Solmar Apartments comprises a two 2 bedroom apartment designed to accommodate up to 4 adults / children with a spectacular view over Marsascala’s characteristic fishing port and the open sea beyond.
Centrally located and set just back from the harbour front on a quiet non-thoroughfare street, the apartment offers calm and will allow you to enjoy Marsascala’s seaside location and its traditional relaxed social life-style making for a fascinating holiday for the whole family.
The apartment is just a 5 minute walk from the Marsaskala bus terminus from where you can reach all corners of Malta and Gozo in comfort and low cost without having to worry about driving or parking. We can organise rapid and efficient transfer from the airport to the apartment with immediate check in, obtain 7 day bus pass tickets for you. We can also organise bespoke private guided visits should you so require.
A butcher, baker, mini supermarkets, local fishermen (for the early riser) and fresh vegetable stalls are all within a stone’s throw, meaning that a car is not needed for everyday necessities.
The apartment is modernly furnished and has been finished to a high standard combining simple elegance and practical functionality that includes efficient and silent invertor technology AC units in each room that can also be used for heating in the colder months.
It is extremely light and airy and comprises an open plan kitchen / dining / sitting room area, two bedrooms and two bathrooms equipped with generously dimensioned showers (the main bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom). The beds in each bedroom can be arranged as either a large king-sized double bed or separate 90 cm x 2 meter twin beds. The apartment’s master bedroom is large enough to add an extra child’s bed or cot if required. The orthopaedic mattresses are comfortable and duvets, bed linen and towels are all supplied. A hair dryer is also provided in each apartment.
The kitchen has been thought out so that it will be a pleasure should you prefer to stay in and dine al-fresco on the terrace admiring the evening view over the harbour. The all-electric kitchen is equipped with oven, microwave, induction hob, hood, toaster and kettle and of course a dishwasher to make you feel at home. In addition, each apartment has a clothes washing machine, clothes drying racks, iron and ironing board.
There is free internet / WiFi as well as an Android box in each apartment so that you can pick up many of your favourite channels. If you have subscriptions to streaming channels such as Amazon Prime or Netflix, please bring your User ID and Passwords with you so you can log on via the Android box.
A children’s play park with an impressive range of activities for various ages can be reached within 10 minutes on foot.
A number of water sports such as scuba diving, sailing, fishing are all to be found in the region.
For those interested in history, Valletta, the 3 Cities and the megalithic temples of Tarxien are all within 10 – 20 minutes by car.
A very pleasant and wide promenade running along the waterfront around the bay with its numerous restaurants and bars is particularly agreeable for an evening stroll. Along the way you will come across designated cordoned-off bathing areas with direct access to the sea from the flat rocks via short ladders. The water is crystal clear and its temperature is most welcoming from late Spring through to late Autumn. Nearby, St Thomas’ Bay with its sandy beach can be reached by a 5 minute bus ride.
The one thing you will be short of is time to sample everything on offer.
The airport is less than 20 minutes away by taxi and the hosts will happily organise an airport pick up or car hire upon request.
Although the apartment block does not have its own parking, being on a quiet and non-thoroughfare street means that it is usually fairly easy to find a place to park close to the apartment.
It should be noted that the apartment being on the 2nd floor without a lift is not suitable for persons with reduced mobility. This being said, the stairways are wide and very easy to climb.
To avoid misunderstandings, please note the following:
a) Included in the nightly rental is 10kWh of electricity/day, which is more than adequate for average usage. For extra consumption, a coin meter is provided in the apartment set at €1 buys an extra 4 kWh of electricity. Please note that during periods of extreme Summer heat, you may need to add a couple of Euros per day extra to fully cover AC consumption.
b) There is a stay tax imposed by the Maltese Tourist Authority of €0.50/guest/night. This applies to persons of 18 years and older and is capped at €5/person per stay in Malta. This tax will be collected upon check-in at the apartment.

Where the booking schedule allows, we will try and accommodate you for late check outs and early check ins.

Just spent a lovely week in Marsaskala at Alda and Peters apartment. Great location away from the busier towns which was what we were looking for but still easily accessible by bus to all the islands sights. Good restaurants within walking distance and the vista from the balcony is as good as it gets. Big thank you as well to Cynthia who picked us up from the airport arranged bus passes and gave us helpful information.

Spacious and clean apartment. Well equipped with great view of harbour. Check in and collection very efficient. Some of the footpaths on approach to the apartment are very uneven, so take care.

A well situated property, clean, spacious and with all the requirements for an enjoyable stay. The owners were welcoming and friendly and easy to communicate with. The views from the balcony were delightful. Loved our time here and would happily return. We cant recommend this apartment enough.

We were very impressed with the apartment's location, it was a short distance from the bay, shops and restaurants and bus terminal. The view from the lounge was uplifting, a clear view of the whole bay. We were visiting Maltese friends and the apartment could not have been closer to them so that was a real bonus.
We found the bed exceptionally comfortable however, we did not find the sofa comfortable at all. We were not aware until the holiday was almost over that the actual seat cushions could be manually pulled forward to provide a leg rest. Sadly, when the seat was pulled forward, the sofa became very difficult to sit back on unless you shuffled back and for us, it only helped to make the sofa slightly more comfortable. We spoke to Cynthia and Alda about this, they responded immediately and stated that they had not received any other complaints, so maybe it was just us.

