Lovely house in a beautiful setting. Plenty of space for our large family group. Great communication. There are lovely walks around the estate and plenty of activities on site for all ages. We also enjoyed a meal in the restaurant.

The house was absolutely perfect and nothing was overlooked.

Well equipped, plenty of space. Top floor with 2 bedrooms and one shower room got very warm during heatwave. All rooms equipped with fans. Large deck space just outside 2 of the 3 ground floor bedrooms with large open plan lounge/diner/kitchen on 1st floor. Close to central facilities and bins/recycling. As pictures show the property is by the side of Clearwater, except there are now loads of rushes/reeds which slightly impede the view.

Overall a great property for a family stay. Very well equipped and comfortable beds. Generally clean, but a few areas could have done with a ‘deep clean’ or are looking a little tired. The interior staircases are quite tricky for older/younger family members, but the stair gates provided would be a big plus for families with young children. Lower Mill Estate is a fabulous place to stay, the spa area is good and the Ballihoo Restaurant is also a great facility. The walking trails are well signposted and maintained.

We booked a family long weekend at Velvet Lodge. Great set up at the house with a big communal dining and living area. On site there are different activities including tennis, swimming, volleyball, soft play and lots of lake activities. Great place for families as all self contained.

We stayed for New Year, the house was cosy, warm and had plenty of space for the 10 of us. Beds were comfy, the kitchen had everything we needed and everyone from ages 4 - 51 enjoyed themselves! The location is lovely and we enjoyed using the spa, pool, gym and little bar around the corner. All in all, it was a lovely stay, I can imagine it is even better in the summertime!

We had a family gathering for a special celebration and chose Velvet Lodge as I’d been to the estate before. The house itself was very well equipped for a group of 11 and there was plenty of space to congregate. Very comfortable and good quality.
Of note: steep stairs from ground floor bedrooms to living area. Difficult to find dog walking area. Overflow car park directions need changing as incorrect.

Great for a family holiday. Our ages ranged from 16 months to 89 years plus a dog. Lovely property , plenty of space and very well equipped. We enjoyed the patio and balcony overlooking the lake.
Only slight moan is that the oven isn’t really big enough when catering for so many.

We stay away every year for Christmas and this property was by far the best we have stayed in!

A wonderful place to stay, though the photograph must be old as the lake is now very overgrown! Or is it of a completely different accommodation, if so then this is very misleading??
Certainly for the high cost of it , we would have appreciated some complimentary toiletries and a plug in the upstairs bathroom.
It’s our understanding that there is a noise curfew but we had the “ pleasure “ of a really loud karaoke till 2am!
Again for the price we paid we were very disappointed with the restrictive opening times of the spa.
Overall a lovely space for our party of ten and we all found the beds to be comfortable .

A great property in a beautiful setting with plenty of added bonuses!
This impressive property is split over three levels to maximise its impact! We were delighted with the layout, the standard of the property and the supplies provided such as a full stash of tea & coffee. The location is beautiful and we were able to spot lots of wildlife from the deck: oystercatchers, moorhens and the like. The birdsong was stunning. We took the short walk at dawn to the beaver wildlife hide but didn't get to see them so clearly we'll have to make a return visit!

Family Weekend Away
Perfect location to celebrate my 60th birthday with family. The Open plan living area was ideal for us all to be together. We ate brunch at Balihoo which was great, booked the soft play for the younger members of the family and used the pool and spa too. The weather was lovely and we enjoyed stunning walks around the estate.

Excellent 5 bedroom lodge with large lounge/dining/kitchen on first floor and outside decking areas on two levels. West facing at rear and overlooking a lake in the centre of the site with Indoor/Outdoor pool, Spa and Cafe/Restaurant all nearby. Good pubs within 10 mile radius and good shops in Cirencester about a 15 minute drive away.Lodge is beginning to show some wear and tear with bedding and furnishings etc.. and it was difficult to keep bedrooms warm enough (November).

Our group consisted of family & friends 4 adults (43-44 yrs) and 5 teenagers (11, 13, 16, 17 twins) for an October school half term retreat. It was perfect for all of us. The number of shower en-suites were ideal. The open living space of the lounge and kitchen was great and the sunset in the lounge and patio area was lovely late afternoon and evening.Would be great to see a small hot tub fitted on the patio.Kitchen had lots of utensils and amenities, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer perfect for a winter stay to dry wet clothes.Very peaceful location around the entire resort, very tranquil and friendly families and resort staff.Resort had plenty to offer on-site with no extra charge- indoor and outdoor heated pool, play area, tennis. Great for walks and bike rides.Small onsite shop but didn’t sell milk.Big supermarkets only 4 miles away.Lovely nature trails and waterparks. Not far from lovely Cotswolds, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire towns.Highly recommend our stay and would definitely like to return again in the future.

Lovely home and fantastic location!
We had a wonderful weekend away int his very well equipped home. My only negative is that we shared the cost between couples and some just get a better deal than others. The bunk bed room could do with an update and a larger more comfy bed if sleeping adults

Perfect place for that special family celebration (but take an outdoor patio umbrella if it’s sunny!).

Great for all the family whatever the age
I booked for my grandchildren, (aged 6,8,10 & 19), our children, (all in their 30’s) and my wife and myself, (65 & 70), for 7 days which were over far too quick.
We all had a great time together. The house has 5 large bedrooms, the 3 smallest grandchildren had the bunk bed with a double under and took turns in the top bunk.
They enjoyed the free tennis, play area and the swimming. They were so occupied they had no time to hire the bikes! The large lounge/dinner had a tv which was rarely used as they enjoyed playing cards with their auntie and grandparents.
We we local to many wonderful villages for day trips.
Only one very minor comment. We unfortunately arrived at the Mayfly mating season and we could not enjoy the spacious balconies over looking the lakes. Would we stay again, a resoundind yes from us all. John

Home from home and Nature too.
The location is fantastic on the edge of the lake with plenty of wildlife to watch morning, noon and night. Also some lovely walks around the larger site.
The property really was a "home from home"with all those little things that you forget to pack or have to go and buy lots of for just one meal. The entertainment equipment was great for the kids, and adults, although we didn't make use of all of it.
We used the on site pool, which has steam room, sauna and outdoor pool which gave us very stimulating temperature changes and must have been good for us!! The tennis court also had our patronage as did the on site restaurant for a family meal on our final evening, excellent food.
We had a great day out at the Cotswold Wildlife Park which was only 40 mins drive away.
Al in all a relaxing, healthy and enjoyable short break. A great place for family holidays.

Chillled, relaxed, family, fun times
Just got back from a weekend here with family for a surprise for my parents. The House was fantastic and location brilliant. We didn’t leave the park, just chillled in the grounds, at the spa and in the house. There were 3 families here but plenty of space for us all. The Xbox 360 Kinectics was a huge hit with all of us. Such good fun all shaking off some great moves. The house was very well equipped with plenty of crockery, glasses etc. Problem with the dishwasher was sorted out over a few texts, very accommodatjng. Lots of toilets and bathrooms so all Managed to get ready to go out for dinner with our anyone having to hang around. Would
Recommend the “wild duck” in Ewen, 10 minute drive away. Food amazing and staff & service excellent.
We will definitely come back again to Velvet Lodge as it has been a fabulous chilled weekend. Great way to finish off the summer holidays.
