berkshire attractions. The owners were responsive to some initial issues we faced. It would be helpful to have a manual in the house that explains some of the features and provides emergency contact numbers for the local caretaker. We had a lovely week and it was hard to leave.

It's a lovely house in excellent shape, just close enough to Great Barrington to walk. The place was spotless when we arrived. We made extensive use of the propane grill on the back deck. Owners are very communicative and attentive. We really enjoyed our stay.Only caution is that the interior steps to the downstairs space (TV, pool/ping-pong table, bar, washer/dryer) are unusually steep. Not a great fit for someone who is staircase-challenged.

Family Thanksgiving
This is our 3rd stay at Hemlock Hill. Obviously we love this house. It felt like coming home for us as well as our family and friends. We had much to be thankful for this year and being able to stay at Hemlock Hill was one of them.

A Nice Place
The property is well located and close to many of the cultural
attractions we enjoyed. Kitchen is well equipted and easy to use. Both bathrooms are nice and have obviously been upgraded.It would be more comfortable with central air but the two window units did help. The local property manager was very helpful with our needs.

Beautiful setting in the Berkshires.
The house was perfect for our family Thanksgiving weekend. There was plenty of space for young and old to spread out. Close to shopping, restaurants and all that the Berkshires have to offer all year round.

Peaceful, private house near everything in the Berkshires
We spent a week in this very private home in a lovely, quiet neighborhood in Great Barrington. We enjoyed being a few minutes away from the "downtown" of Great Barrington and its shops and restaurants and also having the relaxing privacy of our rental. The house is also near Stockbridge (about 10-minutes) and Lenox is about a 15 - 20 minute drive. We especially loved the very large, attractive screen porch with its array of comfy furniture, dining table/chairs and the ceiling fan. It has sliders leading to the dining room/kitchen area.
The house is well suited for two couples since it has two full bathrooms. The main floor has a nice two-sink plus tub/shower bathroom that has been newly remodeled and the downstairs (basement level with its large entertainment room) has another bathroom with a walk-in shower. There is also a laundry room in the basement area. Given that it was summer, we did not spend time in the basement entertainment area but I can imagine it would be a nice feature in the colder months with its big screen TV and pool table. The living room on the main floor is spacious and offers a large fireplace which would also be lovely on a cold day.
There is a brand new deck but apparently because it is new, there is no deck furniture per se (although one could move furniture from the screen porch area). The deck is right off the porch room.
We enjoyed our stay at this house and were also pleased with how Noriko dealt with a few concerns/glitches we encountered.

Winter getaway
Place was as described and the right size for a family of 5. Comfortable and located within short driving distance of Great Barrington center and Ski Butternut. We enjoyed the fireplace and pool/pingpong table in the finished basement. Owners were very responsive and they have a caretaker in town if needed.

Spacious, convenient, relaxing
I stayed here for a weekend with my boyfriend and the house is very spacious and well-kept, so it would be fun to go back again with a big group of friends to take advantage of the space and amenities. It's very close to town, where we found some good restaurants and a lot of great antique stores. It's also near a pretty lake (although the weather was not quite nice enough for a swim). I would recommend this for anyone looking to get away to a nice, clean house for a relaxing time in nature and for exploring a great town. It would also be fun in the winter for a skiing vacation, there's a great big fireplace.

The description is accurate and the house is very clean and well-maintained. The area is very quiet and relaxing although very convenient. The location is excellent, close to Great Barrington where we went for restaurants, shopping, and the movies. It's a short drive to Tanglewood and Stockbridge. The beds are very comfortable. The screened porch is delightful for meals and relaxing. We would recommend this to anyone who wants reasonably-priced accommodations.
