A wonderful location in the old city. Just a short walk from the Palais des Papes and other attractions. Plenty of room for our family of five.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. Very central location close to sights, shopping and restaurants. Lots of space for a family and the apartment is exactly what it looks like in the listing. Wonderful historic property full of character, yet very comfortable with all of the modern amenities.

The location of this apartment was wonderful and the building itself charming, but our experience was not great. When we arrived we were met by a lovely young girl who didn't speak a single word of English. I tried to communicate in broken French but that was the least of our problems. The main couch in the living area was covered in small pieces of fabric for us to sit on because beneath it, the polyester couch was shedding. As you can imagine, with two young children, it's impossible to sit on a couch on a small piece of fabric without moving and soon the kids (and us) were completely covered in white specs of polyester. It was all over the house, stuck on their skin and in their hair and covering the floor and our clothes. When we reached out to the owner, he told us the small squares of fabric all over the couch was adequate. The kids skin has some kind of blotchy reaction to it and so we had to avoid sitting on the only couch in the home.
Finally the owner said a new couch was coming we waited two days of our holiday at the home to accept it and twice, after waiting full days, the date or delivery changed. No apology, the owner in fact tried to make it our fault.
Finally, on the third day waiting home the couch came and when we got home there was plastic and boxes all over the house and tools covering the bench top and a rude sign telling us not to touch anything. No further details, just not to touch anything.
The shelves were all sticky when we arrived, dust everywhere and no spare sheets or pillows.
I'd advise only staying here if you don't mind being treated terribly and it's a short stay.

Popes, Mozart, Aubanel - what else can you ask for?
It was so amazing to stay in this beautiful historic property. It was close to everything and the little courtyard restaurant was superb. It is the perfect base to explore not only Avignon but Provence. Thank you Christine for your welcome and patience as we did charades due to our limited French language skills :) BTW we parked across the river in the free carpark of Ile Poit and it was an easy walk to the property AND you got to see the spectacular view of Avignon and St Benezet Bridge or you can take the free bus into the city. We also got to attend Mozart's Requiem in St Pierre's church ( in the same courtyard) which has been a highlight of our trip. Merci!!

Fantastic Apartment
The location- a quiet street behind the Palais des Papes- is wonderful. Steps away from the heart of the city, but a great retreat at the end of the day. The four of us were very comfortable and the owner was easy to work with. I highly recommend it.

Fabulous Stay in Avignon
Perfect location in Avignon. The location next to the Palace of the Popes made getting around town so easy. Avignon is also a great location to be, as the other day trip cities are not far away so you can easily come and go and still see all the area has to offer. The house is even better than the pictures. Could not ask for a better home away from home. Christine welcomed us and made sure we were ready for our stay. As in other reviews, if you are coming in from across the pond that day, book a reservation at the local restaurant in the square. Great food and setting and made the first night more relaxing since we were tired from the flight over. The gallery in the square also is very nice. The owners are very friendly and have a wide variety of art to see. They also have some good restaurant suggestions! The house itself is a gem in the city....we would definitely book this again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Avignon. Thank you for sharing this wonderful home!

We spent three nights at the lovely Aubanel Maison last week. Very large apartment that is beautifully updated yet maintains so much of the old world charm. Very well appointed though we ate out during our stay there. The inner courtyard and steps leading up to the apartment were beautiful. Maison Aubanel is located STEPS from the famous Palais des Papes, whose towers you can see from the street in front of the home. We had a little trouble finding the apartment because the street it is on (St. Pierre) is mostly pedestrian and we had to approach from a narrow opening off of a one way street. Once we unloaded our massive amount of luggage (our fault) we parked at a lot just a few minutes walking distance from the house (and near a wonderful food hall called Les Halles.) We walked everywhere and only needed our car when we traveled to Gordes. Upon leaving, we were able to pull over on the main street and load our luggage. A minor inconvenience for a wonderful place to stay and worth it. Beds were comfortable and we slept with the large windows open and found it to be quiet. Fans in each bedroom kept things cool. Christine was very kind and welcomed us. Though she doesnt speak English well, we managed to communicate with my basic knowledge of French. Laurence was available from Paris to answer questions about directions. Plenty of restaurants in the area but I recommend getting reservations for dinner as the restaurants are small and many arent open at night. There is a lovely restaurant in front of the house that is always busy -LEpicerie. If you are arriving later in the day I recommend reserving here in advance so you arent wandering around for a place to eat your first night. It was a great value for a family of four and very nice to have a true home to return to each evening.Other restaurant recommendations (get reservations) are Chez Mimmo for delicious Italian food and La Fourchette-wonderful service and food.We used Romain Gouvernet from Wine and Provence for a tour of the Chateauneuf de Pape region and he was excellent. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Maison Theodore Aubanel, once the home of the famous Provencale poet Theodore Aubanel was also once the printing and publishing house founded by his grandfather. Today few print and publishing artifacts remain; two large print machines greet one upon entry to the courtyard behind two magnificently heavy solid doors. Maison Aubanel sits quietly in the shadows of The Palais du Papes, and I am inspired by gothic structure all around and reminded of the incredible life Avignon has seen through the Middle Ages and its love of the Arts. I watch the movement of the Sun as she casts her daily shadows upon the looming fortress, the towering tour de la campagne beyond my window, and I imagine what life must have been like for the Papacy. Aubanel is a quiet thinking ground, tucked away behind Place St Pierre, elegant and refined with all that one needs. It is surrounded by the best restaurants from La Mirande to LEpicerie and a short walk to Les Halles market on Saturday mornings where the best local produce is fought over by top chefs in the region. I have everything i will ever need here at Aubanel, and once again I take my pen and sit to write about all that which must not be forgotten. Maison Aubanel is unforgettable too, and Laurence and Christine the housekeeper we so welcoming and are two of the nicest people you will ever meet, ready to help you in any way and make you feel at home in your own private fortress. I cannot wait to return. Magnifique!

Nous avons été très bien accueilli dans ce superbe appartement (encore plus beau que sur les photos). Idéalement situé, décoré avec goût et très confortable, nous n'attendions pas autant d'une location. Pour sûr, nous reviendrons!
