This place is adorable and clean. Peaceful, and the views are breathtaking. Dave and his sweet pup, Enola, were friendly and delightful hosts. We will definitely be back.

Michael thinks of everything! If you’re open to cozy and a little rustic this one is a great fit!

Just came back from spending 7 days at the Alarka cabin with my wife and two grown sons. We really enjoyed it. The setting is peaceful and beautiful and within easy driving distance of both the Nantahala National Forest and the Great Smokey Mountains NP. Michael is a fabulous host - very friendly and with great recommendations for hiking and other recreational activities.

We would highly recommend staying at this cabin. The host was friendly and made our family (humans & fur-babies) feel welcome. The cabin is well-maintained and met all of our needs. It truly felt like we were in a home away from home.

We enjoyed our stay in the Alarka Community near Bryson City. Our host met us at the property and gave us good suggestions for hiking trails in the Great Smoky Mountain National park and others nearby. We were greeted by the friendly host dog too. We woke up to a chorus of birds singing and watched fireflies before falling asleep. Using my Merlin app, I recorded 30 different bird species while setting under the covered porch.

Host’s help with TV, phone, WiFi, suggestions, and his kind friendship. Facilities are rustic but peaceful.

Property was beautiful. House was small (two porches for extra space) but had everything we needed and was very organized. Clean, comfortable and had all the extras that make overnight stays go smoothly. Host was very helpful gave insights to places to fish, hike to waterfalls. Great stay, hope to come back again when we can stay longer!!!

The whole process was easy as pie. The host is by far the best I have ever dealt with with VRBO. The host is very friendly and really nice, the rental was very clean and peaceful. The host checks in on you and his dog LOVES to come and visit with you. I would and do recommend this rental all the time!!!!!

We loved our stay. It had everything we needed and was just the right amount “off the grid.” Davi and Enola were super welcoming to us and our little dog. We appreciated being able to have our furbaby. The scenes over the mountains with summer rainfalls were serene. Definitely recommend 11/10.

A fabulous getaway! Beautiful property, only minutes away from amazing hikes along cascading waterfalls. The host is wonderful and the cabin was clean and comfortable! I loved sitting out on the covered deck observing the beauty of green rolling hills, tulip poplar trees, indigo buntings, scarlet tanagers and sunsets over the smokies!

Great little place. I came to mountain bike and it was close to trails and town. Place was clean and had everything you needed. Owner was great to work with and very helpful. The dog had a great field to walk in and enjoy.

Location is great! Close wnough to the city that everything is accessible, far enough away that is nice and quiet. Closest trailhead is 6min away and beautiful. The owner is great and very open. Made it nice and easy communicating with him, and helped out when a stray wounded dog showed up.

We were meeting our grandchildren and daughter for a small spring break in the Smoky Mountains. The spot was a perfect spot to enjoy Bryce City and the Smoky Mountain National Park. We had a blast! The dogs loved the yard. My Granddaughter and I loved the two porches. Her favorite porch was off her bedroom my favorite was the entryway covered porch. The beds were comfortable and linens were amply supplied. Wifi was great. Thanks Mike we appreciated everything.

Cabin was just as described. The host cleaned the cabin after the previous guests left and allowed us to check in early. The property is pet friendly and has enough space for dogs to run. Host was very accommodating and pleasant. Will definitely be going back

This is my third time staying here. It is cozy and so quiet and peaceful, with lovely sunset views and the sounds of the creek. You also get to talk with Mike and see his sweet dog. Mike is an awesome host and just a really nice person. Highly recommend.

I stayed here with my mother and dog in October and was absolutely wonderful. Lovely little property and fully equipped. Property owner was friendly and accommodating even with our grumpy older dog. Would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed our time here. The place was cozy, warm and had all the amenities to make our stay great. The mattresses were comfortable and the bedding was perfect. I was especially happy that it was so kid and dog friendly. When I went around to make sure all dangerous cleaning products were out of harms way, they sure were. It felt great to be able to relax in a place away from home. The layout was nice with the bedrooms side by side, in the back of the cabin. The rental was well equipped. The host, Michael was kind and helpful. His dog, Ebola was a sweetheart. I highly recommend this laid back, cozy cabin to anyone visiting the area. Great experience here!

It was wonderful, I stayed with my partner and Husky dog. The housebarn had everything we could need and the location was beautiful.

My wife and I stayed for one night after thanksgiving on our way back to Birmingham and we had a great experience here. We met the owner Mike who was friendly and accessible but also gave us privacy.
The area is very special. In the morning we sat on the sturdy porch and watched the sunrise in the mountains, drinking coffee. Cell service, thankfully, is non existent, but the WiFi worked perfectly. And after a day of tromping around in the national forest and fly casting to brown trout we relaxed inside and watched a movie on Netflix.
We appreciated the rustic quality of it; it is an apartment above a barn. But it is well cared for and comfortable. We plan on returning and staying for longer as it was all in all a very peaceful place to retreat to, and we want to explore more of the mountain streams around Alarka

We came for a weekend trip and everything was just perfect for us (me, husband, 2 kids - 9 and 12, and small dog). This is our 2nd time visiting this property and,we,hope to come back again soon!!!

Cute barn cabin with awesome views and hospitality. This cabin is smaller than we are used to but clean and accommodating. Has everything you need. We brought our two dogs with us, we hate leaving them home: We came to visit the GSMR! Great location, close to all, pet friendly and would definitely stay here again! ♥️

Michael is a fab host and Enola is a sweet pooch to have around. The accommodations were as described...and the area is a fun place to stay to enjoy mountain life quiet, great scenery, with plenty of attractions/areas of interest to keep us moving exploring.

Michael, our host was amazing. The location of this place was amazing. When we arrived we just took it all in. We met Michael after we arrived and he shared his background of the property. He was such a joy to talk to. Our barn/cabin had everything needed and then some. I would recommend this place to everyone. The weather was perfect and we were able to sleep with the windows open. Our evening there we sat on the covered porch on the porch swing and just lived in the moment. So peaceful and quiet. Hopefully we can return someday.

This property is a converted barn that is really comfortable to stay in. It's in a rural area but just a 2 mile drive into town. The owners have put a lot of thought into providing anything of the little things that you might need. The internet reception is very good. Communication was great, I would definitely stay here again.

Very nice quiet area, was up in the mountains. Michael was very nice and i truely enjoyed talking with him. I loved just sitting out on the porch watching the beautiful humming birds fly. The only downfall was the full size bed i felt like i was laying at a slant. We really enjoyed our stay...

Everything was terrific. The owner invited us to pick fresh blueberries from his large bushes. It was lovely. There is so much to see and do in the area. We enjoyed ourselves throughly! We would happily goose this barb cottage once again. Thank you!

We enjoyed the area and cost effectiveness of the cabin. We were disappointed in the cleanliness and lack of maintenance. The property manager is very laid back and accommodating. The little detail accommodations were very much appreciated!

The family really enjoyed our time at Michael's place. We especially loved the sunsets, Michael's pup, hummingbirds, and playing board games on the deck. The place was extremely clean and accommodating. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
