About this cottage rental
Our river cottage was built in 1940. Perched on the bank of the Toccoa River, our house is perfect for couples or families looking to explore McCaysville, Blue Ridge and the Copper Basin area. Our home fronts Toccoa Avenue in McCaysville which means the Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad is just across the road! It's a favorite activity to step outside when you hear the train whistle so you can wave at the riders as they pass by!
This 1940 River Cottage has 4 bedrooms and two bathrooms.
The first bathroom is a full bath and the second is a large bathroom with shower; perfect for cleaning up after your river activities.
Bedroom one is on the main floor and has a California King bed and a Smart television. Bedroom two is on the main floor and has a queen size bed. Bedrooms three and four are upstairs where the 1940's charm and craftsmanship shines. Bedroom three has a full bed and bedroom four has two built in twin beds. You'll love this charming upstairs space!
The living room has plenty of space for lounging around, watching the smart TV or taking a mid afternoon nap.
Our eat in kitchen with new gas stove is fully equipped to satisfy your cooking needs. Sit at the table and watch the river go by as you enjoy a meal or play a game of cards! This is a favorite spot for many visitors.
We have two adirondack chairs in the back yard to sit in and watch the Toccoa River roll by. We recently (August 2023) added stone steps all the way into the river to give access to the water for fishing, kayaking, tubing, and swimming. While you’re in McCaysville, don’t forget to walk downtown to take your picture straddling the Georgia/Tennessee State line and try out some of the local restaurants. The river house is about 15 minutes from downtown Blue Ridge, Georgia where you'll find lots of shopping and dining experiences and 15 minutes from the Ocoee Whitewater Center, home of the 1996 Whitewater Olympics events. Though the visitor center burned a few years ago, there are year round hiking and biking trails available in the area in addition to seasonal commercial rafting or kayaking excursions on both the Ocoee and Toccoa rivers. As the description says, this is a 1940 River Cottage. It isn't a cabin. It isn't a new build, but we believe you will love this little charmer as soon as you walk in!

We enjoyed the location, it was very peaceful and close things we wanted to do. The house description was accurate and what we expected.

We enjoyed our stay there and we had a blast. My wife has knee problems and there being beds in the bottom floor was just perfect. The kids were in the top beds and my friends and I used the bottom beds. The place was really nice and well cleaned and it felt like we were at home. Truly an amazing experience thank you

Loved this place. Walking distance to town, mostly on the sidewalk, and to river tubing. Enjoyed relaxing under a giant magnolia tree right by the river. There are ducks and geese and even saw an otter. It was perfect.

We absolutely love staying at this home. This made our second time. The location is great with easy access to all the beautiful places around. Walking distance to a tube river rafting station. We love the history of the home. We will definitely be staying again. The only thing we suggest changing is to add a taller toilet to the main bathroom. Both bathrooms have very short toilets and it’s hard for an older person to get up and down. The home is always very clean and smells amazing and fresh. Thanks again for allowing us to stay at your home.

Sitting out in the back yard, watching the deer, geese, and ducks was so amazing and relaxing. We were in the back yard every afternoon just watching the water pass. The house was very clean. It had everything we needed. Bed was very comfortable. If we ever get up that way again, I would stay in this home again.

We needed to get away for a few days during Spring Break down here in Panama City so we headed to the Blue Ridge area. The house was perfect for our family of six. Three kids slept upstairs and one down stairs and we (the parents) stayed in the master bedroom. The place was clean and cozy. Kitchen was very functional so we could save some money on eating out. We even got in a little trout fishing in the back yard. We would definitely stay here again.

Dont let the outside of the house fool you. It is a very spacious home. The view from the kitchen window is a perfect shot of the Toccoa River that connects to the backyard. Getting to the water is easy. Its a good spot to fish and if it is warm enough they have steps to get into the water for kayaking. The upstairs is all original wood and is so beautiful. It definitely shows the age and workmanship. It is extremely clean and has everything you need already there. All you need is your personal items and food. There is plenty of seating. They even offer YouTube TV so you have something to watch. The beds are very comfortable. We were only there for the weekend but I really wished we could have stayed longer. Talking to Frankie and Sara was very easy. They responded very quickly every time I had a question. They are very nice people. I would highly recommend this place.

Enjoyed this well appointed house! Comfortable, clean, plenty of room for families and extra guests too. Very responsive property owners for questions or needs. Even help with lost items. Would highly recommend! Great spot to visit Blue Ridge Railroad, Apple Orchards, waterfalls and the shops in Mccaysville and Blue Ridge. Close proximity to many great locations.

The cottage was very clean and neat. Also the convenient location to the town of McCaysville. Sitting by the river out back and watch the geese swim by was very relaxing. We rode the Blue Ridge train and it went right by the cottage. We would like to come back with the family. The grandkids would have a blast. Thanks for a wonderful place to relax. Bob & Ruthie

Our entire vacation experience was most excellent with Sarah and Frankie - from online messaging for planning to last-minute changes. I felt like I knew them before I arrived. The check-in process was smooth and GPS accuracy spot-on. After arriving tired and late, we loved the tree lights to welcome us to the river. One of my brothers was a last-minute addition and he didn't know much about the property so he was delighted to find the entire upstairs loft area which much be magical to children. All the original woodworking and craftsmanship is amazing. My brothers set me up in what we dubbed the "Princess Suite" because the soft, comfy mattress is so lush - more comfortable than mine at home. We had every amenity we needed and having coffee by the river with a cool breeze and ducks floating by was magical this time of year in the scorching hot South. We were able to completely reset. Our only problem was not having enough time to see all your lovely Hometown has to offer. We'll be back! Would highly recommend this darling cottage anyway, but if you're not a fan of maneuvering mountainous roads, this rental is for you - all the restfulness without off-road driving!

This was our family’s first new year together and this home was perfect. We had space to enjoy game night, children had space to play and be themselves. Everyone played by the river and we will definitely be back. The town is close and quaint.

This place is cute. It is exactly like pictures. We enjoyed the river fishing, waved at people on scenic train from Blue Ridge standing right in front of the property. It is easily walkable to all the restaurants and shops in downtown. It is spacious. We had three middle school kids with us and they loved the hidden upstairs. We had a lovely time staying there.

What a wonderful place to stay
What surprise it was when we went inside and saw that it was just what we were looking for. There is ample room both in sleeping arrangements and fixing dinner and eating. Every room was very clean and large. We fished for trout in the river in the back yard. We did pretty good. Unfortunately my wife hooked into a very large trout and it broke her line.

Amazing home
This home was one of the best I have ever rented. It was beautiful and very clean. The views of the river were amazing. Easy access to the tubing places. Easy access to town and super close to everything you could want to do. I would definitely rent this home again and tell everyone about it. I also think the best part was it has amazing beds. I have stayed we’re the beds were terrible but not at this home. It was like sleeping on a cloud. The kitchen is equipped well also. Thanks for having an amazing home we will definitely love to visit again.

It snowed
We spent a weekend at Frankie and Sarah’s place for a 33rd wedding anniversary getaway. It was a cold (low of 13) stay - outside of the house. Heater worked great and the river view and snowy backyard was the only clue to how cold it was. Great internet, YouTube Tv with HBO add on helped with movie binging. Very close to downtown for lunch. The house was very clean and we would stay again.
