About this cottage rental
An awarded Airbnb Superhost and with Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence, Number Eleven is possibly the only 170 year old labourer’s cottage with an outdoor sauna! Located in the quintessential village of Great Gransden, the cottage provides a luxurious base with which to explore Cambridgeshire and the East of England. Number Eleven also makes an ideal base for visiting academics or parents to Cambridge University that don’t wish to be in the middle of town.
We want to ensure that you have the best possible stay here. Number Eleven is run by Andy next door. It’s my job, not a hobby or an investment so I want to do it properly. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help. I try to be as ecologically minded as I can be and make Number Eleven as interesting and comfortable as possible.
Number Eleven is different. You probably only need to remember your PJs and toothbrush! Pamper yourself with locally made natural soap, a Faith in Nature shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom. Or relax in the sauna........
Have a look at the design collections through the decades in the cottage, and revel in the analogue world of the mix tape! For all 80's audio boffs, there's a Pioneer amp and speakers, and Technics cassette deck for use. Go, on dig out your mix tapes and bring them with you. Your phone doesn't care about you and your iPod's dying. (Plug in aux facilities for your phone are available.....)
Downstairs is a cosy living room with an inglenook fireplace almost the depth of the house and nearly the height of the room! A fire pack is ready to go upon arrival, and logs/coal can then be purchased separately from local shops for the remainder of your stay. The whole house is also heated by Fischer Future Heat radiators. A 43" TV in the lounge also streams the web with access to your Netflix account.
The kitchen is custom fitted with a ceramic hob and bright red resin worktops. Fridge/washing machine, iron/board are all included. Drying facilities are available if required. Filtered water on tap. Bespoke hand made crockery is from the Isle of Skye made by Edinbane Pottery; ask us about how it came to be.
Both bedrooms have double beds with high count quality bedding, storage, hanging facilities, bedside lights, chairs, DVD players, radios with aux facilities, charging cables and make up/shaving mirrors.
The bathroom has a powerful digital shower, bath, sink, toilet and a bar of naturally locally made soap. High quality shampoo and moisturisers are also provided along with cotton wool pads and buds (not plastic!).
Babies and children are well catered for with cot, changing mat, bath, stool, toys and games galore.
Please note that guests 5 and 6 will be accommodated on a comfortable sofa-bed in the lounge. There is a £20 charge for this to cover extra laundry costs and it must be booked prior to arrival. The amount will be requested from you once you have booked and paid, online or on arrival.
Dogs are welcome with prior notice given at the time of booking; throws, towels and bowls are provided in the Pooch Pouffe in the lounge. Please keep them off the furniture (who chose that sofa?). If Fido's not 100% happy with this arrangement, please use the throws provided in the Pooch Pouffe!

Vrbo too techy for me and I didn't use the app. The place was great thanks and Andy and I communicated by text the staff at Vrbo were helpful when I phoned them.

Equipped with fun decor and an attentive host, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the English countryside. Friendly people at the local pub, great walks in and around the country, and accessible to Cambridge. Will go again!
4.0 / 5.0
The owners have put a lot of thought into furnishing the property so that it is comfortable yet retains a lot of the original period features. It is particularly suitable for families but couples are also catered for. The local shop is an absolute gem and carries a huge range of stock. The only suggestion for improvement is that a clothes dryer would be handy, particularly is wet weather.

We’re a family with two small children visiting family in the area. #11 was the prefect spot for us. The house is lovely & the hosts helpful. The village itself had everything we need - from a local store & charming pubs nearby to charming country walks on the doorstep.
We’d 100 percent recommend a stay and look forward to returning ourselves.

Quirky cottage
A lovely place to stay, almost everything we could ask for including lots of things for the dog. Strangely, there were 3 different ways to make coffee but no teapot, just a minor point though. The Roku stick didn't work either but we didn't bother asking the host about either as they weren't major issues. Thank you, it was fab.

Andy has thought of everything-from freshly baked bread and coffee beans ready for grinding to an amazing array of music and speakers in every room. Every question of “where” or “how” you might have is answered right where you need it!

“International” Family reunion after Christmas
We had a most wonderful time in this gem of a cottage (and, in fact, gem of a village !).
From the first to the last minute (which unfortunately as always came too fast) we felt totally welcome, and immediately went into “absolutely relaxed” status.
Andy pays a lot of attention to even little details - that starts with supplying us upon arrival with superb fresh bread and nice chocolate, and continues with providing very useful information (e. g. an update on the opening times of the local store and pub, which proved to be extremely helpful as we arrived in a Holiday Season).
All of the rules and regulations are very clear and quite sensible (we loved the emphasis on local services and eco-friendliness) - and are often written down with whimsical pictures and humour accompanying the “advice” - our little daughters also chuckled many a times.
The fireplace gives the whole place such a festive feeling - we spent countless hours gathered around it.
Oh. And. Yes - we totally approved of the selection of tapes, and were quite saddened that we could only listen to about half of them on the HiFi-system during our stay.
A place to which we are definitely hoping to return !

