About this cabin rental

Gentry's Rest Stop-2 is your one-stop vacation playground! HOT TUB JUST ADDED! With great motorcycle access, this air conditioned cabin is the perfect compliment to Gentry's Rest Stop-1, the 'Big House' also located on the same property. This cabin is newly remodeled and is a natural for any overflow from the 12 occupancy larger home that can be rented for large family reunions or shared vacations, yet intimate enough for two. Outdoors there is a firepit, picnic table, grill and Jonathan Creek is right in the backyard! Very easy access year round. Guests have horseback riding, snow skiing and both water & snow tubing in town.

Dogs Allowed with Prior Approval - DOGS ONLY (limit 2) 35-40 lbs.

WANT TO KNOW MORE?: Gentry's Rest Stop-2 is professionally decorated by the owner, a well known interior designer, in a charming country décor and the outside has also been lovingly tended for picture-taking for your memory books. Four-season and holiday decorations contribute to the coziness of the home and children love to view some of the local wildlife close up that is part of the area. Gentry's have their own 'resident' elk, aptly named Bullwinkle, who actually comes to visit occasionally and loves to pose for pictures! Raccoon and squirrels scoot among the trees as well as hummingbirds, butterflies and fireflies at night. Guests are well taken care of as the Gentry's live on-site and are available to supply your every need should one arise. The Gentry's are mindful of your seclusion and separateness and you can be assured your privacy is guaranteed. There's plenty of parking for vehicles and if you want to trailer your motorcycle or ATV, there is more than enough room for turn-arounds on the gravel driveway. Easy access all year and ATV and motorcycle enthusiasts will find many trails to explore.

WHAT'S THERE TO DO?: Nearby attractions include the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Blue Ridge Parkway with miles of never-ending views of the beautiful mountains and valleys; Great Smoky Mountain Railroad in Dillsboro, Biltmore Estate with its winery and garden tours, hiking, shopping, antiquing, whitewater rafting, tubing (both water and snow), horseback riding and of course eating at the many restaurants around the area. Only about 30 minutes away is Cherokee where you will find Harrah's Casino, and find an authentic pair of moccasins or other Native American gifts for that special person. Visit Cataloochee Valley where you can get up close and personal with the elk that were reintroduced to our area. Fontana Lake is about 45 minutes away where you can rent paddle boats or go fishing and swim in the cool mountain waters. Golfing is quite close for you duffers and horseback riding is a sure bet to enjoy fall foliage in autumn. Maggie Valley's very own Ghost Town in the Sky is now reopened and features a new ZIPLINE for you thrill-seekers! Dollywood, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge are about an hour away.

My husband and I really enjoyed staying at Gentry's Rest Stop 2 for a few days. The house is comfortably furnished and well-equipped. Honestly, I could have stayed on the back deck all day listening to the creek, but we did venture out to places close by: the Blue Ridge Parkway, Barber Orchard Fruit Stand outside Waynesville (happened to be there for opening day!), and Lake Junaluska to enjoy the beautiful gardens on the grounds. We are looking forward to future stays.

I stayed all week with my 80 year old mother, sister, and chihuahua Babee. Mom was able to move about the cabin and get from the car into the cabin with no problems. It was so peaceful and quiet. You can hear the creek outback and watch the chipmunks in the mornings. We stayed 7 days and enjoyed everything the area has to offer. The cabin is absolutely spotless and even better than I expected. I definitely plan to stay again.

We had so much fun! We saw elk right out our front door, it was so nice to relax in the hot tub after a day of hiking, the house was clean, and the view out back was gorgeous! Everything was perfect!

This is a cute place and overall great. There is a lot of "stuff" in this house- like decorations, dust-collectors, etc. way more than I have seen in a vacation house and the only problem I have with that is that we saw a roach in the kitchen and couldn't take care of it because there is so much kitchen clutter. There are LOTS of supplies for just about any purpose, but not great pots and pans. The policy of having guests wash and put away all their own dishes is not my preference because people might have different cleaning methods and while we hope they do a great job, we pulled out a couple of kitchen items that didn't seem to have been put away clean. Personally, I would prefer if the policy was to put everything in the dishwasher and start it before leaving so the professionals can determine if everything is clean enough. The stuff on the porch makes it hard to walk around, but the check in process was easy, beds were clean and comfortable, plenty of water pressure, hot tub very clean and nice!

This cabin is great. It is perfect for families with kids. Our kids are 7 and 9, and they absolutely loved it. They played out back by the creek and said that was their favorite part of our trip! Getting to and from the shops, Tube World, and restaurants was an easy drive. The kids room that has bunk beds was so cute! Lots of toys and very cozy feel. Really, the entire cabin was very cozy. The gas fireplace was awesome. The kitchen has everything you need to cook! We went grocery shopping and cooked most of our meals there. We did try Joey's Pancake house which was SOOOO good! The hot tub was great, the beds were comfy, and the place was very clean. We met the neighbors dog, Dorothy, who is the sweetest! Our kids were so sad to leave her! Rhonda was very kind, and let us know about a winter storm warning on our last night there. She even told our kids that if it did snow, she had sleds for them to use! It didn't end up snowing (just rain), but what a sweet gesture! All in all, we loved it here and would absolutely stay again. We are already thinking about heading back in the fall to see the leaves changed color. TIP: make sure you listen to Rhonda's recommendation to print out the welcome packet she sends! We didn't and had no cell service, so didn't know the code to get in. Thankfully, even though it was 9pm, she came and let us in! Thanks so much Rhonda! You made our family vacation wonderful!
