It is a typical old farmhouse Axarquia, very well preserved, simple and bright, retains the authentic taste of Andalusian farmhouses before, in which sleep facing a white roof of sticks and Cañaveras that will transport you to the past. Located in the Sierra near the Natural Park of the Sierra de Almijara, Tejeda and Alhama, position south, with beautiful views of the mountains, the fields and the sea, where they can enjoy the tranquility and the magnificent natural environment which surrounds, making it perfect for hiking. Just 2.5 km from our house can visit the recently restored Acebuchal villages, where you will find a restaurant where you can taste typical dishes of our land.

Traditional Spanish home in the countryside overlooking the coast. Very peaceful and relaxing - we rarely went out - just lazed by the pool and barbecued on the terrace most evenings. Excellent for anyone looking to get away from it all!

We had a wonderful stay in the mountains of Frigiliana. The view and surrounding was spectacular. The house and garden was absolutely fantastic , beautiful garden and swimming pool, from where you have a great look on the mountains and sea.
You can make really nice trips to nearby places such as Nerja, Torrox, Competa and also Malaga.
A special thanks to the owners Esther and Jesus, who have given us a very friendly welcome and have always been very fast in replying any question we have.

Schöne Finca in den Bergen
Esther hat uns in Frigiliana getroffen und zur Finca begleitet. Esther ist sehr freundlich und angenehm. Die Finca liegt relativ weit in den Bergen und die Aussicht ist malerisch. Wir konnten super mit unserer Hündin in einer phantastischen Landschaft wandern.

Great house with an amazing (sea) view!
We enjoyed our stay in 'el Cortijo Retama' very much. The house is traditional Andalusian and very cozy. You have everything you need at hand. We especially loved the terrace, the pool and the amazing view! The owners are very kind and the communication was easy. We would highly recommend this holiday house.

Beautiful Finca in lovely setting
Esther & Jesus have created a beautiful and authentic cottage, in an amazing setting. Both the interior and exterior have been finished simply but with great taste and the feeling is of an authentic, rural, Andalusian home but with all the modern conveniences required for the modern world.
We had a peaceful and relaxing week at the Finca, in late September. The weather was still great so were able to enjoy the pool, by day, and to sit out on the terrace in the evening, enjoying the view and a glass of the local wine. While the property is down a rural road, which twists up into the mountains, it is not remote and access to Frigiliana was only 10 minutes (by car) and a 20 minute drive to Nerja and the coast.
Lots of good walking and cycling locally.
We arrived quiet late (21.30 local time) but this was no issue for Esther and Jesus. Esther came to meet us, to guide us the last few miles to the property and to give us a tour and explain how everything worked. We didn't need anything during the week but they are local and willing to provide any assistance if and when needed.
We would definitely recommend the villa to those who want to be "off the beaten track" but not too far from all the local area has to offer.

Amazing experience
We also enjoyed our stay in this house very much. The location is exceptional, the house very comfortable and the pool is a real treat. Although difficult to access, we felt safe. The hosts were very responsive and welcoming. The paths around the house make for very pleasant walks with superb views of the surrounding mountains. Highly recommended.

“Away from it all”
We were looking for a home from home experience but without the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and that’s just what we found. The track to the cottage was an experience, fun with a challenge on the narrow mountain road, on arrival at the cottage we knew immediately it was what we’d been hoping for. Well stocked, clean and cosy and absolutely picturesque. Jesus the owner, although didn’t speak too much English, was friendly and welcoming and during our stay completely left us to it but was available (by what’s app / visit) if needed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to recommend this property to friends and family that choose to be somewhere that is “away from it all”

Traumort für die ganze Familie
Das Haus ist wirklich traumhaft schön und bietet viel Ruhe und Platz für die Kinder. Leider hatten wir ein bisschen Pech mit dem Wetter, und da die andalusischen Häuser wohl allgemein nicht auf Kälte ausgelegt sind, haben wir ein klein wenig gefroren. Jesús war so lieb und hat uns sofort mit Feuerholz versorgt, damit wir den Kamin anheizen konnten - vielen Dank nochmal! Ein kleiner Verbesserungsvorschlag von unserer Seite : es wäre schön, wenn es vor Ort eine Mappe gäbe mit Informationen zu Ausflugsmöglichkeiten (auch mit Kindern, z. B. zur cueva de Nerja), Wanderungen (man befindet sich ja direkt im Wandergebiet) oder anderen Tipps wie Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und Märkten. Die Region hat nach unserem Eindruck nämlich total viel zu bieten.

A fabulous place to get away from it all!
This is a lovely cottage in a beautiful setting. It has everything you could want to make your stay a very special one. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the owners were very helpful and attentive when needed, but equally leave you in peace to enjoy their fabulous house. The views are stunning, the house is very comfortable with air conditioning. The pool is set below the house and is well maintained. It has loungers, a table and chairs around it, as well as a parasol. We had a wonderful week and will look to return again soon!

