Long weekend in Wells
This was our first time in Wells and our first holiday with our husky Ava and it won't be the last. I will be booking the Lantern cottage again as everything was perfect - no complaints. Wells is an excellent location for anybody that has a dog as everywhere is geared up to accommodate.
We spent 2-3 hours a day walking on the beach, which is excellent, then back in town for lunch.
The Lantern cottage has a great location, very comfortable/clean and it was lovely to arrive to flowers/wine/cookies/dog treats.
First class service.

The house and location in relation to the harbour/town was perfect for our mixed aged family . Was surprised as quite a lot of road noise at times . Garden brilliant too . Get to beach car park early !! Gets full quickly and it’s a long walk from the other car park ( approx a mile ! )

Great location, comfortable house
Lantern Cottage provided a great base for our holiday. It was a short walk into the town centre and there was a lovely Co-Op supermarket practically next door. The house was very clean and well looked after on the whole, although we were very disappointed at the state of the kettle. It was unusable due to the level of scale and rust and although this had been mentioned previously in the guest book this had not been remedied. Apart from this, we would recommend the house to anyone who wants to explore the delights of North Norfolk.

Lantern cottage
Excellent weeks holiday over all pleased with cottage and Norfolk holidays. On the down side needs new frying pans and large stock pot as it has broken handle , also the fan in the ensuite bathroom not working. Would love to return next October but the price has double ,have booked another property in Wells next the Sea.

Family holiday in Wells
Overall we had a lovely week in Wells. The cottage was well located and well equipped with off road parking and a great, child & dog friendly garden. We requested a cot and high chair which were great. In addition there was a great range of melamine children’s crockery.
Drawbacks were as follows:
1. The place needs a really thorough clean - under beds & furniture, plus shower head in en-suite were particularly disgusting.
2. The beds and furniture in general were quite old and quite uncomfortable.
3. The blinds were thin and did not provide adequate blackout
4. There was a dog poo in the garden when we arrived.
Despite its great location, i do not think we would rush back to stay at lantern cottage.

Pleasant House with garden but not as central as hoped
We had a pleasant stay, although the property was not as close to the sea front as we anticipated (but only a 10 min walk). The house was clean, but the sitting room too small if you had 4 adults and 2 children. The garden was a good size and appreciated by the dog (and if one had children). The kitchen lacked enough glasses and plates - especially if you had a full house of 4 adults and 2 children and had visitors. A decent house, but we wold choose an alternative property next time if we came back to the area.

Items that need addressing
There were various lights not working when we arrived. Why were these not addressed before we arrived.ie.2 lights in the kitchen,1 in the en suite and the lamp in the lounge next to the tv.My sister banged her leg badly on the bed in bedroom no.2,which has been highlighted in the past. The freezer needed de frosting.

Hot and sunny stay
Second visit to this very pleasant house during the recent heatwave and it did not disappoint - in very good condition and almost every need catered for within the property. It is excellent accommodation for larger groups and a good sized enclosed garden which is ideal for children.
Local supermarket within a two minute walk, plus the very recent welcome addition of a petrol station next to that makes the location of Lantern even better than before.
Would certainly recommend.

Lovely stay in Wells
We weren’t expecting the cottage to be right next to the road but, as it was extremely enclosed, this did not really hamper our spending most of our time in the sunny garden as the weather was glorious. The cottage is very well provided and has everything you will need, location good for a pleasant stroll into Wells and the Coop very handy as nearby.

Great Location Cleanliness could be better
Modern spacious house, with plenty of space for parking. Just on the edge of Wells so very convenient for the town and can easily walk to the pubs and restaurants. Also convenient for exploring the North Norfolk coast. Pleasant garden with a very nice table and chairs for outside dining although being on a corner near a junction does mean there is traffic noise during the day. At night there is very little traffic so sleeping is not a problem. Decorated and furnished nicely with the exception of the conservatory which in my opinion needs updated furniture. Kitchen has a large dining table which is suitable for eight people plus high chair.
Unfortunately we found the dishwasher was not working satisfactorily which we noticed from the guest book had been reported on previous occasions. The cot we found had a “furry” cover on the top and underneath it was a very marked cot sheet which was very unhygienic. The particulars for the property say all bed linen is provided so we never thought of bringing our own cot sheet. Otherwise the bed linen and towels were satisfactory. Found an empty coke bottle under the bed and part of a loaf of bread in the bread bin plus a foot scraper in one of the bedrooms! Ovens were dirty as well as the floors in the kitchen, hall and bathrooms. Carpets at the edges were very dusty. Freezer needed defrosting. Rather than just leave negative feedback we reported these issues to the agent Norfolk Hideaways so that they had the opportunity of rectifying matters. Pleased to say they took our concerns seriously and arranged for cleaning to be undertaken. We were advised that the cleaner was “mortified”by what we said and asked for us to be absent from the property while the clean was undertaken! Really don’t think that Norfolk Hideaways should have drawn us into the discussions they had with the cleaner and entirely unnecessary.
Overall a pleasant enough stay but if more attention had been paid to the cleanliness of the property it could have been so much better.

