The GETTY HOUSE first level features a vaulted ceiling living and dining area with open-plan space, skylit ceilings, encompassing a brand new designer Bosch kitchen, appliances, lounge and entertainment media center areas, extra bed and an outdoor zen porch area. This second level master bedroom, California king custom-made bed, ensuite bathroom, walk-in tiled shower, and a private deck with Sauna, where you can enjoy the Santa Monica sea breezes. Also, there is highly desirable gated parking for your mid-size or smaller vehicle with private access inside the safe compound grounds. And ideally all of this is located just six walking-blocks from the beach.

ARCHITECTURAL STYLE:
The home was designed by Chu+Gooding Architects, known for their work on the Getty Museum. It features exclusive design elements throughout, highlighted by superb finishes and glamorous detailing in each room. Elegant art and design, sheep skin rugs, polished concrete floor and modern dim-able inset and track lighting create the perfect environment for your stay.

The open-plan living room features a sunken dining area, comfy couches, complete media center and gas fireplace. The floor-to-ceiling sliding glass wall / doors infuse the house with natural light and open out to the tranquil zen-like bamboo couch area with fire pit creating a seamless marriage of indoor/outdoor living.

KITCHEN:
Enjoy the new designer Bosch fully-equipped kitchen with dishwasher and all new appliances; providing one the luxuries of a chef’s kitchen (blender, toaster, extra virgin olive oils and spices to boot.) Everything you need to cook up a storm and serve your guests in style.

MASTER BEDROOM:
The master bedroom upstairs opens to a spacious roof top deck where you can enjoy the ocean breeze and hilltop view. Retreat to your luxurious sexy master suite overlooking Santa Monica and beyond with an enormous in suite his and hers bathroom.

The Getty house is a beautiful property! Robert met us upon arrival and personally acquainted us with the property. Our two teens slept fairly comfortably in cots provided. Even though it is one bedroom, it is very spacious. It has several lovely outdoor spaces to enjoy. Lots of open windows to enjoy the ocean breeze. The location was fantastic! It is in walking distance to so many restaurants, stores and the beautiful beach. I do not believe we could have found a better property. I will definitely plan on booking this property again in the future.

The property is beautifully designed but with a couple of flaws. The major flaw is that there is one bathroom, and it is upstairs, so that any guest who needs to use the bathroom has to see your unmade bed etc. A second design flaw is that there are no handles on anything. The fridge has no handle. You have to inseert your fingernails of both hands between the doors to open the fridge. Most closet doors and drawers you have to kick or push hard in order to open, due to lack of simple handles. This is obviously due to some kind of design ideology which should have been ignored. The place is also not a simple stroll to the beach: We were lucky we had friends two blocks from the beach, where we could park our car. On the plus side the place is very light and airy, and one can look at the mountains from the upstairs balcony. I think for a short stay it is lovely.........

Interior design is extraordinary — elevating in itself. Robert is extremely responsive host. Quiet location on lively residential street but within 10 minutes walk of vibrant near-beach restaurants and shopping areas.

I loved my stay in this gorgeous house! Spacious, sunlit, peaceful, private and comfortable. The kitchen was well-equipped, and it was a pleasure to lounge on the comfy couch with the fireplace on during the cool winter evenings. Communication and check in were smooth and easy, and Robert welcomed me with a tour of the house, some wonderful suggestions for places eat and visit in the area, and had even bought some fruit and snacks for me to have on hand. The location is unbeatable, a few blocks from Whole Foods, the beach, and many hot spots in Santa Monica/Venice. I look forward to staying again another time!

We received a warm welcome by owner who explained everything. Home has terrific architecture with high ceilings, large windows and doors opening to Lovely garden and patio. A very nice way to enjoy Santa Monica and Venice.