Sehr gut ausgestattetes, geräumiges Ferienhaus mit großer, sehr sehr schöner zweigeschossiger Terrasse, gepflegtem Swimmingpool und wunderbarer Alleinlage. Etwas längere (ca. 7 Min.) Anfahrt über schmaler, teils steiler, geteerter Strasse. Schnelle, freundliche Kommunikation mit den Eigentümern. Komplikationslose Hausübergabe am An- und Abreisetag. Sehr zu empfehlen für Menschen, die etwas vom Touristenrummel in Andalusien Urlaub machen und nicht schnell oder hauptsächlich am Strand sein möchten. Nahe gelegenes Frigiliana schön zum Schlendern und Essen gehen.

The shower in this area is particularly useful and the views are stunning.A large outside dining table is perfect for eating out and entertaining, whilst being covered under a bamboo veranda. This property is a fair way into the national park and it takes a little effort to get there on largely single track roads but the elevation and quietness is a reward in itself. There are wild boar occasionally crossing the roads and eagles frequent the skies.The owners are delightful and will remain completely descrete, unless you need anything.Great base for visiting Frigiliana, Nerja etc.Lidl is 20 mins away for supplies and is well stocked.Great place to walk the mountains also.

Anadalusischer Traum
Das Ferienhaus hat in jeder Beziehung unsere Erwartungen übertroffen. Die Anlage ist sehr gepflegt und ansprechend. Alles ist sehr gut ausgestattet: Betten, Bad, Küche ... überzeugen. Aber natürlich ist alles auf Terrasse und Pool hin ausgerichtet, die uns viel Freude gemacht haben. Aber das Beste ist die Aussicht: Berge und Meer. Mehr kann man wirklich nirgends finden. Esther und Jesus haben jeden Wunsch erfüllt.
Das einzige, was man vorher wissen muss: der Weg ist keine Bundesstraße. Zwar (außer 200 m) alles Teer oder Beton, aber ganz schön steil. Aber nach ein paar mal üben macht auch das Spaß.
Eigentlich schreibe ich ja keine Bewertungen, aber dieses Haus ist wirklich eine ideale Urlaubsadresse!

Zeer compleet ingericht en rustig gelegen.
We werden opgehaald in het dorp en reden achter de eigenaar/beheerder aan naar het huis. Een rit van 15 minuten over verharde, steile en smalle weggetjes. Het huis ligt erg vrij en is van alle gemakken voorzien. Het zwembad was vanwege de tijd van het jaar nog te koud. Veel vogels in de omgeving en mooi uitzicht op de tegenoverliggende heuvels. Bij goed weer zicht tot aan de zee en Nerja. Steeds goede communicatie gehad met de eigenaar/ beheerders. Voor boodschappen moet je 15 km terug naar het dorp of 30 minuten verder rijden naar Nerja. Auto is noodzakelijk. Voor wandelaars genoeg mogelijkheden in de buurt. Samenvattend; prima bevallen.

Das Cortijo Retama ist ein wunderschönes Ferienhaus, eingebettet in ein ebenso schönes begrüntes Anwesen. Haus und Anwesen sind authentisch und sehr liebevoll gestaltet, ohne dabei aufdringlich zu wirken. Das Cortijo Retama ist sehr gepflegt und liegt wohltuend ruhig am Ende eines fast durchgehend befestigten, nicht zu langen Fahrweges.
Auch wenn sich dies alles wie die vollmundige Beschreibung in einem Ferienprospekt liest, ist es dennoch wahrhaftig so.
Und was wahrscheinlich so nicht in einem Prospekt stehen würde:
Die Vermieter des Ferienhauses – Esther und Jesus – waren uns äußerst zuvorkommende und liebenswerte Gastgeber. Sie ließen es sich zum Beispiel nicht nehmen, den Kühlschrank bei unserer Ankunft mit frischen Lebensmitteln zu befüllen oder uns vorausschauend ausreichend Feuerholz für ein paar wenige kältere Nächte (im November) diskret bereitzustellen.
Beste Voraussetzungen für einen fabelhaften Urlaubsgenuss - und wir haben unseren Urlaub genossen - fabelhaft!

Depayssement total , petite route bétonnée, sinueuse et abrupte dans les hauteurs de FRIGILIANA pour arriver au cortijo RETAMA . Cet endroit est unique , il domine la baie de NERJA et se marie entre les oliviers et les avocatiers sous les chants des cigales . le cortijo est magnifique autant dans sa dispôsition que dans sa decoration, rien ne manque . Esther et JESUS d'une grande discretion , tres attentionné et reagissent à toute demande . Merci encore pour ce sejour de reves dans cet endroit paradisiaque nous l'avons quitté à contre coeur mais nous nous sommes promis de revenir . Hasta luego , TITOUAN , ELLEN et JOEL .

Même si l'accès à la maison est un peu chaotique, la recompense est au bout du chemin !! Une merveilleuse maisonnette typique, confortable, jolie, fonctionnelle et très propre, en pleine nature, entourée d'oliviers, d'avocatiers et de fleurs. Le calme et la tranquillité, dans ce magnifique pays, par ailleurs très animé. Que du bonheur !