Good sized apartment with a fantastic balcony. Everything you need for a comfortable stay and the owners and Manager were available whenever needed.
Short walk to shops, restaurants and bus terminus. We hired a car and managed to get parked fairly close each day.

We enjoyed our stay at Peter and Alda’s. They were extremely accommodating. The view was spectacular and we spent many a morning enjoying a coffee on the sunny balcony. Great central location for public transit - we never missed having a car.

This apartment was an excellent location with amazing views of Marsaskala Bay. The apartment was in excellent condition, and Peter and Alda, the owners, were so helpful and were in contact throughout my holiday to make sure that everything in the apartment was OK .Cynthia, who picked me up from the airport and carried out the check-in and check out for the apartment, was also so very helpful and also checked with my throughout my holiday to make sure everything was OK in the apartment. I will diffenetly be back and would recommend these apartments.

We used this as our base for exploring/sightseeing around the island in November, less busy than resorts further north, & €21 pass gives 7 day unlimited bus travel, so no issues car parking (most towns quite busy)Apartment has plenty of local amenities and balcony view over the bay.

Stayed here for 5 nights with my husband and best-friend.
The property manager was super friendly and kind. Arranged to pick up at the airport and have alot of tips of getting around and restaurants to visit.
Each room was spacious and very clean.The master bedroom we ended up having a problem with the AC on the first night. They were able to have some come by and check it and bug us a portable AC. The owners were super friendly and accommodating.
The only thing was the electricity credit that they gave us was not sufficient and we ended up adding around 10€ ourselves. The temperature was high 30C-40C° you had to have the AC run all night. Also my gf was working from home for a few hours a day. We definitely turned off all the lights and AC went we went out so I just don’t think it’s enough for more then a 2 people.
Kitchen comes with enough of the basic to cook at home.
The location is great. Just 10mins walk to local markets and then 15min down to the water where all the restaurants are. Roughly a 20-25min drive into Valletta.
Really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend.

we had a really pleasant time in family at Marsaskala thanks to Alda for the place and thanks to Cynthia to have inform us about the places to see ! We found this Town is the perfect size for us ! Children can walk around and have fun with the 2 playing areas very close and love to swim next to the port !! Wonderful

Nous avons passer un très bon séjour dans cet appartement spacieux et très propre. La vue sur le port était très agréable.
Points négatifs:
- peu de pression dans la douche
- pas de rideau occultant pour la lumière du matin dans la chambre au deux lits simples

Nie wieder Peter u Alda
Cynthia hat uns am Flughafen abgeholt uns alles erklärt und und per WhatsApp sich nach uns erkundigt i.o.
Alda hat nach 3 Tagen eine WhatsApp mit Foto von verstreutem Müll vor dem Haus geschickt, mit der Nachricht das die Stadtwerwaltung das nicht gerne sieht. War ich nicht als Antwort von mir.
Am 5. Tag unser Fehler haben wir das erste und einzige Mal Müll vor die Tür gestellt. Nur nicht bis 7.30 Uhr am Morgen sondern am Abend vorher. Eine Stunde später kam eine WhatsApp mit dem Photo von unserem Müll und der Frage wer so was tut.
Am 6. Tag kam eine WhatsApp mit der Aufforderung den Organischen Müll der 2 Häuser weiter stand sofort wieder zu holen und bei uns auf dem Balkon zu lagern. ????? Sie weis genau das dieser Müll von uns ist. !!!!!!! Das hat mir den ganzen Urlaubstag verdorben. Auf meine Antwort das ich damit nichts zu tun habe kam die Nachricht "vielleicht war der Müll auch von einer anderen Wohnung.!!!

prachtig uitzicht
Het terras en uitzicht is geweldig. Het appartement is zeer ruim en alle voorzieningen aanwezig. Vooral erg blij met goedwerkende airco. Restaurants, bushalte en kleine supermarkt kortbij. Verder is in Marsaskala niet veel te beleven daarom is het fijn dat bushalte kortbij is.
Om het appartement te bereiken moet je wel redelijk omhoog lopen. Misschien een klein rekje in de douche zou handig zijn.
Toen wij er waren was het heel warm en zou een extra parasol handig zijn geweest.
Het was een heerlijke week en we hebben genoten van uw appartment !!

Dejlig lejlighed med flot udsigt over havnen.
Lever op til foto og alle nødvendige fornødenheder er til stede.
Der er mange udemærkede restauranter inden for kort afstand.
God kontakt med ejerne og den lokale værtinde.
Eneste udfordring er parkering der skal foregå på gaden, hvor der er meget få pladser. Det lykkedes for os, men det var ca 300 m væk.

Apartment with a view
The apartment was everything we expected. Communication was excellent between ourselves the owners, Peter and Alda and property manager Cynthiaand any issues that arose we dealt with. Location within Marsakala was excellent although some steps are needed to be taken from the town to the apartment (which we were aware of) The property was well equipped for our stay. Overall really happy with our stay and the apartment. The balcony and the view are real highlights. If I had to pick something for improvement it would be the supply of a beach towel for each person.

