About this lodge
Our camp is road accessible, but very remote. It is the second to last camp on the undeveloped north shore of the "Big Lake." We are "off the grid" and generate our own power via solar panels, storage batteries and back up generator. The privacy, expansive views across the widest part of the lake, beautiful sunsets and brilliant stars are the reasons we chose such a remote location. The massive windows in the great room allow you to enjoy the lake vistas even while indoors. The camp has a master suite with a queen-sized bed looking out over the lake, a single bedroom with a queen-sized bed, a double bedroom with two full beds, and bunks for six children in the finished basement. The basement also has a pool table, a ping-pong table, and a large movie screen for evening entertainment. The open floor plan, easy traffic flow, and bathrooms at each floor level lend themselves to entertaining a large group comfortably. The off-grid solar system is state of the art, and you would never know you are off the grid. The camp has a bathroom and shower on each floor, propane and wood heat, a dishwasher, washer and dryer, and ceiling fans in the great room and master suite. The kitchen is modern, thoughtfully designed, and well equipped - soapstone counter tops, over-sized island between working area and living space, gas oven and range. There is a stone path to the lakeside deck and deep-water dock. There is a secure mooring, but it can get rough out there on such a large expanse of lake and precautions are necessary on occasion.
Our family and friends use the camp as much as we can, hence it is not typically available for rent. We rent at reasonable rates because it pains us to see such a beautiful place go unused.
Activities:
Boating - the lake is 13 miles long and 4 miles wide. Hazards beyond 200' of shoreline are clearly marked by the state. Popular trips include kayaking along the undeveloped north shore, viewing the sunset from the narrows, going to Earley's Falls where the cool waters of Wilson Stream pour into the lake, going to the outlet of the lake to jump off the bridge, going to the Peaks-Kenney beach in South Cove, or just going over to Greeley's Landing for ice cream.
Fishing- Native salmon, lake trout and smallmouth bass are very plentiful in Sebec. Several remote ponds in Bowerbank accessible only by logging roads and ATV trails offer good native WILD and HERITAGE brook trout fishing: Grapevine ponds, Bear, Mill, Hurd, Buttermilk ponds, Mud, Duck... the list of ponds that support native brookies goes on and on. The East Outlet of Moosehead Lake (1.25 hrs) and the West Branch of the Penobscot (2hrs) both offer excellent opportunities to fly fish for wild LL Salmon and brook trout in a wild and scenic river setting from shore or from drift boat.
Hiking - There are numerous mountains, waterfalls and pristine, gin-clear swimming holes in the area to visit. Piopular destinations include: The Nature Conservancy at Borestone Mountain, Onawa Trestle (Maine's highest railroad trestle), Barren Mountain, White-Cap Mountain, Mount Kineo, KI-Jo-Mary Recreation Area , Gulf-Hagas, Hay Brook Falls, High Bridge Falls. While Hiking in the KI-Jo-Mary area, stop in for dinner at AMC's Chairback or Lyman camps.
ATV - Several ATV trail systems maintained by local ski-mobile clubs interconnect to form a seemingly endless network of trails. You can ride your ATV right from our camp to the trailhead just 2miles away. GPS is highly necessary - it's big country out there.
Golf - Dover Foxcroft golf course is fairly close by, VERY reasonably priced, VERY kid-friendly, and fairly well maintained. For a full day golf adventure, take ferry from Greeneville to play the historic Mt. Kineo Hotel course.
Day Trips - Greeneville on Moosehead Lake (appx. 1.25 hrs), Baxter Park and Maine Woods and Waters (appx. 1.25 hrs), Acadia Park (appx. 2 hrs),
Whitewater Rafting on West Branch Penobscot (appx. 1.25 hrs to staging area)
Around Camp - swim, fish, boat, kayak, canoe, pick berries, view the incredibly brilliant stars, nap in the hammock, read a book, enjoy a campfire by the lake, disconnect from wifi and reconnect with loved ones. High speed wifi is available.