Good location, ideal property for families
A very attractive modern house with good facilities and an enclosed garden suitable for small children. Parking available for 3 cars. It is situated about 10 minutes walk from the town centre and 5 minutes from the little steam train that runs to Walsingham.
The only slight niggle was the dishwasher which was faulty but we just washed up by hand. Other than that everything in the house was very well maintained and very clean and comfortable.

Great stay in Wells
We had a lovely time staying in Wells, Lantern cottage was in a great location and all the family enjoyed our stay there. The property is very well kept and little touches like leaving us homemade biscuits supplying toilet rolls, dish washer tablets together with tea coffee and sugar etc was an unexpected extra. Our only gripe was the dishwasher didn't clean the crockery properly!

Half term holiday with the grandchildren
Lantern Cottage was smaller than we expected, given it's a cottage for 8. However, as it was only two adults and two small children it wasn't a problem. Property is not suitable for 8. Location was close to two main roads which we were not expecting and is something we try to avoid when we have our grandchildren with us. There was a problem with drainage in all the sinks, the kitchen sink was leaking but as it was a slow leak we only noticed it the evening before we were leaving. The owners have said they bought the cottage in 2016 and that it is still a work in progress, I'm sure they will get it right. Front of house is not enclosed and this is where you are asked to take your dogs to do a number 1. Would we stay again ? Probably not due to the position near two main roads and the lack of enclosed area at the front of the house. Would I recommend to others ? The no is based on location and no gate at front of house, If this does not bother you, this house may be for you.

Comfy Cottage
The cottage was lovely and warm on a cold February weekend. Good location for pubs and beach etc. Nice big garden for our puppy to run around in. The only thing I would say is was it needs a deep clean. The bookcase and windowsills were very dusty and the floors in the hallway and kitchen needed washing. We moved an umbrella stand and there was mud behind it. The kitchen floor was sticky near the cooker and we found the cooker quite grimy. Nonetheless, we had a great weekend celebrating a family birthday.

Long weekend
We had a lovely weekend with our dog. Fab location with everything in a short drive. Bed was super comfy too. Only negative was that we chose the property because the garden was fully enclosed for our dog. Once we got there we found we couldn’t let him go in the garden as it had been requested that no dog urinate on the grass so we had to take him out the front on the lead every time he wanted to go out. Not much fun for him or us :(

A brilliant short break to celebrate a birthday
The cottage was lovely and really enjoyed our stay in Wells next the sea. It was clean comfy
And it was equipped with everything you need.
If there was 1 thing I could say was we couldn't all sit in the room as not enough seats.

Great place to stay
Lovely clean cottage thoroughly enjoyed our stay a pint of milk and a home cooked sponge was there to greet us. Very well appointed with a handy store nearby.
The only slight niggle was there was nowhere to hang clothes if you wanted to rinse something i.e. Swimming costume etc and although there is a washer dryer not everything can be tumble dried!

Wonderful holiday for family of 5 plus grandparents. Lovely property, great home from home. Garden ideal for young children. If anything over stocked with pots, pans and utensils so hard to select what you needed. Somewhat disconcerting to be told by the cleaners we should vacate the property for 5 hours from 10:00am for a mid stay clean(Although having vacated we were told by owners this was not necessary). However this will not stop us from returning next summer.

Perfect holiday cottage
Beautiful cottage, loved the garden ,very private, the cake and flowers were very welcoming . Close to the co-op and about 10 minute walk to the harbour ,ample parking .will definitely be returning in the future.

The property was very nice and in one of our favourite holiday destinations. We enjoyed our short break, however at £300 a night I think the property could do with a deep clean (under the beds was grim - young children tend to throw toys under these places!), the bedroom blinds didn't block enough light out on bright summer mornings and the dishwasher wasn't working properly so this was slightly disappointing considering the price! However Wells is a beautiful location and we had an enjoyable time!

We really enjoyed our stay,. The garden was especially good for the toddlers as it was safe and child -friendly. The cottage was lovely - very clean and rooms were spacious with not too many ornaments to remove from "little hands". It was very close to all the shops/quay etc. but was a little noisy at times as it's on a busy road - however, this did not impact on our enjoyment! The conservatory is a good space but we didn't use it as the chairs are just not comfy.........a little sofa would be great and then the space would allow large families( it sleeps 8) to really have their own comfortable space. Thank you.