Sehr schöne Ferienwohnung
Wir wurden sehr nett empfangen und zur Wohnung gebracht. Dort wurde uns alles genau erklärt. Die Wohnung war sehr gemütlich und nett eingerichtet. Es ist alles was man braucht vorhanden. Der Blick vom Balkon über den Hafen bis zum Meer ist super.
Da haben wir nach einem anstrengenden Tag den Abend bei einem Glas Wein ausklingen lassen. Wir waren rundum sehr zufrieden

Appartement confortable avec 2 salles de bain te petite terrasse. Belle vue sur la baie de Marsascala. En impasse, relativement calme. Marsascala est assez excentrée et à 15/20 minutes de la Valette, voiture ou taxi nécessaire. Epiceries à 50m, restaurants sur le port

Great Vacation, but Details/Instructions in Need of Update
Communication was excellent with Peter/Alda before and during our stay. Upon arrival to the property we found it could have been cleaned better. There was dust in the corners and along the running boards. The bathrooms were not cleaned too well and had low water pressure. There were bugs in the bathroom.
The beds were comfortable, but take note, the pillows in all four beds were very thick and stiff. So, if you require a thinner or softer pillow, keep that in mind. We had to use small travel pillows to compensate. Overall, the property was not quite depicted as the pictures indicated. The bedding only had sheets in the children's room. The master bedroom had different bedding and pillows than depicted in the photos. The table that is positioned on the outdoor patio is actually the dining room table and chairs moved to the outside. The neighborhood is not the cleanest either. There were tons of stray cats living around the property and trash was always in the street and on the sidewalks.
The most disappointing feature of the property was the use of electricity and the confusing instructions we received about its use. We were in Malta during August and it was at its hottest during our stay. Several days were above 42C! We considered ourselves good stewards of electricity usage; always turning off outlets not in use, never using AC in rooms that were not attended, and always turning off the AC, lights, and outlets when we left during the day. Despite this, we ran out of electricity 6 days into our 10 day trip. The instructions on the website and at the property state we have "10KW of electricity per day" and "1 Euro buys an extra 4KW of electricity". According to these instructions, we should have had 100KW of electricity for our 10 days. When we arrived, we noticed the meter had 30 Euros of electricity preloaded. Since "1 Euro buys 4KW" we should've had 120 KW of energy available to use. Instead, our electricity cut out at around ~70 KW of usage. We understand why the property managers have this policy in place in order to prevent unnecessary waste, but it needs to be updated accurately describe how many KW 1 Euro actually buys. We believed that a family of four using only 10KW a day during 42 temps and using an occasional appliance is not adequate. Perhaps in Winter/Fall months it would be, but not during August. We even took cold showers to save on the electricity. The stay was good but we will look elsewhere next time.

Nice holiday location
We stayed in February for 10 days. Arrangement for transport from airport worked perfectly, including explanation of apartment by contact person. Apartment in neighbourhood of harbour with promenades on both sides and good choice of restaurants, public transport and a couple of groceries all on walking distance. Because off allday heavy traffic no need for a car, which you btw would not be able to park at night. Wifi is excellent, we could not make the tv working via android box but did not really miss it. Apartment is fully equipped we did not miss anything, although a coffee machine would have been usefull. We enjoyed our stay.

appartamento arredato in modo confortevole e moderno,soggiorno ampio e luminoso ,con un terrazino affacciato sulla baia ,la cucina è attrezzata da moderni elettrodomestici ,lavastoviglie microonde tostapane bollitore e tutto quello che serve per cucinare, eravamo due coppie e il fatto di avere due bagni è stato molto gradito,anche il condizionamento-riscaldamento è efficiente c'è uno split in ogni ambiente.i proprietari molto gentili e disponibili (farmacia chiusa ,mi hanno dato loro un farmaco per la tosse ) il terminal bus è sotto casa ,insomma che altro dire ? Ottimo!

All in all we were extremely pleased with our stay. Everything we needed was in the apartment.

It was difficult to find parking spaces and we pointed at a couple of cleaning faults. ( frost box, vacuum cleaner bag). Minimal problems and when we mentioned them they were accepted in a courteous manner.

We had a great time.
The location of the property is really good, with a wonderful view of the harbour. You can even walk to a small beach just a kilometer away. We found hiring a car much easier to get around. The people in Malta are very freindly, good breakfast in the Corner Cafe/restaurant.

Well located apartment with fabulous view
We chose this apartment for the view across Marsascala harbour and it didn't disappoint. We got up before dawn on a couple of occasions to see the sunrise over the mouth of the harbour - a beautiful sight.
The apartment is a few minutes' walk to Marsascala town with its' numerous restaurants. The regular and cheap bus service gives access to the rest of the island without hiring a car. Weekly bus tickets are available from a shop on the harbourside. Getting back to the apartment from the town involves a walk up a short but steep hill followed by three floors' worth of stairs, so a basic level of fitness is required.
The apartment was well appointed and spotlessly clean. We enjoyed our stay there and can thoroughly recommend it.
