The Heard House, in the heart of downtown Murphys, is a sweet, single-level cottage completely rebuilt in 2008 with all the charm and character of a bygone era, thoughtfully updated with today's comforts and conveniences. Easy walking distance to everything downtown, including the Murphys Hotel, shops and restaurants, two dozen wine tasting rooms, community park and river. Located on a sunny and fenced 1/3 acre parcel in a residential neighborhood just one block off Main Street, the cottage is nicely set back at the rear of the property and hidden from the street, so you have all the privacy you crave, without the traffic and noise issues of downtown. The open and airy living room has vaulted ceilings and a toasty gas fireplace. The kitchen is well-stocked for cooking and entertaining, with coffee beans, half and half, teas and spices, a vintage gas stove, microwave, coffee maker, coffee grinder, blender, and breakfast bar seating. Five star amenities like chocolates by the bedside, fresh flowers, snacks and free WIFI have it stand out from the rest. The bedroom has a queen-sized bed, with down comforter and duvet cover. The bathroom has vaulted ceilings, skylight, a clawfoot tub/shower combo, hair dryer, and hotel toiletries. Split unit Heating and AC, ceiling fans in the living room and bedroom, and a gas fireplace for your comfort. Private deck with bench seating and an umbrella-shaded table is the perfect spot for relaxing with your morning coffee, plus a gas BBQ, outdoor shower and a horseshoe pit you’re welcome to use. Relax and enjoy watching the squirrels, birds, turkeys and occasional deer that frequent a large, open area behind our property, or grab a night time beverage and take in the starry sky. Fully fenced yard, and at times it will be shared with our dog. If you're looking for somewhere special to relax and unwind, the Heard House is a perfect place to call home

My wife and I really like the location of this place. It is walking distance to down town, and the street is very quiet. The amenities are great, and it just a peaceful place to stay. This is the second time staying there, and the owner is responsive and really great to work with. I look forward to staying there again.

The cottage is far back in the backyard of the main house. You don't even realize there is another home on the property except that you need to walk past it on the way in. Bed was comfy and the patio was nice. The kitchen had everything we needed. There is some poison oak sprouting up here and there in the yard/hedges so make sure to stay clear of it especially if you bring a dog. It took about 5 minutes to walk to the main street. The drive to the grocery was also about 5 minutes. We enjoyed driving up the hill to the wineries.

My daughter and I loved our brief weekend stay here. We were meeting friends for a birthday weekend so spent unfortunately not enough time at this beautiful property. I wish we had more time so plan to book a return without social obligations to enjoy this wonderful little space with my daughter .

The cabin was very clean and had all sorts of amenities. The bed was comfortable. Wish they had darker curtains since the porch lights stayed on. We were not a fan of having to park on the street. Was worried someone would sideswipe our vehicle. Glad it wasn't raining since the passenger couldn't just climb back in to the car. It was quiet and peaceful. Beautiful place overall.

If you want to come to Murphys this is the place to stay. It is close walking distance to the town. We had a wedding to attend and we walked to it and home. This is not a party place, and nor should it be. Perfect for a couple's getaway. Lots of wineries and shops. The amenities were great and the price reasonable. We will stay here again.

Needed to get out of town to relax, and this was just perfect. Took my book and my puppy and spent hours in the beautiful shady lawn reading. Town was literally a street away and it was so fun to walk up and down the main drag of Murphys each day for coffee, shopping, and wine tasting. Can’t say enough nice things it was such a lovely visit and a lovely perfect house.

Adorable cottage with a great location. Although it was at the back of a residential property, the distance to the main house was far enough that we felt we had complete privacy. Perfect size for a couple’s getaway. A block from all the fun in Murphys (aka wine tasting). We did have trouble getting the Wi-Fi to work. Owner tried to fix it in a timely manner, but we were never able to connect.

This cottage was just so cute and clean. The privacy and lot were perfect for relaxing. Everything from restaurants to wine tasting is walking distance or crawling distance if you over indulge (LOL). Our weekend getaway was perfect and we absolutely enjoyed our stay in this cottage. Great for dogs, our little guy seemed to enjoy himself. Thanks to the owners for sharing this magical place.

My husband and I absolutely loved this place. It's a cute little cottage with lots of privacy. It's located a block off main street, so we were able to walk downtown and enjoy great food and wine - and then stumble back! You do have to walk several hundred feet from the street to the cottage, so unloading a vehicle could be challenging for those with mobility limitations. My husband and I didn't mind because we need the exercise. We were allowed to bring our dog and he had just as much fun as we did. Most of Murphys is dog friendly, so it worked out great. All in all a great little vacation. We would highly recommend this place and plan on returning someday!

Wonderful location just a block off the main action. Wonderful deck. Only funky thing was parking. A bit tight on the side of the road. But even at that was so nice to just leave the car parked and walk to everything.

Great location and quiet neighborhood. Its a little trek up to the house and a few stairs, i was glad i brought a wagon to carry our things which wouldn't be an issue for a young couple. Only thing i would have changed was the lighting in the bathroom, not enough at night.
