The view is fantastic and the location is very close to many restaurants, shops and the train station where u can quickly travel to many French Riviera towns. The apartment is very large, but could use some maintenance for peeling ceiling areas, chipped floor tile, falling apart window shutters etc that would be expected for a location as this. Emailing the Riviera Holiday Homes can sometimes takes days or weeks to get a response. However texting, calling or what’s app gets u a response
very quickly. The apartment is sparsely stocked compared to the many other Vrbo’s we have rented. There is no salt, pepper, olive oil, paper towels, Kleenex, shower gel , shampoo etc that you see when renting. Also the pictures of the apartment don’t show the large rock wall and stone stairs upon entrance that were a surprise
To us but are very unique. The main picture of the patio table overlooking the ocean is well done but does not look as nice in reality for the small porch and very old furniture. All in all it is worth staying there but with some of the suggested improvements in this review this could be quite an enjoyable apartment. Note - upstairs bedroom is divided by a moving wall or keoted open between master bed and bunk bed. For a couple with 2 kids it would be great.

In truth, we barely spent any time at this place except to sleep. We woke up early everyday to explore and arrived home late each night. The place is just as advertised and the accommodations match the reviews. It is very quirky place, but exactly as advertised. It is in an incredible location, on the water and close to the train station. There are restaurants in abundance all around. The town and setting is beautiful. Sandrine was very responsive.

Relaxing Stay by the Sea!
Service, responses, and guidance from staff at Riviera Holiday Homes were superb, as usual (it was our third time renting from them). The apartment fit our needs nicely - perfect location near the beach where we spent most of the days (the beach club was a fun splurge on one day!). Kitchen was well equipped but wonderful restaurants are every so we didn't cook very much. The apartment layout is very quirky and unique (the round bed, the upstairs mezzanine, the grotto-like hallway from the first floor to the second) - not a bad thing just very interesting. It was wonderful having the large tub upstairs and an excellent shower downstairs. No air conditioning (typical for this region) but the oscillating fans kept the air moving at night. There is an outdoor bar right below the apartment it was being renovated during our stay so nights were quiet with the windows open. Truly the location and the views from the apartment are the selling points of this rental - as was the private but small outdoor sitting area (table for four).
Nothing (except maybe more fans in the apartment)! The staff at RHH, especially Sandrine, were incredible throughout the rental process and during our stay. Thank you!

This is a unique place directly on the harbor with a beautiful view. It is a short walk to the beach, multiple restaurants, and the train station. We found the staff of the restaurant L'Terrace below the apartment very helpful and friendly. The staff of Riviera Holiday homes were also very helpful and always responded very quickly.

Location Location Location
This property is in the most perfect location to walk to a fantastic beach, boat rentals, clothing stores and fabulous restaurants. Villefranche-sur-Mer is a beautiful village and because it is somewhat difficult to get to-this seaside apartment allows visitors easy access to the popular beach and to the gorgeous shops and churches.

The management company did not communicate well with us. There was no link at the VRBO site to pay the balance for the rental. I even contacted the owner about it, she told me that they would handle it. I finally got an email close to the rental dates giving me a warning that the payment was overdue. I paid it with a statement of my disappointment that there was no prior instruction on how to pay the balance prior to the warning. A few days before the rental dates, I get instructions on getting the keys from their office and instructions to return it at a specific time. In all of my VRBO rentals, someone always met us at the property & leaving the keys in the property when we left. So I confirm but later I get another instruction to get the keys at a restaurant around town. I envisioned being tired from a long train ride, walking around town with our luggage and getting lost trying to find the place. So I opted to take their option of a taxi meeting us, with the keys & taking us to the property. The management company was charging us a taxi ride from the airport, which was a 30 minute ride but we were arriving at the train station, which was only 10 mins. I requested for them to adjust the fee for the service & confirm that they were picking us up. They never responded to my email, even after several requests via email. I wasn't sure if we were getting picked up or can get in. I was glad he picked us up at the right place. When we got to the place it was clean but not enough toilet paper, so we had to buy more. They had instructions on making sure everything was ok because when they inspect it after we left & they find something broken, we will be responsible. We had instructions on closing blinds that did not exist, there was not enough electric plugs, a hair dryer that did not fit into the plugs and no English instructions for any of the appliances. There was also specific instructions on leaving the place clean, cleaning the frig & throwing out our garbage or we would not get the100euro cleaning deposit back. All of these institutions to make it easy for the management company left a bad taste in our mouths & made our vacation less relaxing. Villafranche-sur-mer is a beautiful place but I would not stay in this place again!

