This is a tough review to write because we love the rustic appeal of this ski home. When I say rustic that is what I mean, the house is older, but does have great space.
The Pro’s: Nice secluded location, comfortable enough beds, newer couch and chair in the living room , hot tub, secluded feel.
Con’s: The house is COLD on the main level and HOT on the upper. There are on bare minimum items for your use, like 6 forks, and be sure to bring extra toilet paper. There is essentially no snow removal plan so be ready to do that yourself and bring your own shovel, unless you want to dig your vehicle out, shovel a path to the door, shovel a path to the hot tub…etc with a small kids plastic shovel or a gardening shovel. There is a TV in the living room, but it doesn’t have a remote and if you happen to have a DVD to watch, and can figure out how to operate that feature with the buttons on the back of the TV there is a weird black line in the middle of the screen during viewing. There is a sauna, but we did not use that feature, there were dirty socks left in there and you could tell it had not been properly cleaned. There are cob webs galore in the house and no broom to wipe them off with, so thank goodness for a towel and a tall husband.
Again, I do like the cabin and the location, it’s quiet. But Vacasa in my opinion is making money off of me, when I was made to do items that should be taken care of. Even the neighbors mentioned the lack of maintenance and snow removal they have witnessed and suggested we start shoveling ourselves if we wanted to make it to our planned ski lessons. We lost hours of time as a family on our vacation taking turns shoveling, this is time we can’t get back.

I’ve been to Girdwood many times and stayed in many cabins. This cabin is exactly what you’d expect when staying in a remote ski town. It’s cozy and warm and has everything you’d need. If you’re expecting luxury, stay at the resort. If you want a cabin, this one works great.

We loved that the property had both a hot tub & sauna. Wonderful to have after 7 hours on the Mountain!

We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful classic A-frame, hidden away in the woods in a quiet and lovely part of town, right under Mount Alyeska with the view of the slopes and other mountains. (Street was also dark enough to see the aurora)
I walked to the slopes in 15mins but it’s only a 4min drive to the parking lot.
Bird singing in the morning.
Kitchen was fully setup, beds amazing, hot tub steaming, and sauna was the best bonus!
Can’t wait to stay here again ☺️

My wife and I decided to stay for a short weekend to celebrate her birthday. When we got to the cabin, it was 52°! The Toyo stove was going, but it was not keeping the cabin warm. Yes, it was below zero temperatures outside but this is ridiculous! I reached out to the host to ask if this was the only heat source, as well as how to turn on a ceiling fan to push some of the hot air down, and they would not respond. On our day of departure, the cabin finally warmed up. I also was able to figure out the ceiling fan with no help from the host. This cabin is old and in desperate need of a remodel. Dishonor and hot tub was nice, but we would not stay here again, and I don’t recommend anyone else stay as well, unless the host updates the cabin, and is more responsive to the guest needs.

We absolutely loved this home. Definitely worth it! Got to know the neighbors, very quiet neighborhood. Very cozy, welcoming, had plenty of blankets to cuddle up on the couch after a long day of hiking.

It was convenient for us and easy to get to. The beds were very comfy.

Chalet was very dirty inside and outside. Pictures were very deceiving the chalet was very outdated and needed a lot of repair. We were disgusted and left to find an alternate place to stay. However, we did contact the management and we did get a full refund.

We are questioning if we will ever take a chance to stay at a VaCasa/VRBO property in the future. This miserable experience makes us feel like we were lured here only to be taken advantage of financially for a misrepresented property that in our opinion should never have been made available for rentals/bookings until significant changes have been made to the property. It is fraudulent and we feel violated by this nightmare of an experience. The home is in grave disrepair. It was dirty. We had to vacuum the entire place. I had to wash floors, sticky dirty. No internet/TV for a week. Sauna would not shut off the entire week keeping the house HOT in July. So many things wrong with this property that they don't allow enough characters here for me to explain. Broken couch and chairs. No screens on windows or patio door to cool the home. It was a nightmare. This impacted our vacation first time to Alaska, immensely.

The location was ideal for what we needed.
The place is very dated but comfortable.
They need a few mugs and wineglasses for the kitchen .
We did not use any appliances except for the dishwasher when we left.

