Great hotel

Comfortable accommodation with none of the usual hotel amenities

Room was spacious, clean and comfortable.

The premises appeared to be half-finished or still a work-in-progress. I expected some basic food and beverages to be available at the Hotel, but this was not the case. We were a bit surprised that we couldn’t procure a beer! There was a small annex where there was a self-catering kitchen and a couple of sofas for people to relax on. Overall, it felt like we were staying in some type of conference center, rather than a hotel. The location is also a lot more isolated than I realized. If you don’t have a car, be prepared to walk a lot as the bus service is scarce and unreliable.

For one night, the hotel is good, but I don't know how it will be like for long stays.

Cleanliness: room and bathroom were clean. Hand soap was available, however, there were no other amenities like bath soap. This is not a problem, but it is important to be prepared when staying there. Quietness: we had no problem with noise. The room was really silent and we could sleep well. Bed: the beds were comfortable. However, for those who like a firm mattress, its softness can be a problem.

Location: the hotel is not far from Bad Harzberg station, but there are not many buses to reach it, especially on weekends. For example, on Saturday the bus leaves every 1 hour. Availability of staff: during long journeys, like our case that we were coming from another state by train, delays and unforeseen events can occur. Having a quick way to contact the hotel in such cases is very important. So, my biggest complaint would be about that, because when we realized that we would not reach the Hotel before 7pm we tried to contact them by phone for more than 30 min, without success. We also tried contact by email and through Booking.com. At 18:53 I finally got a call on my phone and we were able to explain the situation. The solution for our delay was easily provided, but the stress until we got an answer was high.

Perfect value-for-money due to friendly personnel and very satisfactory accomodation

The hotel owners were very helpful in providing a power socket to charge our electric car, since we arrived with just 2 km of range left due to poor planning on our part. Furthermore, very satisfactory non-nonsense accommodation if you just need a comfortable place to stay overnight.

If you prefer a sturdy mattress, you might find them a bit soft
