About this cabin rental
Nestled in the woods on a small island easily accessed by ferry, our "tiny" cabin offers island serenity with all the essentials. Small in size, yet perfect for two- enjoy the porch swing or its wicker chairs for a peaceful afternoon with a book or walk your coffee to Gilley Beach and watch the sun rise, just a few hundred yards down the road. The dining table easily accommodates 4 should you want to invite your new island friends over for drinks or dinner!
The Cabin offers a full bathroom with oversize shower with paper goods, soap, and towels provided. A well-equipped kitchen offers a two-burner cooktop, fridge, microwave/convection combo, toaster, keurig coffee maker with pods, and handheld mixer along with all the pots and pans, dishes, and silverware one could need. A Weber Gas grill and single burner lobster cooker are just outside the cabin for all your favorite grilled meals. The queen bed in the loft is accessed by a spiral staircase. A queen sleeper is also available on the main floor for those that prefer to avoid stairs. Modern conveniences such as quality high speed wifi, a smart tv with your favorite apps, heat and AC blend with aged driftwood accents and birch sapling railings to create a calm, cozy, yet very comfortable place to retreat to while still feeling connected to the world at large on whatever level you choose.
The cabin is near the main house making us easily accessible for all questions about island life, lobstering, off-island adventures (such as Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor), and what it's like to winter in Maine yet still provides all the privacy you would want. Paul loves to offer a free pair of lobsters to all our guests, fresh off his lobster boat in order to fully immerse in the Maine island experience. It's a 10-12 minute walk (or 5 minute bike ride) to the Town Dock where the ferry lands and departs every two hours in the summer- providing easy access to Acadia and its truly infamous Rockefeller carriage roads and trails- but please know we always greet our guests at the dock upon arrival to transport luggage and groceries and provide a warm welcome to the island. On the mainland the Island Explorer FREE bus service departs from the ferry pier regularly to allow all visitors full access to Acadia without the hassle of looking for parking. We do, however, offer a free, designated parking spot on the mainland, adjacent to the ferry pier, for the duration of our guest's stay. The short, very scenic ferry ride amongst the Cranberry Isles on the passenger "mailboat" is considered by many to be one of the more memorable highlights of any visit to our island.
The island is home to a locally-renowned hot spot, The Islesford Dock Restaurant. Also on Islesford are Islesford Pottery, several art galleries, several museums, and a gift shop. A library and post office are just a 5-7 min walk. Further, a summer night ferry (several nights to 6 nights a week depending upon the month) offers easy access to the bustle of Bar Harbor and the carriage roads of Acadia National Park while at the same time allowing the quiet ocean waves to lull you to sleep once you return.

This cabin was absolutely perfect. Just what we needed. A few minute walk to a beautiful beach filled with amazing rocks and wildlife. All the neighbors were so friendly. The hosts went out of their way to make sure our stay was perfect. We learned how to cook, lobster and had breakfast waiting for us every morning. Fresh baked scones, muffins, yogurt, parfait with fresh berries, and homemade granola, the best bread pudding I have ever had in my life. Just a few reasons why you need to run to book this stay. We got a ride from the dock when we arrived to bring all of our luggage to the cabin. We got a ride when we departed so we didn’t have to carry our luggage. I wish we had more time to spend with the hosts, they are so friendly and so kind and extremely generous and , I miss them.

The perfect trip, the perfect cabin, the perfect hosts. What else can I say? This was the best rental I have ever stayed in by a mile. We just wanted a relaxing place to stay in Maine, what we found is our new favorite destination. The cabin is perfect, clean, beautiful and secluded. It is on an island and you can only get there by boat, but the ferries that serve it are frequent and super easy to use. Frankly, that only added to the fun and experience. The hosts are the most accommodating and considerate people you will ever meet. I almost booked a different place but saw this one just in time. Wow how fortunate I am. Our trip would have been fine if we had stayed at an ordinary place but this rental made it unforgettable. I can’t wait to return. And eat more lobsters!

The cabin set in the woods and just a short walk to the shore was a great little getaway for my wife and I. Joanne and Paul were, by far, the best landlords we have encountered. Their gracious attention to every detail, and may supprises that we didn't expect that they provided made our trip to Maine the best that it could have been.

