Guests are well taken care of as the Gentry's live on-site and are available to supply your every need should one arise. The Gentry's are mindful of your seclusion and separateness and you can be assured your privacy is guaranteed. Visit Cataloochee Valley where you can get up close and personal with the elk that were reintroduced to our area. Fontana Lake is about 45 minutes away where you can rent paddle boats or go fishing and swim in the cool mountain waters. Golfing is quite close for you duffers and horseback riding is a sure bet to enjoy fall foliage in autumn. My husband and I really enjoyed staying at Gentry's Rest Stop 2 for a few days. The house is comfortably furnished and well-equipped. Honestly, I could have stayed on the back deck all day listening to the creek, but we did venture out to places close by: the Blue Ridge Parkway, Barber Orchard Fruit Stand outside Waynesville (happened to be there for opening day!), and Lake Junaluska to enjoy the beautiful gardens on the grounds.
We are looking forward to future stays.

Nice place. Quiet and peaceful.

Easy access, back porch very comfotable as you can sit and listen to the creek.

I stayed all week with my 80 year old mother, sister, and chihuahua Babee. Mom was able to move about the cabin and get from the car into the cabin with no problems. It was so peaceful and quiet. You can hear the creek outback and watch the chipmunks in the mornings. We stayed 7 days and enjoyed everything the area has to offer. The cabin is absolutely spotless and even better than I expected. I definitely plan to stay again.

Quiet, secluded, peaceful and relaxing.

We had so much fun! We saw elk right out our front door, it was so nice to relax in the hot tub after a day of hiking, the house was clean, and the view out back was gorgeous! Everything was perfect!

This is a cute place and overall great. There is a lot of "stuff" in this house- like decorations, dust-collectors, etc. way more than I have seen in a vacation house and the only problem I have with that is that we saw a roach in the kitchen and couldn't take care of it because there is so much kitchen clutter. There are LOTS of supplies for just about any purpose, but not great pots and pans. The policy of having guests wash and put away all their own dishes is not my preference because people might have different cleaning methods and while we hope they do a great job, we pulled out a couple of kitchen items that didn't seem to have been put away clean. Personally, I would prefer if the policy was to put everything in the dishwasher and start it before leaving so the professionals can determine if everything is clean enough. The stuff on the porch makes it hard to walk around, but the check in process was easy, beds were clean and comfortable, plenty of water pressure, hot tub very clean and nice!

This cabin is great. It is perfect for families with kids. Our kids are 7 and 9, and they absolutely loved it. They played out back by the creek and said that was their favorite part of our trip! Getting to and from the shops, Tube World, and restaurants was an easy drive. The kids room that has bunk beds was so cute! Lots of toys and very cozy feel. Really, the entire cabin was very cozy. The gas fireplace was awesome. The kitchen has everything you need to cook! We went grocery shopping and cooked most of our meals there. We did try Joey's Pancake house which was SOOOO good! The hot tub was great, the beds were comfy, and the place was very clean. We met the neighbors dog, Dorothy, who is the sweetest! Our kids were so sad to leave her! Rhonda was very kind, and let us know about a winter storm warning on our last night there. She even told our kids that if it did snow, she had sleds for them to use! It didn't end up snowing (just rain), but what a sweet gesture!
All in all, we loved it here and would absolutely stay again. We are already thinking about heading back in the fall to see the leaves changed color.
TIP: make sure you listen to Rhonda's recommendation to print out the welcome packet she sends! We didn't and had no cell service, so didn't know the code to get in. Thankfully, even though it was 9pm, she came and let us in!
Thanks so much Rhonda! You made our family vacation wonderful!

A beautiful creek at the bottom of the property. Mountain laurel & pine trees all around. The large back porch has a great view of the stream & is so quiet you can hear the water running through the creek. It was decorated for fall. Our poodle loved running around the creek. She had a blast. It was our 48th Anniversary & we really loved our stay.

Everything was great except the hot tub. Hot tub could use some cleaning. House was well decorated and had Everything we needed. We will be coming back in the future.

Lovely rustic setting! We were conveniently located for day trips to Hartford, TN and Asheville, NC. So much more to explore. Definitely would consider returning to Maggie Valley. Thank you for providing a safe and comfortable getaway.

We had a great time with our family. The creek is amazing and everything was so cute and homey. Definitely would visit again. Sadly we didn't get to see the elk or bear, maybe next time!

We had a great stay even though the weather was not always on our side. This was a great place to stay and clean. My kids enjoyed the creek and it felt like home away from home.

We were very happy with the area and the house, and its surroundings. We enjoyed meeting the owners and conversing with them.

This was our third trip to the rest stop and every one has been great. I love the update to the fire pit by the creek. We will be back again next year.