I'm sure the cabin is fine for winter ski trips, however, it does not meet the requirements for a summer trip. Bedroom windows without shades, no black out curtains, only one working fan and no way to turn the heat off made for a disappointing and uncomfortable last leg of an otherwise lovely trip. As others noted, the cabin is a "not exactly the dating profile pic" version of the Vacana pictures. Broken stairs and slanted floor, which isn't ideal, but liveable. All that said, the beds are comfortable and location is great.

Definitely not worth the money I paid to stay here 2 nights. Smelled like dogs-(Dog friendly house but we did not have dogs). Lesson learned. Not very clean at all. It looked nice but smelled a bit and felt dirty. Beds, bedding and pillows were super worn. In need of replacing. Windows flimsy with loose locks and broken framing on some. Hot water handle in downstairs bathroom was loose and coming off. Both bathrooms had cracked drains in the showers. Vents were super dusty. Hole in wall behind upstairs bathroom door. Hot tub water was cloudy and had small rocks and tree debris in it. Dishes were very used and scuffed up-Teflon-which is a health concern. Floor is uneven and feels very weak. Staircase railing is super loose and wiggling a lot, very unstable. The stairs also have huge gaps between the safety railing which I’m pretty sure is a building code violation. Also the stair steps are a bit sketchy, as they lean downwards and have slippery worn carpet. We slipped a few times on them. This house is in need of several updates and repairs. I would not stay here again until these were done. The neighborhood is great! Quiet and relaxing! And beautiful setting! The hot tub was nice after a day of skiing. Yes, even with the little rocks I was stepping on.

The house is older but clean. It served the purpose of my husband and daughter skiing. It does need some TLC, especially with the furniture.
Vacasa before I checked in was terrible via the reservations.
Management when we were there was amazing.
Connor, the guy who scoops snow was amazing. He went above and beyond his job.

Rented for two nights specifically for the hot tub, which was advertised with the listing. The hot tub didn't work, and when my travel partner placed her hand in the water she was shocked. Fire alarm started chirping in the middle of the night. Woke up to that and found mice all over. Reported the issues, spent most of the next day waiting for calls and to be moved to another property. Was asked to describe everything in detail, and wait around for the maintaince person to let them in to try to fix the hot tub. Was given about 0 percent off of our stay of two nights, and had to spend the second day one the phone with the company and moving. The cabin we moved to was in a construction area, but at that point we were just happy to not be surrounded by mice and facing possible electrocution. Prepare to be a fill in landlord if you stay here, and to pay money to do so.

We stayed at Kelly’s chalet over the new years holiday. The description of the cabin was exactly what we found. The cabin was warm and cozy and accommodated our family perfectly. Would stay here again.

Great location in a quiet neighborhood that is walking distance to Virgin Creek Falls and Girdwood Brewing. The sauna was AMAZING! There was an issue with the hot tub heating up which we discovered the first night. I messaged them in the morning and they sent someone out on site that same morning to take a look at it. It wasn’t going to be fixed within our stay and we received a credit to offset. Communication was quick, polite, and helpful! They were able to accommodate a late check out which was the cherry on top.
The house is older, dated, and could some repairs but it was very clean and welcoming. We had everything we needed and it was a delightful stay!

We loved our stay in Girdwood! My husband actually wished we would’ve stayed here our whole 10 day trip (we split it between 2 parts of Alaska to see more). This cabin is the perfect spot. All the basics you need when away from home, plus the bonus of the sauna and hot tub where awesome. We had a slight issue with the hot tub the first night and Vacasa was very quick to respond to my message about it, came out and fixed it the next day, and refunded a little for the trouble. Great customer service. King bed upstairs in the master is a nice touch. Comfy beds. Still a semi private spot with being in town. Really enjoyed exploring the area, it was beautiful in fall!!

This was a nice place to stay but could use some up keep on the property. There is a strong odor to the house. And this place is in a development, so nothing to private. The bedroom upstairs could use a cover over the window that over looks the main level and outside.

The home is laid out well and we loved having two bathrooms. Plenty of hot water and my husband enjoyed the hot tub. It is definitely dated and needs some outside maintenance work, but it is clean and in a great location. We had an issue with a broken shower knob and two non-working lights, but the lights were fixed the same day and the shower the day after because a part had to come from Anchorage. Vacasa was very responsive.
