The property is a wonderfully done up collection of four old buildings. Lovely attention to detail and a great location.
As warned, no lift so best to pack light!

In the end, not a lot. We had several significant issues. But the owner was defensive in her responses rather than simply apologising for them and taking responsibility for the problems.
We appreciated her offer of a free breakfast to try and smooth things over but it was too little, too late.
Very disappointed in our stay here. Would not return or recommend. We booked from the info presented by their entry on booking.com and their reviews but clearly had a very different experience to everyone else.
They say there is parking - there isn’t. You find your own in the side streets or small car parks around the town.
We’d asked for a dinner booking for 1900 or 1930. They replied and said their restaurant was not open but they had booked us dinner at a nearby good restaurant they recommended. On arrival we discovered our booking was for 2000. They suggested arriving early and asking. When we did arrive at the restaurant, we were told that Sophie had CANCELLED our reservation THE DAY BEFORE! We were very upset and had to trawl around the town with a little help from the hotel receptionist to find somewhere else in the pouring rain. Instead of eating at one of the top rated restaurants in the town, we were taken to the one that was rated 39 out of 39 in Sisteron. One of our 4 meals was inedible, but the others were OK, service was slow.
At 10pm when we got back to the hotel, we discovered that the Wi-Fi in our room did not work - no signal at all from the suggested network. There was also a very questionable stain on one of the curtains.
Finally, we were in a top floor room. I had not realised there was no air-con but that was my mistake. There were fans in the room, but we could not have the ceiling fan on without the light on. Floor fan was noisy. To have the windows open, there was lot of street noise, including the middle of the night - bins and street cleaning. There are a lot of stairs and they are quite uneven.
This hotel overpromises and underdelivers. Just don’t bother. I like supporting independent businesses but would never go back to this one.

too hard to get to due to being on a closed pedestrian street and not easy to find
Getting our baggage from the vehicle to the hotel and up the steep stairs to our room

charming, quirky, central
Step down into the room (Citadel room) and step down to the bathroom area, dangerous.
Information about parking is misleading. Booking.com claims there is free parking at the hotel, but there isn’t . The hotel is situated in a narrow, mainly pedestrian, street where there is no parking. The hotel says it has a garage for a car, requiring reservation, and this is chargeable. There are car parks in the town, if you can find a space (it was very busy when we arrived) - some are nearer to the hotel than others, some are free, some are payable .

Lovely, romantic suite which was perfect for what we wanted.
Main TV reception was so poor as to make it almost unusable (for some reason the second, smaller TV in the bedroom had good reception). The wifi connection was agonisingly slow until about 11pm which was presumably when most people in the hotel stopped using it. At 8am on the day we were leaving someone started drilling into the wall adjacent to our bedroom meaning that we couldn't have the lie-in we wanted as it was so loud.

Very comfortable and beautifully decorated. all the details have been thought through.
So many stairs. Must be able to manage suitcases up a lot of staircases.

centre of town
Quite a few stairs

Really cute town. Nice hotel in the center of the old city.
Le Patio de Sophie is like the first day at college. Need parking- except for a couple of spaces, you are on your own. Room, four flights of stairs-no elevator. Room access-here is the pass code.
So, nice town and staff, but think college.

The hotel is located in a pedestrian street off the main road and is therefore pretty quiet. The room was charming and very personalised, not the bland décor of a big chain hotel. The bed was large and comfortable. The toilet is separate from the bathroom. There was closed parking available (a short walk away).
The hotel was advertised as having air-conditioning, but our room didn't. Fortunately the ceiling fan and a couple of free-standing floor fans were sufficient for us. The bathroom was tiny, with a tiny shower cubicle.

Romantic, beautiful hotel, clean, service by manou was perfect. we stayed 2 nights and we were allowed to swim in the cottage de Sophie, outside Sisteron. A little secret in the ‘ campagne’ close to Sisteron.
interior design is outstanding, all done by Sophie herself !!!

the girl who greeted us didn’t speak much English, but she was so lovely and helpful. the room was lovely decorated, old country house style with modern touch. it was clean, breakfast was b&b style, but generous and good. very good atmosphere. we would come back.
not enough of hot water in the shower (old house, we 100% understand, but perhaps worth mentioning anyway),

Great location.
Room standard - for example the wc wasn't securely fastened to the floor. It's an old building with its own charm, clean and nice in many aspects but the amenities wasn't up to standard.
No AC made it somewhat difficult to sleep.

Quirky replacement room layout.
Sophie apologised for chambre confusion.
Sisteron.
Hospitality experience disappointing.
Not given pre-booked 'Citadel' chambre (so no room terrace with view)
Crucially, not informed of this before or indeed immediately ON arrival.

Lovely decor in an ancient house supported by an excellent staff. Due to a brutal
heat wave our host moved us to a larger room on a lower level to counteract the heat. The AC made it very comfortable sleeping.
If you are a heavy packer you may find the stairway challenging but at 70 & 75 we managed just fine. A minor housekeeping issue hurt my rating.

Room was ok.
Tea facilities in room.
No elevator.
Far from parking.

The location is superb, however parking in town is limited. The hotel is beautifully decorated and very stylish. The size of the room was ample, and the breakfast was typical French petit dejeuner with offerings of cheese and charcuterie as well.
No safe in room.

The best location in the middle of old town. Ideal for exploring the city. Modern stylish decor, yet feels very homey. Freshly baked croissants. Sophie is a wonderful host. She even called to reserve a table for us in a cute French restaurant for us.
This is more of a quirk than a serious issue: to reach the toilet in our room (called Ble) one needed to descend a couple of steps. We had to be careful to watch our step at night.

Breakfast was served with option given to have eggs. It was tasty but options were somewhat limited compared to other hotels breakfasts.
No elevator so having more than one small luggage is probably best when visiting this hotel. No onsite parking although the owner advised us on what to do with our car.
