About this house rental
Rio Casita (Little River House) is located in the middle of a beautifully wooded acre of land on the pristine Blanco River. The clear, cool, spring fed river is ideal for kicking back, relaxing, and enjoying nature. Drive the short three miles along River Road that flanks the Blanco into Wimberley, and take a shopping spree through some of the most unique shops you will see anywhere.
This is a very romantic spot with plenty of privacy. The kids and pets will love it also. Walk down the easy sloping hill from your back porch and directly into the river. Great swimming and wading and a superior place to enjoy an ice cold adult beverage. It's all here, come and see!
After fun in the sun and the river, head back to the house to enjoy all the ammenities: outdoor grill, great backporch for hanging out, gourmet kitchen - everything you need, except the food. When the sun sets the fire flys appear.

This is our second time back to Rio Casita and it was another great stay! We love the location and the house is just perfect.

If you need to escape from city noise and city lights, Rio Casita is all you need. The wonderful views and the sound of Blanco river close to the house will make you forget your city stress. Surrounded by lots of nature. My girls really enjoyed the stay. We were able to see fawn, foxes, coyotes, hummingbirds, and cardinals. Rio Casita makes you feel right at home. Very easy to communicate with Connie the host. She is really helpful and very nice. Will definitely come back sooner than later.

Our family really enjoyed our time at this home! Our dogs may have loved it more! We have a yard at home, but there was something about this house that made my dad and one of our dogs want to stay outside the entire time! The water was mostly mud behind the house, but if you walk through it a bit, there's shallow water. There are also TONS of swimming holes near the house. This is not the owner's fault, just a heads up.

What a beautiful spot. Our dogs loved the property and it made for such a beautiful stay. We will be back to enjoy. The owners are incredible, my husband left a bad and they shipped it to us the next day.

We stayed here on a trip in 2020 and came back last week. The property is described well and comes with everything on the list. Great for pets since the backyard is fenced, but you can go through the gate and get to the river quickly.
We had an issue with the refrigerator, but the owner responded quickly and brought another fridge the next day. Very nice people own this place, and we would definitely stay again.

It was a great stay.

We had a great stay. The house was comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. The road to get there was longer than we thought but still close enough to easily get to town. The river was very low.

Great place to stay, if you want an open floor plan, three bedrooms, comfortable king master bed, cold A/C, convenience to Wimberley, Gruene, San Marcos, etc. I would not necessarily stay there if you want to be on the river...though, it is technically on the river. I walked down to the water a couple of times, but stepped into mush...silt, stink... I don't frequent this area, so I don't know if this is normal. Water maybe came up to my ankles? My 13-year old daughter wanted to go out to the middle of the river and sit on the rocks, an that was okay. You can't really see the water from the house/porch. There was no full-length mirror, which I think would be a problem, for a girl's trip. No blowdryer, which I didn't know until after I got there - perhaps if I had read other's reviews before going, I would have known that. There were knives, but none that could really cut anything... Bring a sharpener or your own knives if you want to chop or slice anything. Lots of dead branches everywhere, that if removed, would have really spiffed up the place. My husband and I sat on the porch once night, while we cooked chicken over charcoal and I had to use the provided broom to dust off spider webs, etc. from the chairs that we sat in. Overall, I am happy with my stay, but I just wanted to mention those few things because they were important to me.... maybe not to someone else.

This is our third time staying in this cozy house. It is so peaceful, and we love the wildlife. We saw deer, fawn, a peacock and a turkey! So many fireflies at night! Unfortunately, the river is very low, but it is still nice to walk around in it. It is very close to Wimberley Square for shopping and dining. If you are looking for a nice quiet getaway, this is the place for you!

We needed some time away from big city life and had a wonderful visit in Wimberley. We slept so great, loved the property and enjoyed just being together. We will be back!

Our family spent the weekend here with our two dogs. The kids and the dogs loved playing in the river and chasing fireflies. The adults loved sitting on the porch enjoying a cup of coffee. The beds were super comfortable. The kitchen was a dream. We will be back!

Very enjoyable. Quiet atmosphere to sit on back porch and read, think and visit with friends. Short distances to great eating establishments. Thoroughly enjoyed the glass blowing factory and did some Christmas shopping.

