Amazing, super chill place to hang out and experience a quite retreat in portugal. The host is amazing and goes out of her way to supply everything. You really dont have to leave the property if you do not want to. She arranged a boat tour, wine tasting, and private chef for us!!

We came together as a family of 5 adults plus partners for 1 week to celebrate a 60th birthday. Plenty of space for all both inside and out (balcony, pool area, fire pit). The host, Alexandra, was really helpful and organised extras for us - a wine tasting & chef‘s 7-course dinner (& cake!) at the house plus a boat trip with picnic. The view from the property is just beautiful. There are plenty of good restaurants & food shops within less than 30 minutes drive.

5 college girlfriends from California and Washington State celebrating our milestone birthdays stayed her for 4 nights. It was fabulous. It can be tricky to find but that's because we don't speak the language. The owners are the best. Met us at the house, showed us around and booked a private chef and a Douro boat tour which they suggested and we loved. Having the wine available at our fingertips was such an added bonus and the prices were beyond reasonable. Bedrooms and bathrooms were all a nice size. The view day and night was spectacular. We would definitely stay here again! Obrigada!

Cannot begin to explain how phenomenal our stay was at this beautiful property. We were greeted in person by our host who welcomed us like family, she arranged a private chef for dinner upon our arrival which was the best meal we had in all of Portugal. Also arranged a private wine tasting at the house which was so personal and memorable. Our two nights here will not soon be forgotten and we will absolutely be back again. You will not regret booking this location, it was truly the best stay we’ve experienced.

Casa do rio was a beautiful property. We loved it . The location was close to some stores and the property itself was well maintained . We loved the pool !! We would definitely stay here again .

Lovely house in great position

When we reached the property we knew we were in for a treat. The property is so comfortable. Our family had a perfect stay, we swam, played football, hung with the sheep, played pool ok the pool table and so much more. Alex was so helpful at check in and throughout our stay. She arranged a river boat trip for us that was absolutely heaven. We hope to return some day!

We were two couples traveling the Douro River to experience the food and wine of northern Portugal. We stayed two weeks at the house and used it as our base. We thoroughly enjoyed the house. Porto is about an hour drive and other major port houses along the Douro to the east are about an hour away, also. The house is in Vinho Verde region and there are a few wineries about 30 minutes away offering great wines. And then there is the fabulous, large, low-priced wine selection at the house. The access roads to the house from town are narrow and can be tricky to navigate and it was a 15-20 minute drive to the nearest town but overall we found the location to be central to everything we wanted to do, even if not as convenient as we hoped. After all, it is rural Portugal. The house has fabulous views of the river from the deck and is a great place to relax. We enjoyed lounging by the pool, but it is unheated and the weather was cool so we did not get to use it as much as we hoped . Alexandra, our host, was very responsive and excellent to work with. She arrange a private chef to cook for us one night. She also arranged for a hot catered meal to be delivered to us another night and also arranged a wonderful boat cruise with a picnic lunch on an island in the Douro River. I can't say enough good things about our two weeks and everything Alexandra did for us. I highly recommend a stay at this wonderful house.

Our host, Alex Martins, at Casa Do Rio was not only highly accessible, she accommodated every one of our requests. She also greeted us on arrival, with her beautiful family. There was fresh traditional breads delivered every morning. The place is immaculate, the accommodations are first class, and the grounds well kept. We loved how available Alex was throughout our stay. we could send her a message at any time with a question or request. We took advantage of ordering meals in a couple of times. This service was excellent and handled by Alex. The food was delicious and came in quite large portions. Alex also helped us with arranging a boat excursion. The three hour Douro River was certainly a must while staying at the villa. The boat will meet you at the dock just below the property. We enjoyed the sports and games that were available. We played bocce, swam in the pool, and had a competitive game of billiards each evening. From the villa there are numerous hikes that you can take. One very memorable one was one that took us up river on a public, well marked trail for a couple of miles. We were up high so new views of the river kept opening up as we walked. The view across the river was mesmerizing. There is an ancient abandoned winery that has numerous buildings on a terraced slope. Overall, we couldn’t have been more pleased with Casa Do Rio, including the quality of staff that help to deliver a memorable experience.

We LOVED our stay at Casa Do Rio! The Case itself is outstanding, the rooms are ample, the accommodations were above expectations and the grounds are beautiful. Alexandra was a perfect host. We were able to book a private river tour with short notice. The recommendations for restaurants were outstanding. We would give this 10 stars if we could.