Overall this apartment was great! It was a family trip so the four of us stayed comfortably. The location was to die for! Great view of the water, so close to all the restaurants and shops and a five minute walk to the train station that could either take you east to Monaco or west to Cannes! My favourite part was how close we were to the beach which isn't too overwhelming with people when we were there. We stayed 10 days but did a side trip to Germany to visit family so I think we may have missed all the action that weekend. The apartment is above a hip/trendy restaurant and they play nice music but be aware in the summer since the place does not have air conditioning you will hear the music a lot louder than we did. Since we were there at the beginning of May we were able to close the windows at night. The apartment is built into a rock face so you can definitely feel the humidity but otherwise everything in the apartment was great! The staff a Riviera Homes were fantastic and always responded to our questions immediately. So overall if you don't mind the music from the restaurant which does stop at around 11:00pm - Midnight and can deal with the fact that the two bedrooms are only separated by wood sliding doors this place is for you!!!!

I stayed in this apartment in June 2011 with my 5 sisters as a family get-together to celebrate my 50th birthday. We're spread out across 2 continents, so just wanted somewhere easy to get to in terms of flights, which was near to the sea / beach and places to visit.
The location was perfect! Short bus and train journey from Nice International airport - only took about 20 minutes and cost about 3 Euros. 10 minutes walk from the train station at Villefranche sur Mer and you're at the apartment, right on the sea-front.
The apartment was great, just what we wanted. It's quirky - built into the ancient stone of the medieval old town - and has a great open plan space downstairs, The whole apartment is just as described on the website - what you see is what you get and it's perfect for a group who is happy to just 'muck in together' and has no real need for their own privacy. The facilities were good and perfectly met our needs. Bed linen and towels were clean and plentiful. We opened up the 2 bedrooms upstairs and made them into 1 big space to suit us better. The bedroom mezzanine is open to the space below, so if you want real bedroom privacy and are in a group, it's not for you.
The apartment is above the Beluga bar & restaurant and to access it, you have to walk through the terrace of the restaurant. The staff there are very friendly and didn't seem to mind us trouping through with all our beach stuff / shopping bags! The restaurant plays music throughout the day/evening until about midnight but this didn't bother us, as we didn't plan on having any early nights...
Each evening, we would sit on the apartment's terrace just above the restaurant and enjoy the lovely view, eachother's company, the local wine and the music. Perfect!
The only problem was the mosquitoes, which seemed to particularly like me and one of my sisters! But even though we were covered in bites, it didn't stop us enjoying our week's holiday.
Villlefranche sur Mer is a beautiful place and the old town is lovely to walk around, day and night. Public transport in the area is excellent and low cost, and you can easily reach lots of places to visit using the local trains and buses, e.g. it's only 15 minutes on the train to Monaco - Monte Carlo.
I would definitely recommend this apartment.

This apartment is in a fantastic location in the beautiful historic town of Villefranche Sur Mer. Everything you need for a relaxing holiday is within a short walking distance, Beach, bars, restaurants. Should you want to travel further afield there is no real need for a car as the train station is within a 5 minute walk and the service is cheap and reliable. Only 5 minutes to Nice Ville, 15 minutes to Monaco!
The apartment is well furnished and spacious downstairs with lovely views out onto the bay just yards away. Although Air Conditioning is not available, sleeping in the heat was not a problem with the fans provided. Small downside is the adjoining bedrooms on the upper floor which are separated with a sliding door.
WIFI feature was easy to use and certainly a bonus on the one occasion we had rain!
We booked only a month before travelling but the service we received was 1st class - we were accommodated for an early arrival and provided with a driver to transfer us and given this was our 1st visit a real help in getting to the apartment. The price of transfer was a lot cheaper than using airport taxis.
The apartment is directly above The Beluga Bar & Restauarant whose owners are very friendly. They made an effort to make us feel welcome and even invited us to a promotion evening! - they are also mindful that noise could be a problem and therefore ensure music is not too loud and does not go on after 12. For us, we found sitting on the small balcony adjoining the apartment and listening to the music with a glass of wine quite relaxing - it's certainly not the disco variety but much more easy listening.
The description in the advert is very accurate and the apartment was very clean and generally well maintained (a couple of door handles missing and wobbly chairs but thats being too picky) and I'd have no hesitation of recommending this to friends & family.
The choice of restaurants is fantastic and will cater for most budgets - we ate at the Cosmo restuarant a couple of times which was reasonable value and very good food & service.
We'll definitely return to Villefranche Sur Mer.