This was our secret time to stay at this lovely cottage out from Wimberly, Tx and right on the Blanco river for Christmas.
We stayed here in December of 2020 and there was no blow dryer. I bought one locally and left it there as a donation. I surmised that the omission was due to the Covid restrictions.
Well, once again there was no blow dryer at the home. I was proactive this time and brought my own. As far as toiletries, there were only small, wrapped bars of soap supplied. Again, I was prepared with my own shampoo & conditioner.
Coffee supplies were good, which was appreciated. I made a full Christmas meal and while cookware was abundant, some items could be better. The salad had to served in a large, old green plastic container. The drawer with kitchen tools was scant. More cooking implements, such as a cup measuring upright cup, better can opener, more serving dishes & spoons would enhance this property, given the rental price.

I stayed at Rio Casita a long time ago and it was magical. I needed a relaxing weekend and decided to come back. This is a great place to just sit outside and read a book and enjoy the view. The house is inviting and comfortable. I will be back!!!

I would live on that back porch if I could. We love the house and keep coming back. It’s exactly what we need when we can get away from work and escape the every day grind. Thanks for sharing this peaceful place with us.

Lovely stay at this property (not my first time) with 5 of my dearest friends. The location, scenery, house and amenities all make for a relaxing stay. We loved every minute of it!

The property is very pretty. Inside and out. Nicely decorated and a view of the river. Comfortable porch furniture, which we used a lot!
Coffee provided which I enjoyed.
A good bed, plenty of dishes, pots and pans to cook with.
A restful and enjoyable stay:)

The house was clean, comfortable and in a quiet area just a short drive to shops, restaurants, etc… The large yard is fenced which is great for our dogs but is in need of maintenance. The yard has little grass, lots of leaves and dirt and makes keeping the floor clean almost impossible.

My husband and I enjoyed a very relaxed weekend here with our daughter and son-in-law. The home is comfortably furnished and the the a/c worked great (important on hot August days). The king bedroom is near back of the home and the other 2 bedrooms are near the front of the home. This layout gives each area a sense of privacy. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to friends and family.

We so enjoyed being so close to the river. The host provided so many amenities. Perfect home to stay in with a cute holl country vibe. Perfectly renovated. Loved the clawfoot tib and multiple seating areas to take in the breath-taking Hill Country views.

Last get away before our 8th grader starts back to school. We have rented this house before and it never fails to deliver. Perfect for family to relax. Brought our pup who loves the river. Ate banana pudding and sat in the shade in the river. House has everything in the kitchen you could want. Made margaritas and played cards!

We appreciated the property and the area for our dogs. Too bad the water was low, but as weather has it, we had a nice trip !

We had a wonderful stay. The house was clean and comfortable. It had plenty of room for my family to hang out during the hot days and direct access to the river in the evening for our kids to play in. We would definitely be back to stay.

Of course owner has no control but the river was only ankle deep so couldn't swim or fish. The house was clean as always and entire atmosphere is very relaxing. Only saw one deer and one hummingbird which at other times there are many, could have been the heat. However, a treat this time we saw wild turkeys in the back yard one morning. We plan to come back for vacay of course!

Very clean, tastefully decorated home, with all of the essentials for every day living. Felt like home. Enjoyed the river access, as it was just the right level for five year old grandson to wade in.

We have been staying at this property for many many years now a couple of times a year. It makes us secure in knowing there is a fenced in back and front yard for the safety of dogs to roam. The owner is very kind in helping me when I have trouble reaching the property management.
We love the cleanliness and the comfort and the fireplace!!! Highly recommend

We have stayed here many times over the years. The house is very clean, well equipped kitchen, nice comfy beds and a great fenced backyard. A short walk down the hill to the water which is usually about a foot deep. Love it 💜

The house was fantastic! Very clean and description correct! Right on the river! Back porch was wonderful to drink coffee and playing games in the evening
Would stay again!

Great property! Quiet, clean, comfortable beds, fantastic back porch. Kitchen has everything you need. Varied & multiple areas to sit & talk, play games, read, work if you have to. Perfect for dogs or children, easier access into the water than most areas along the river. The water is shallow, so you can sit & enjoy. If you only want to float or swim, it might not be the house for you. Even though a cold front dropped temperatures & it rained 2 out of our 4 days, we still enjoyed our stay very much! Thank you Connie for working with us!