We hebben een heerlijke week gehad met de hele familie (7 volwassenen) in Casa do Rio. In het riante huis met 4 slaapkamers en 4 badkamers was er veel ruimte ruimte voor iedereen, ook in de woonkamer. We hebben vooral genoten van het terras en de tuin waar we met een prachtig uitzicht konden borrelen en eten. Bij mooi weer hebben we veel rondom en in het zwembad gezeten en bij minder mooi weer bood het biljart uitkomt. De omgeving is prachtig en vele uitstapjes waard. Onze gastvrouw was goed bereikbaar voor vragen, adviezen en het regelen van activiteiten. Kortom we hebben een top week gehad!

Caso do Rio is a fantastic place for a family holiday. We spent 10 days here with our 2 children (ages 9 and 12yrs). It can comfortably sleep more if booked for a larger group (NB. Only 2 bedrooms will be made available if booked for group of 4 people). The facilities are brilliant - beautiful swimming pool, great football pitch, billiard table etc., which kept everyone busy and happy. The view is simply stunning, and much missed now that our holiday is over! Alexandra was the perfect host - very attentive and responsive, and keen to make our holiday as good as it could be. We would definitely love to return.

We had a lovely four-night stay at Casa do Rio to cap off our 2019 summer vacation. We are a family of five with three young boys and the house was absolutely perfect for us. The boys LOVED the soccer field, pool, playhouse and most of all feeding the farm animals every morning! Jumping in the Douro just down the hill was another fun bonus. Bread delivery in the morning was a dream. Catered dinner from the local restaurant was also fantastic. Alexandra was there to meet us at check-in and very communicative for the duration of our stay, helping us book a boat cruise on the river and a picnic and tasting at a fantastic winery. If we are fortunate enough to return someday, there is plenty of room to bring another family along. Thank you for everything, Alexandra! Hope to see you again someday!

Ideaal huis met 2 gezinnen, terras, eettafel buiten, voetbalveld en groot zwembad! Heerlijke airco op slaapkamers en beneden. Genoeg handdoeken en badlakens en voorraad lokale wijn ligt klaar te gebruiken tegen kleine vergoeding. Pooltafel in woonkamer heerlijk om soms de warmte buiten te ontvluchten. Enig aandachtspuntje zou zijn.... kussen voor op de ligbedjes bij het zwembad en iets volledigere inrichting van de keuken. Bovenal een top plek met rust en een schitterend uitzicht over de Douro!!

Nous avons passé un bon séjour entre amis, la villa est au calme et bénéficie d'une vue magnifique sur le Douro. 2 grandes chambres et 2 plus petites, une belle piscine et un terrain de foot. Nous avons profité de la livraison des petits pains, par contre il n'y a pas de sèche-linge comme indiqué mais juste la machine à laver. Le billard est un plus nous avons fait de belles parties. Margarida la femme de ménage est très gentille, et Alexandra est très sympathique et réactive, avant pendant et après le séjour. Les normands et Picards

We had a fantastic holiday (a group of 8) at this lovely Douro property. Alexandra could not have been more helpful; a organizing daily bread delivery, a private boat trip and even a home delivered restaurant meal. The house was very comfortable, and the pool table was big hit. As well as the outdoor pool, which was great, the delights of river Douro were just a short walk away.

Cuisine très bien équipée , possibilité de se faire livrer du pain , changement des serviettes de toilette à mi séjour ,climatisation dans toutes les chambres .La location est à environ 1h de Porto .

Skønt skønt hus med dejlig pool, fodboldbane og fantastisk terrasse med udsigt over duoroen. Huset kan varmt anbefales! Eneste "minus" (men det er man klar over inden man lejer huset) er at man skal køre for ALT - ca 25 min for ordentlige indkøbsmuligheder.