Lovely cottage, great location and brilliant dog walking
Lovely cottage in a great location with lots of quirky and interesting décor.
Great place to stay with four legged friends, the walking in the local area is very good and it is just a half an hour drive into the centre of Cambridge.
Andy was very helpful during our stay and the freshly baked bread was delicious.
Thanks Andy for having us.

Lovely and comfy cottage nr Cambridge
We had a fantastic stay (2 nights) at no11, a lovely 2-bedroom cottage located in a small village within a short distance from Cambridge. The cottage is extremely well-equipped with all amenities (great shower and modern kitchen) and decorated with great taste and originality. The village is quiet and the back garden was much appreciated by our golden retriever puppy, who was an accepted guest by Andy. The home made bread was tasty and a nice touch for breakfast. The small food shop in the corner street provided the necessary for the remainder of our breakfast. We will definitely stay there again.

Outstanding sanctuary in a perfect location
From the home-made bread upon arrival to the kindness of the owner upon leaving, our stay was absolutely perfect. This is a great location from which to explore the area, and a wonderful (very clean yet comfortable) retreat once the activities of the day are completed. We can't praise Andy, or the house, enough, and will be planning our next visit soon.

Comfy bed, toasty log fire what more could you want in ac cottage
Lovely quality bed linen and a very comfy bed. Perfect. Generous log fire to lounge by and listen to the quiet of the countryside.
It’s anyyhig but twee so if you’re looking for an all round country cottage trip this won’t be it but the essentials are definitely there.

Well located, clean and comfortable, friendly host. Suitable for travellers with limited luggage.
We had a comfortable stay at Andy’s place. We are Australians on a 5 week driving tour on England. We come with corresponding amount of luggage. We decided not to carry our suitcases up the steep narrow stairway, because we considered to bring them down was too perilous. We kept cases in living room which impacted on space, Suggestion for Andy is to position food scrap bin outside the kitchen. It appears flies attracted by the bin enter the house via chimney.

Lovely Stay
My husband and I with our two grown up children stayed at this lovely cottage on Friday and Saturday night. We were attending a family wedding nearby. Didn’t want for anything. Everything was clean and welcoming. Andy the owner met us and was very informative. We used both bedrooms and the sofa bed for sleeping all of which were comfortable. Plenty of hot water, a good shower and we used the hair dryer provided and the iron and ironing board. Only used the kitchen cooking facilities for breakfast, tea, bacon rolls, cheese and ham croissants but everything there we needed. Wouldn’t hesitate to return if we were looking for accommodation in the area.

We had a fantastic stay at Andy’s lovely cottage. Everything we needed was at the house. Great place
A super character cottage with all the facilities required. Great village pub and post office for the daily essentials. Good pubs in nearby villages with good food. Fantastic host who was helpful when needed but not intrusive and gave us our privacy. We would definitely recommend this lovely property.

Great cottage
We loved our stay in this great little cottage. 6 of us stayed the night before a wedding and it was plenty big enough for all the build up and the hair dresser in the morning. The finishing touches are really great, from chocolates and fresh coffee, to the owner living just next door and being on hand to help with any quick questions. The house itself is full of character, and we all had a great nights sleep. The location is lovely and peaceful but there is a shop just around the corner for the essentials. There's hundreds of books, DVD and cassette tapes on offer too! If we ever need to stay in the area again we will definitely be back, and we are more than happy to recommend! Thanks!

Perfect little cottage
The visit was so we could do a flight at Duxford. We brought mum & Dad, and spent a few nights in the cottage. Shame the pub was closed! Andy provided freshly Baked bread and chocolates which went down nicely with the ingredient we managed to buy at the local shop to make a lasagna, and we used some great spices from Andy spice rack, we drank wine on the Sunny Patio, is was lovely. But beware of a few Mosquitoes, top tip (have spray, handy) The facilities was perfect, Beds were very comfortable. And for breakfast we also had nice croissants baked especially for us by the village shop. in all couldn’t of asked for better. Mum , Dad my Husband and I has a great time.
Thank you Andy.

Beautiful quaint cottage in idyllic countryside
My friends stayed here for my wedding. We arrived and there was freshly made bread in the kitchen. Andy washed and replaced the towels during our stay and would carry out requests that we asked. He maintained the garden, let us play with his dogs and the property was of a very high standard. In addition, on my wedding day, he left a card of congratulations. I couldn’t have been happier for my friends to stay here.

Great place to stay.
Great place to stay, Andy very helpful from start to finish and the house is comfortably furnished ( I now want a Chez Longue). Have already recommended No 11 to friends. Handy shop literally across the road. I brought my elderly Mother here for a quiet holiday as we have both had a very unsettled time, and needed a complete privacy and peace with plenty of places to visit and return home to rest up in the evening. Thanks Andy
