Beautiful rooms; exceptional service; very comfortable

The Kandy House - lovely place, we only spent one night, but we loved it. Slightly overpriced as it’s more of a boutique residence hotel which gives a homely feel, rather than a luxury 5 star. The pool was great and service was very good also compared to other places where we’ve been in Sri Lanka. Food was tasty also and had good variety. Only downside they don’t have driver accommodation, only outside of the hotel and it’s extra cost

The Kandy House was our favourite hotel in Sri Lanka aesthetically and for service and in our opinion should be the model for for all manor houses in Sri Lanka in terms of interiors, grounds and operations. The house has been kept in impeccable condition, preserving the beautiful heritage while flawlessly balancing more modern Sri Lankan artists and textiles. We were only in Kandy briefly, and the hotel manager who personally greeted us on arrival, organized a quick tuk tuk tour of the highlights, a beautiful meal, packed lunches for the train journey the next day while also making sure we had time to enjoy the beautiful pool and grounds. The manager was exceptional at his job. Everything ran like clockwork. The staff were attentive, courteous and discreet. The food was amazing. We arrived exhausted and departed less than 24 hours later with a new vibrancy after delicious food and deep rest. This is the kind of hotel you want to live in and I would have spent an extra day in Kandy just to have one more night at this property. This is the experience one always hopes for. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Everything was just perfect.

Beautiful and secluded with a vista of the padi fields and a wonderful swimming pool.
the ground floor bedroom is next to the dining away and despite the best efforts of the staff is vulnerable to excited guests late in the evening

We adored The Kandy House. Understated elegance, superb service from Ajantha and Damith, our personal butlers. A small hotel with just 9 marvellous bedrooms, lovely garden and very pretty pool. The food was outstanding - especially our evening curry feast! We were sorry to leave the peace and beauty of this Sri Lankan ancestral home and would LOVE to go back one day.

Gorgeous place away from downtown Kandy. Really relaxing (you do get woken up by Buddhist chanting around 4am and that keeps going forever, but it didn't bother us too much. )
This is being picky, I know, but having to pay for a cafe latte at breakfast, when this is supposed to be a luxury property ( and you certainly pay for a luxury property). Anywhere the world over cappuccino and c latte is standard coffee with breakfast. Only had a fruitplatter, none of the eggs, bacon, sausages or Sri Lankan curry b'fast - those are all included in the price you pay for your room.....but cafe latte is not ( you get plunger coffee for free). Come on Kandy House...you are not a hostel.
Bathroom smelled from the piping. Covered drains with towels, then it was ok.

One of my favourite ever hotels that I have stayed at. The property is an old colonial and historic mansion that has been very stylishly decorated (and is very prettily lit up at light). The vibe is very luxurious and the service was better than anything I have experienced before (you get a personal butler looking after every one of your whims after all!). The infinity pool overlooking the rice paddies is gorgeous and the quite and relaxing location was perfect for getting away from the hustle and bustle of Knady town centre.