Beautiful camp on Sebec lake, off grid with just enough to make everything comfortable. Thought of everything we might need and plenty to enjoy

My family of 4 stayed along with another family of 4 over four nights. The house, yard and dock provided plenty of space for us. The kids loved the bunk room with games. The adults especially loved the setup and views from the great room. We did a lot of fishing off the dock and there was a sunset view from down by the water as well. House was comfortable, clean, and had everything we needed for our stay!

We were absolutely thrilled with this place. The views are incredible. It's very private and remote (though be prepared for the neighbors to stop by and say hi). There was no noise - all nature sounds. The waves on the lake were enormous, which the teens loved. They went paddleboarding and kayaking in the whitecaps! There is a giant kitchen table that the teens sat around and played D&D and board games, and the living area was very comfortable and accomodating for multiple guests. It was super clean and the kitchen is well appointed (all the extras like muffin tins, baking dishes, mixing bowls, colandar, etc). The water pressure is excellent for showers! The wifi was great and we were able to get a cell signal down by the water if needed. The owner was very responsive and welcoming. We had one tiny issue with power and the owner took care of us right away. Overall an excellent place to rent and we hope to come back!

We loved our time at camp, being at the end of the road, and no cell service. Great views and privacy abound!

This place is gorgeous, serene, and somewhat surreal! Architecturally beautiful, well-decorated, and well-equipped.
With all that serenity comes distance from convenience. The closest anything is about 45 minutes away. We planned accordingly, so that we didn't need to go to the supermarket more than once during our one week stay. That was important in making our stay much more enjoyable.
A few things could have been better, but nothing that would stop us from going back. Our stay was memorable, and we’d definitely stay here again.

Amazing property and very accommodating owners
There is something really special about this property and Lake Sebac. We enjoyed the amazing view out of the expansive windows that over look the Lake. Waking up to that every morning created a serene atmosphere to drink coffee. The sunsets were beautiful, the lake is pristine. We fished off the dock and caught many fish. I enjoyed the paddle board trips into the sunset and refreshing dips in the lake. Having no WiFi was not a problem as it gave us a week to unplug and enjoy life unadulterated. The beds are comfortable, the house was clean and very spacious. The solar power ran perfectly, the water pressure was great. We felt very at home and decided it was our best lake vacation we’ve taken.

Just What We Wanted!!!
Amazing property, this is exactly what we were looking for and then some. The amenities on this property are above and beyond. They have thought of so much. The use of his kayaks and paddleboard were great. My son learned to kayak and we taught our daughter how to paddleboard. We fished off their deck daily. We swam daily. The house had everything we needed. The owners were accessible and responded to our questions quickly. If you want to unplug from the normal day to day this is the place to do it. It was quiet, the only noise we heard was the loons and an occasional boat. This is a GEM property to vacation in.

Amazing stay
We had an absolute blast staying at this well maintained and spacious lake house. The owner could not have been more helpful and quickly answered any questions I had and stressed to let him know if we needed anything again. Thanks for sharing your amazing home with us and we will gladly rent again!

Off grid with all the amenities of home!
Truly can’t say enough nice things about our stay... We had a family reunion which my brother and I cooked all of the food. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook with and everyone had a comfortable place to sit. Was truly one of the best weeks in my life..... It is very secluded with little to no cell service but if you plan out your meals and days, you have no need to leave. We went into Guilford for a day of paint ball but otherwise spent our days at the house. Truly a perfect vacation!

Amazing property
Our fourth year coming up to Sebec for a week and this was our favorite property by far. The house is beautiful, with high ceilings, a big open floor plan, and floor to ceiling glass providing a view of the lake. Plenty of room and extremely comfortable. A walk down to the dock where we spent most of our time by the firepit. Owner provided clear instructions and was only concerned with us having a great week. Thank you!

Peaceful and gorgeous lakefront retreat!
This is an absolutely beautiful rental on a quiet and peaceful part of the lake. Though remote and “off the grid”, it has everything you need to relax on vacation. The kitchen is well equipped and the basement room with a pool table and bunk beds was fun for the kids. The solar power and back-up generator worked flawlessly. We used the kayaks and loved the floating dock, high jump, hammock, and waterfront fire pit. The sunsets from the dock were not to be missed. The owner was accessible and extremely helpful and accommodating. We are hoping to return next year for a longer stay!
