About this house rental

A little outside Volos, at the foot of Centaur Mountain, you come across a lovely, charming, and above all, peaceful little village: Ano Gatzea.
Just two kilometers from the seaside fishing village of Kato Gatzea are a few houses scattered across the mountainside, a church, a tavern, the Olive Museum, and the Old Station. This is Ano Gatzea.
In the olive orchard beside the church, a house from a previous century was brooding in silence, steeped in memories, waiting to be filled again with sounds, colors, images and emotions.
In 2007, it came into the hands of the younger members of the family that had owned it for all of a century. Amalia and Antigone fell in love with this house and its surroundings, and with zest and zeal they decided to bring the house back to life, while retaining its character and charm.
Gradually, it turned into a retreat for family vacations and a starting point for group excursions. Friends could relax, children could build memories of summer holidays, and the two women themselves had found a refuge, a place to escape from the crazy commotion of Athens.
Realizing their friends’ enthusiasm and the children’s delight, they felt they should share it with others. Thus came the idea of renting. This house should not remain empty on days that none of their family or friends were able to visit.
They christened it “Villa Amanti” from the first few letters of their names. Amanti, which in Italian means lovers: lovers of the past, the present, of life, of joy and happiness…
And they offer it to you, for your own unforgettable moments.

Whether you are a couple, a company of friends, a group, or a family with children, this is the ideal place, because the feeling you are left with after a few days in the house is that “there is plenty of room for everyone, with no overcrowding.”

Moments that people have experienced in the house and have become indelibly etched on their memory could become your own memories too:

Reading by the morning light on the balcony; cooking together in the kitchen; yoga on the lawn in the lower courtyard; endless conversations and Scrabble matches with good wine in front of the fireplace; dancing under the stars in the moonlight; feasts with guitars around the garden table, with the barbecue aglow and your hearts floating free.

All will find their own little nook.

How can you say no:

• to a traditional house, by both sea and mountain, remote but at the same time so close to Volos, from where you can set off to the picturesque villages of Pelion and their magical beaches, to the ski center, or the nearby islands?
• to a comfortable house, where you can go with your entire company, all year round, and do nothing but chat, play, and cook with your friends?
• to a charming house, for spending a romantic weekend, with endless relaxation and walks to the traditional taverns?
• to a beautiful house, for family vacations, where you can enjoy your coffee on the balcony without worrying about the children, while they play safely in the playground or have fun with the various board games that come with the house?

“We set the scene. Bring your cast and live your own script”

Perfect house in a perfect location
Perfect house in a perfect location
We (two families, 10 people altogether) loved every minute of our stay. A lot of love and thought has been put into this house. There was delicious fresh fruit on the table when we arrived, the fridge was full of other goodies, the beds were very comfortable, the view from the terrace is stunning etc.... Antigoni was very friendly and helpful - we really can't fault this place! It was a pleasure going down to the beach through the beautiful olive groves where we found nice clear water to bathe in and little, friendly tavernas serving delicious food at the end of the walk. There are also plenty of other things to do near Ano Gatzea - one week was far too short! Would love to come again.

we were 2 families, 4 adults and 4 children. It was lot of fun for the children that played in the playground and had a lot of games and books. the view is beautiful and the balcony was the perfect place to sit in the evenings or during the afternoons. The house is fully equipped with everything you might need on your vacation. it is clean and very good maintained. Amalia, the hostess was very kind and helpful. she was always available to give us all the information we needed and to answer our needs and we used all her recommendations. We highly recommend coming here.

Beautiful house in tiny village among olive groves. The owners are extremely professional and helpful in every way. They really helped us enjoy the week fully, with very thoughtful and generous support. The sea is just a short walk through the olive groves. The village of Kato Gatzea is very nice, small and quiet with great places to eat. Just a few metres from the house is a great local restaurant. Up the hill is the incredible railway station with the train that passes one time each day. We walked all the way down the railway line and it was beautiful (90 minutes walk). There are great places to visit all along the coast and in the hills.

Really beautiful house is lovely little village. Ten minutes walk to tiny beach through olive groves. Great restaurant beside the house. Amazing little railway station 10 minutes walk up hill (we walked along the rail to the beginning of the line in 90 minutes). Great places to visit on the coast and in the hills. I love Kato Gatzea and had great meals there. Most of all the incredible owners of the house who were so very good to us in so many ways. Thank you :)

Comfortable, atmospheric, helpful owners
Comfortable, atmospheric, helpful owners
Stayed for 1 week with 4 adults and 5 children. Enough space, certainly considering that its an old house. Which gives lot of atmosphere. Carefully decorated, very helpful host, eg reservations, tickets, local information. In summer, a pool is missing, but plenty of choice from nearby (15-45min drive) beaches

So all the other reviewers are right this is a fantastic place to stay. My advice is, if it matches your specification then do not hesitate snap it up. The Villa is as it appears in the pictures, it is a charming old stone house set on the side of a hill with the most amazing views. What is good about it? First the welcome, despite several changes in our arrival time Amalia accommodated us and had the house in a beautiful sate for our arrival, she even did extra shopping for us in advance because the shops were closed. The house is so well stocked; from kitchen gadgets to beach and bath towels if you wanted it, it was there. No need for a rush round the shops to buy loo roll, tea or clothes pegs, they were all to hand. There were so many lovely touches like fresh herbs, books and toys for children and organic bathroom products. If you are travelling with children or by plane I would strongly advise that you check what they have as it may seriously lighten your luggage and make your life easier to find that stair gate / game of Othello / coffee maker is already there. The hosts are so good they will even get things in, we asked for hula hoops and they arrived! Everything was spotlessly cleaned and well maintained, inside and out, the lovely guest towels and sheets made everything feel touched with a little luxury. The location is great for beaches and there is taverna in a very short distance from the Villa where you can eat in the later half of every week. See the very bottom of the review for a few local tips. The house and garden is comfortable as it is set on a mountain it is not massive, yet despite that there are so many different places to stop, relax, read a book, admire the view drink coffee or beer, I don’t feel we did it justice in only 2 weeks. What is bad about the house? Well the kitchen is a little small, but was never a problem for us, Greek mountain driving in the dark was a bit scary on arrival and it is hard enough to go home from holidays, going home from here was nearly impossible. If this property is the right size and location for you - grab it before someone else does. Local tips: You can walk to the shops and 2 beaches by turning down the hill after the taverna past the goats. Hold to the path to get to the small local beach but pull off a little to the left following the red paint marks to get to the bakers and the Rivera resort and beach. The closest beach is super for swimming and has a changing cubicle and beach shower, b