First and foremost, Joanne and Paul were the most amazing hosts we’ve ever had. There was no detail put into the cabin or their hospitality left unnoticed. The breakfasts every morning were filling, delicious, and much appreciated! Not having to cook breakfast allowed us to sleep in on the most comfortable bed ever! The island- it’s the perfect spot for a proper getaway. Not only was it the safest I’ve ever felt in my adult life, it was so peaceful and calm. Everyone was really kind - it was such a quaint and close knit community. This time of year (mid-September) was the perfect fall weather. We enjoyed a couple of days meandering around the island and relaxing at the cabin, and then we did two day trips to Acadia. Once you’re off the ferry, it’s a quick drive into the main part of Acadia. We ventured further to the Schoodic Peninsula and it was so worth it - the views were incredible. If you’re looking for the perfect spot to rest on the days you’re not exploring Acadia, please do yourself a favor and book Joanne and Paul’s cabin. We cannot wait to return!

Joanne and Paul provide an elevated experience from start to finish and the cabin is wonderful! Very well equipped - they have thought of everything. We thoroughly enjoyed using Islesford as our home base to explore Acadia/MDI. Just as much, we loved exploring Islesford and learning all about its rich history. Using the mailboat ferry was fun and easy and, in our opinion, added to the experience. We absolutely plan on returning to this magical cabin!

We had such a magical stay! My partner and I stayed for 8 nights and I wished we had stayed longer. The cabin was clean, so comfortable and has everything you may need. Joanne is a gem and makes sure that your stay is great from start to finish. The ferry was super easy to catch to get on and off island. We can't wait to book again for next summer. If you have found this cabin available to book, you should definitely book it.

We had an amazing time staying at this tiny cabin! Very clean, well stocked, and everything you could possibly need. We left the island everyday in the ferry to explore Acadia and other nearby areas and then spent mornings and evenings on Little Cranberry Island. AC works wonderful for the hot muggy days. The morning treats that Joanne made every morning were always a yummy treat! Super nice and responsive hosts, would definitely stay again if in the area!! It is a little piece of Paradise to stay here!! The only suggestion that would make it over the top, is bikes to use while staying on the island!

It had everything we needed and we couldn’t ask for better hosts! Joanne is awesome and goes out of her way to make sure things are good for you. The morning treats were fabulous! We really enjoyed the ferry rides everyday. We met a lot of nice people!

Our time at the Islesford Cabin was outstanding! Paul & Joanne are very gracious, generous hosts and attended to every little detail, including suggestions for travel and getting to the island, catching the ferry, and of course, delicious breakfast treats every morning! The cabin is well supplied for two, and we were able to cook a couple of meals "in" as well as visit the local Dock Restaurant. We enjoyed the quiet of the small island, and look forward to visiting again in the future. Thanks for a great trip!

Our Islesford Cottage stay was exactly what we wanted. The cottage is very well appointed with everything we needed for our eight day stay. It is incredibly relaxing and peaceful.
Joanne and Paul are awesome hosts and go above and beyond in everything they do. From the moment they picked us up at the dock until they dropped us off they make sure everything is perfect. The morning treats and surprises start every day off with a smile. The lobsters they provided right off Paul's lobster boat were fantastic.
We really enjoyed discovering the history and meeting many residents of Islesford and Great Cranberry Island by taking advantage of the easy ferry back and forth. Everyone is very proud of their island and happy to talk about their experiences and lifestyle. Overall, our visit was awesome and everything we hoped for.

I almost hate to write this because I want this to stay hidden but I know that's not possible :). We had the most amazing time at "the cabin in the woods" . We did a "half work-half vacation" on the island so we needed to have really internet which we did. It was great for streaming video calls etc. The cabin itself has all the amenities to make you super comfortable. Joanne and Paul set you up with everything you need to make you comfortable and do a great job of communicating everything you need to get to the island. Everyone talks about the "goodies" that Joanne bakes and brings every morning to the cabin and they are sooo good. They are the best hosts I have ever seen and you will want to sit down and chat with them. Good people! If you forget to bring something to the island, the little general store at the dock may have it for a reasonable price. The island restaurant has great food and the locals are super friendly. 25 minute ferry trips back and forth to the mainland give you easy access to Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor or some of the other islands. We are already planning on when we can get back out there again. We loved it!

