Area:
Joshua Tree National Park's west entrance is a 5-mile drive from the house. In 25 minutes, one can be in the heart of Joshua Tree National Park which features stunning desert landscapes, wonderful bouldering, world class rock climbing, good hiking (for all classes of hikers with hikes from 1 mile and up), fun dirt road drives and mountain biking options. It should be noted that dogs must be kept on leash and cannot depart from main roads. As well, you must bring your own water - none is available in the park. There are outfitters in town that can supply you if you are in need of outdoor gear.
Joshua Tree Village includes Joshua Tree Saloon--a colorful watering hole that serves up delicious burgers, beers, and great live music. The Crossroads Cafe & Tavern--a great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner with a diverse menu. Natural Sisters Cafe--featuring health shakes, delicious sandwiches, and wraps. Santana's Mexican Food, Country Kitchen for breakfast, Royal Siam Cuisine Thai Restaurant, Sam's Indian Food, and the Park Rock Cafe.
Joshua Tree Village shops include Ricochet Vintage Wears, Coyote Corner Gift Shop, Trailer Trash Artist Village, Wind Walkers Pottery & Crafts, the Joshua Tree Art Gallery, The Beatnick Lounge (which features great nightly live music and art), and the Joshua Tree Farmers Market every Saturday.
The many stores, restaurants, grocery stores, and vintage shops of Yucca Valley are a 15-minute drive, close enough for convenience, far enough for isolation. The Institute of Mentalphysics & Retreat Center is a 5-minute drive, featuring 420 acres of pristine desert, architecture designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, and home to the Synchronicity Matter & Psyche Symposium and the Bhakti Yoga Fest. Pappy & Harriet's music venue is a 25-minute drive in rustic Pioneertown, which has hosted acts such as Paul McCartney, Queens of the Stone Age, Robert Plant, Eagles of Death Metal, Rufus Wainwright, and many others. Pioneertown is also a Wild West town which has served as a film location to many Westerns and TV shows. Visit the sound bath at the Integratron, claimed to be capable of rejuvenation, anti-gravity, and time travel, only a 40-minute drive in Landers. Joshua Tree is also home to the Joshua Tree Music Festival, Desert Stars Music Festival, Sam Nam Festival, Joshua Tree Gay Pride Festival, and a short drive from Coachella, Desert Trip, and the Stagecoach Music Festivals.
If you are looking for something, you will probably find it in some corner of the Morongo Valley area which includes Joshua Tree. Recently, a little exploration yielded 2 used book shops in Yucca Valley and one on the way to 29 Palms. There is always something stimulating and interesting to be discovered!
If you're feeling like a big night on the town, take a 45-minute drive down into Palm Springs and do it desert-style! Although it's just a 2-hour drive from Los Angeles, you will find Joshua Tree to be worlds away.

Nice, comfortable home. Barry was very helpful and responsive and good at communicating with me about the property, check-in and leaving instructions.

Barry was extremely accommodating and communicative before and during trip. The house was lovely, decorated with care and had everything we needed. It’s a short walk into Joshua Tree town and we enjoyed the saturday food stalls and checking out the shops. One note, the beds are pretty firm, however I was fine with it (my husband needs a more cushy mattress) but all good for a weekend. We did use garage but it’s a nice option for summer months. Thank you! we will definitely come back!

Great little house in great location close to downtown JT. Enjoyed walking to town for coffee in the morning. Everything worked great. Nice new gas stove and even had nice sharp knives.

Cozy with cute decor! Fire pits both in front and back. Such a great getaway from the city noise. Loved watching the native birds in the quiet back yard.

Stayed at the property for 2 nights. We spent time relaxing in the beautiful backyard before and after visiting Joshua Tree National Park. After staying at this property I’ve added a must have to my for a future home — a private outdoor claw foot bathtub. That was a wonderful feature!
The house itself has everything you need. Beds are best suited for those without a strong preference for a soft mattress.
Great location in easy driving distance to restaurants, shopping and Joshua Tree National Park.
Excellent communication from the host — left no confusion on how to access the house. I would recommend this home to a friend.

Conveniently located, clean, easy check-in. Great place to explore Joshua Tree or to hang out, read, write, nap. Nothing like a hot tub under the stars! I hope to visit again!

As a SoCal native, Joshua Tree has always been one of my favorite easy-to-get-to destinations.
I was born and raised in Los Angeles, and have had the advantage of experiencing the otherworldly magic of Joshua Tree National Park and the surrounding environment at various times in my life. However, my mother had yet to check it off her bucket list, and as a retired front-line worker, was most deserving of a rewarding experience.
Barry was not only a gracious and thoughtful host, but provided clear and straightforward instructions on how best to take advantage of our stay. The house was extremely clean and stocked with necessary goods that made our stay there convenient and comfortable - we never once had to "need" anything as the essentials of a home-away-from-home were provided.
The house has a chiminea in front, a hot/cold tub and a large fire pit in the rear, with a stunning view of the valley and adjacent mountains. While we were not able to take advantage of those features during our stay, due to unprecedented rainfall/snowfall, I have to admit it was worth experiencing the snow in the Park ten-fold (I understand this was consequential but we'll be returning in warmer months to make S'mores!). The house is practically within walking distance from the main stretch of the town, and provides easy access to local conveniences and access to the Park.
The house was absolutely perfect for us two, with room to spare for any accompaniment we hope to bring along in the future. This is one of the easiest and most convenient stays I've experienced visiting Joshua Tree, whether you're familiar or new, it is sure to be a perfect accommodation for those looking for a care-free visit to one of the greatest pockets of the world.
*Huge thanks to Barry for providing such an easy experience!

I could not have asked for a nicer place to stay. Roomy, cozy, quiet, good location. Nicely decorated. Gas stove. Great back yard. My stargazing was a great success. I had a wonderful time!

This property is perfectly located for access to the towns of Joshua Tree and Yucca Valley as well as the National Park's West Entrance. It is also equipped with everything you need. It was very clean and well decorated. The outdoor bathtub added a fun wrinkle too.