We have stayed in many condos, hotels and houses in the Santa Monica area, for work and for holidays, and this is one of our favorites. The design of the home is stunning, and the home has great amenities. But unlike many architecturally significant homes, we found it to be comfortable and kid-friendly. The location was great, on a quiet street but close to beach, Main Street and PCH/Hwy 10. The fenced in off street parking stall was great piece of mind. Robert made everything easy, and was accessible if we had questions and truly wanted our stay to be great. Thanks for everything Robert. We'll be back.

a| This house is absolutely gorgeous. I was torn at times between going to the beach (which is literally 6 blocks away), heading to the shops+cafe which are 5 blocks away and lounging at the house. It's the perfect combination of contemporary zen+cozy. Very tasteful and elegant. b| The location is fantastic. Grocery stores, shops, boutiques, restaurants are within 5 blocks. b| I appreciated the precision in detail - custom made kitchen table, extra outlets for chargers, netflix ready to go, HBO films, beautiful landscaping and an extraordinary library of books to flip through. c| Robert was very thorough with us and very kind about working with us to meet our needs and even reminded on Monday morning about street cleaning and where to move the cars. d| Parking is included. There's a spot for two cars to park next to the house behind a private gate. e| The home is private and surrounded by beautiful bamboo. There's a lovely outdoor space where one is able to practice yoga, exercise or meditate in seclusion f| Finally, the master bedroom is stunning and open. There's a custom made bed and the large windows allow for sunlight to stream through in the morning.

God, I wish we lived in Southern California. Our stay at the Getty designer house in Santa Monica was amazing and we can't wait to come back. The beach, the yoga, and the farmer's market are all in within walking distance of the house... didn't realized we were staying in such a great neighborhood! Great X'mas shopping and restaurants on Abbott Kinney in Venice. And a fantastic $ 50 massage, just walking distance from the house. At night we dined at the Venice Ale House and watched the sunset. When we got back John and I really enjoyed the fireplace, sipping wine and watching movies on the flat sceen. The upstairs / downstairs house design was perfect for the two of us. We even used the office and wifi throughout the house. The manager, Robert, was very helpful. He told us about so many different and interesting places to visit. Only wish we were able to stay another week!

Our recent stay at this property was our worst experience so far in our experience of vacation rentals. First, there are some positives: The house is centrally located and in a safe neighborhood; Whole Foods, the Santa Monica Pier, Montana Avenue, other attractions and major freeways are minutes away by car. There is on-site parking. The actual structure that is the house and its landscaping are very nice. Now the many negatives: The photos do not show any of the stained, ripped or broken furniture that greeted us on our arrival. After being told by the agent Robert that the bed we would be sleeping on was brand new (we hadn't asked, he just offered this information), we removed the sheets for a washing and discovered a filthy mattress. Personal items belonging to the house's owner such as toiletries, food, magazines, etc. littered the counters, shelves, drawers and cabinets in such abundance that we felt like we were trespassing. It was the sort of disarray that might be okay if staying with a friend or relative for free but not if you're paying for accommodations. The house advertises as a two bedroom. Instead, a bed has been placed in the living room across from the couch. As I told the agent Robert in an email sent after we returned home: Just as I'm sure owners hope that renters won't mistreat their homes, we would hope that our comfort, peace of mind and health are being looked after, too - if for no other reason than that it is the right thing to do. The best places that we have stayed, the places that we would happily return to and refer to others, are places where the owners have done just that. We would never recommend this house to anyone.

This beautifully designed modern home is conveniently located six blocks from the Main Street retail district, beach, and Santa Monica farmers' market. Convenient access to the Santa Monica Promenade and the 10. The house is sited on the lot to provide front and side yards, with windows carefully placed to provide daylight and sightlines of the sky and bamboo around the perimeter of the property. The living room and attached side yards provide a wonderful space to relax in or entertain guests. Wonderful architectural details throughout the house. The house was very clean and well maintained. Robert (the property manager) was very helpful in showing the home, handling the deposit and payment, and delivering the keys. We enjoyed preparing meals in the kitchen, but note that there's no microwave or coffee maker. Highly recommended!