Une villa superbe à tous points de vue dans un lieu exceptionnel ! une étape 5 adultes + 3 ados sur la route de nos vacances qui n'a duré que 3 jours et 2 nuits, mais qui nous laisse un souvenir inoubliable de détente, de qualité et de beauté des lieux et du paysage ! ( chambres de qualité, lieux de vie spacieux et agréables, tout bien équipés tel qu'il est noté dans l'avis d'un internaute d'août- je ne vais pas refaire le texte ! tout est ainsi qu'il est dit! ...) Nous sommes proches ici d'un certain luxe qui n'a rien à envier à nombre d'hotel 4 étoiles! et voir +... Notre seul regret : être obligés de quitter cet endroit pour poursuivre notre route!!! Trop court séjour ! mérite une halte plus longue ! La région a découvrir est superbe..., et le gîte est si reposant et agréable à vivre !! Pour profiter des 2 nous reviendrons au moins 4 ou 5 nuits... Les propriétaires Alexandra et Artur sont accueillants, agréables et simples, prêts à donner x conseils et répondre aux questions et demandes pour améliorer notre séjour. Agnès

Nous avons passé une semaine formidable en famille à la Casa Do Rio début août 2014 ! La maison est très grande, les chambres sont toutes très spacieuses, chacune avec une jolie vue sur la rivière, une grande salle de bain et très propres. Elles sont toutes équipées d'un climatiseur réversible au cas où la température viendrait à monter ou à trop baisser. Le coin salon est immense, avec billard, grande table à manger,et canapés confortables, Bref on a de l'espace, et ça c'est appréciable lorsque l'on vit en ville à Paris ! La vue sur la rivière est exceptionnelle ! La maison est orienté plein ouest, ce qui permet d'avoir les terrasses à l'ombre le matin, de profiter du soleil l'après midi, et de diner face au coucher de soleil le soir. Le jardin lui reste en permanence ensoleillé. Le jardin est découpé en plusieurs parcelles, comme des jardins suspendu, ce qui rend le lieu très esthétique. La piscine est longue et belle ! Nous avons apprécié la grande partie pataugeoire d'au moins 2m pour les enfants. Elle est très propre et l'eau était à bonne température. En plus de la piscine, il y a une parcelle avec un terrain de foot, et une parcelle avec une terrasse en bois, un coin barbecue et table à manger pour des repas avec vue sur le Douro. En ce qui concerne les repas, tous les petits déjeuners sont préparés le matin pour 9h00, comme nous avons des enfants qui se levaient tôt, nous avons demandé à ce que le petit déjeuné soit avancé à 8h30, ce qui n'a pas posé de problème. Ce petit déjeuné était tout à fait satisfaisant avec pain, céréales, gâteau, café.... Il y a 2 petits supermarchés à 5 min en voiture, et 1 intermarché à 15 min à Marco de Cavaneses. Vous pouvez également vous faire livrer des repas en passant par les propriétaires.Notre conseil,n'hésitez pas : pour 15€/pers pour avez un repas très copieux et vraiment délicieux. Au point que nous avons fait appel 3 fois à ce service. La cuisine est grande et très bien équipée (grand frigo-congélateur,four, micro-onde, lave vaisselle et lave linge). Pour la partie touristique, il y a en minimum 45 min de voiture pour aller voir les différents points d'intérêts. C'est la contrepartie pour avoir une maison dans un endroit aussi calme. Enfin, les propriétaires, Alexandra et Artur sont très sympathiques et n'hésitent pas à donner plein de conseils.

Um local de cortar a respiração! Um daqueles casos em que as fotografias ilustram, mas não chegam a captar a essência do espaço. Com o Rio Douro como pano de fundo, em conjunto com os recantos que este espaço nos oferece proporcionou-nos tudo o que estávamos à espera. O acolhimento foi fantástico, a limpeza irrepreensível, o espaço está muitíssimo bem cuidado. Além disso, os detalhes da decoração são deliciosos. Adoramos! Já recomendamos o local a outras pessoas e julgo que isso diz tudo! Um daqueles locais a revisitar, sem sombra para dúvida, mais que uma vez (por ano). Aos proprietários, o nosso obrigado pela simpatia e atenção. Até breve! ;)

A Casa do Rio oferece não só um lugar para dormir mas também uma variedade de serviços e actividades que juntos resultam numa experiência a repetir. A localização, a paisagem e as condições oferecidas pela quinta são os pontos fortes.

Fim-de-semana em família, tendo-se ocupado os 4 quartos da casa. A casa é muito bonita e confortável, notando-se preocupação nos pequenos detalhes, que lhe dão um toque de classe e distinção. A piscina e o mini campo de futebol fizeram as delícias dos pequenotes, e o bilhar e os jogos a dos adultos. Fomos recebidos com disponibilidade e simpatia. O serviço de catering é muito útil e equilibrado (preço/qualidade). Está situada num local com uma paisagem lindíssima e sossegada. Recomendo!