This was easily the best house we’ve rented- it had everything you could want. My boys loved the bunk beds, we loved the master bedroom suite. I will miss relaxing on the deck- it was wonderful being up there and listening to the roaring brook below. And the hot tub was the icing on the cake.
We had driven a long way (from CT), and this house truly felt like a home away from home.

This was our first stay at Gentry’s Rest Stop #2. It was wonderful and we will be back! Easy access up Black Camp Road and turn off right to the house. The house itself was well equipped with everything needed and more. Our favorite parts of the property was the back porch and back yard! Absolutely beautiful view of Jonathan Creek which runs throughout Maggie Valley. Listening to the creek from the porch and second bedroom was a treat. We used the grill a couple of nights and enjoyed eating outside. Awesome fire pit for marshmallow roasting too. Very convenient location for exploring nearby mountains. Thank you for allowing pets also! The hot tub was also a nice treat - it was warm and ready. We had great weather (70’s) all week and enjoyed your place so much! Thank you for sharing your home! Nice to meet y’all as well!

We had a great stay. The property had everything we needed. The beds were comfy, kitchen fully equipped and very nicely decorated. We hiked 45 miles during our stay so the hot tub and firepit were a nice finish to our day.
The back deck was fantastic, and a beautiful view. We would not hesitate to return.

We lived the cabin. Everything we needed was there. Very comfortable. The nice part when got there late and when we found the ca in the lights were on. Thank you so much. Want to come back again

The property is spectacular, between the rushing creek and the mountains it doesn’t get any better. The cabin is very well stocked with everything you could possibly need and more. We can’t get back soon enough.

Had a great time. House had everything we needed. Used the fire pit & hot tub everyday. Loved being on the creek.

It wasn’t entirely clear that the owners would be staying immediately next to us, I feel like that expectation needs to be addressed to anyone interested in the property. We all have chlorine sensitivity, and I attempted to leave the chlorine device outside of the hot tub, and they would keep coming over into the area we were renting and putting it back in. I’m sure Kathy will have a good reason for this, I notice she monitors the reviews very carefully. Beyond that, the area down by the river and behind the back porch feels like you are in a magical section of Disneyland. It really is an amazing property, we feel blessed to have spent some time here. The bold instructions, three sheets of them, on the refrigerator threatening to charge you another night should you stay past 10:30 AM on checkout day were slightly unsettling, but we cleaned everything meticulously and hopefully satisfied the requirements.

The cabin was everything we could’ve asked for. The view, the creek, the fire pit was all great for our kids. It had all the comforts of home, all the little things you may have forgot to pack. The location was great, not right in town but real close by. My kids loved the bunk bed room. I loved sitting on the back porch listening to the creek and reading. We enjoyed our time very much. We even saw elk. They weren’t on the property but we’re right down the road.

Enjoyed our stay, very comfortable, quiet, and relaxing. Host were great and attentive. Definitely will be coming back.

Our family enjoyed another great stay in Maggie Valley at Gentry’s Rest Stop II. We spent one day enjoying the slopes at Cataloochee and another exploring Waynesville.
The hot tub was the perfect ending after a long day and nothing beats the sound of the creek from the back porch.
Can’t say enough wonderful things about the house and location and we look forward to booking our next trip.

We all enjoyed our stay! Communication with owners was great. House was comfortable and had everything we needed. The house is in a beautiful location. We enjoyed the creek and the relaxing sound, and watching the variety of squirrels, especially the flying squirrels! We hope to be able to visit again soon.

We had an absolute blast all week. The creek in the back yard was awesome. The kids had a blast. It’s a very cozy house. Had everything you need in it. Very easy to get to. There is no cell service at the house at all. Which was great for us. They do have internet but its in the mountains so it works when it wants to. Very nice relaxing place to get away from everything and enjoy nature. We did not see the resident elk in our front yard but it was a couple house over and we saw it 3 or 4 times all week. Went over to Cherokee and went tubing. Kids loved it.
4.8
Thank you for everything! We had an amazing stay.

Nice quiet place to stay and rest
It was a very nice quiet place to stay with a cool creek to relax by. Very clean, had everything you would need for a family to be comfortable. You could do a lot of things like shopping in craft, antique, and souvenir shops, play putt putt, eat some ice cream while viewing the mountains. We even got a chance to do some house back riding not for from here. My family was very happy to be able to stay here. Very cool place to stay for a summer vacation.

Gentry's Rest Stop
This place is HEAVEN. We really enjoyed the tranquility. We had several visits by resident elk. We also had a precious boomer that visited the back deck all day. The back deck was our favorite place. It overlooks the brook. We will be coming back. Thank you for an awesome stay.