This is the perfect place for a couple who want a quiet getaway that is close to Acadia. Joanne and Paul are fantastic hosts who are close by and ready to help with anything. They have lived, worked and raised a family on Little Cranberry Island, and are a wealth of information and suggestions. Their cabin is beautiful and comfortable.

Awesome stay! Joanne and Paul were amazing hosts. Joanne bakes like no one else and Paul is a hard working Lobsterman and aspiring salesman.. lol! You couldn't ask for better people and hosts. This was our first ever trip to Maine and hope to go back one day. But we have plans to go to other areas of the country.

Isleford Paradise
JoAnne & Paul made our trip to Isleford one we will never forget. They are both wonderful people we will never forget. Hospitality akin to days of old. We hope to return to this island paradise in the future. The cabin was perfect for our 25 Anniversary with short walks to beautiful scenic beaches. The ferry boat ride to the island offers great views of surrounding islands and a great value as well. So much more - book it, you wont regret it! PS- JoAnee makes awesome goodies each morning for her guests :)

The most enchanting vacation
The entire experience was amazing. From the private island, beautiful and peaceful beaches, the fun ferry ride, meeting the locals, Joanne's morning treats, and Paul's Lobsters! We loved visiting Acadia NP and loved the cooler weather!
The only thing that was a little challenging was walking down the spiral stair case at night to use the bathroom after being sore from hiking all day. But no injuries and we were careful.

Heaven in Acadia
We had such a wonderful time staying at Joanne and Paul’s cabin - a completely unique experience! We got to see how the “regular people” of Little Cranberry live and experience the true natural beauty of this area. Conveniences of Mount Desert Island were just a short and easy ferry ride away, and we are glad that we got to get “get away from it all” at this cabin. Also, the daily breakfasts were amazing and such a treat! Highly recommend.

Visit to Acadia National Park
Our cabin on Little Cranberry Island was the perfect get-away for two! The cabin was so clean and so tastefully decorated and comfortable. Joanne provided us fabulous breakfasts every morning! Absolutely delicious. Both she and Paul are wonderful and knowledgeable hosts and made our stay so easy and welcoming. We loved the adventure of life on an island for a week and the peace and solitude it provided. Beautiful island, beautiful views and a fun ride to and from the Northeast Harbor every day. A great way to relax and spending a week hiking and biking in one of our favorite National Parks, Acadia. Would highly recommend a stay in Joanne and Paul's beautiful cabin. Excellent hosts! Paul even provided fresh lobster for us one evening! Delicious. A week we will never forget!

Beautiful stay at Islesford cabin
Joann and Paul are truly wonderful hosts! The attention to detail in the cabin made our stay so comfortable and relaxing. Joann has thought of everything you could possibly need for your stay! And the breakfast treats were truly amazing - we loved enjoying them while sitting on the porch with coffee in the morning.
We spent a few days taking the morning ferry to Acadia for some hiking and also spent a couple of days exploring Little Cranberry Island, eating at the Islesford Dock Restaurant (the clam chowder was especially delicious) and just relaxing in the beautiful cabin.
We definitely hope to visit again - once is not enough!!

Absolutely magical
Have you ever wanted to stay in a magical cottage/cabin in the woods? Perhaps on an island, like in a fairy tale or cheesy romance novel. This is it, but better. Romantic and relaxing all day long. The space is quaint and perfectly utilized. The decor is charming and tasteful. The entire place is clean, comfortable, well organized and has all the amenities including Wi-Fi. Joanne is an absolute delight. Easy to communicate with, knowledgeable about the area and she made great recommendations for padding and other day trips off island. Best of all THE TREATS! We took to referring to her as “the treat goddess”. She leaves the most delicious things for you, perfectly plated and then, seemingly evaporates into thin air afterword. (I did manage to catch her once.) The island is beautiful, everything is within walking distance. Sunsets on the docks are amazing. The mail boat runs like clockwork. Hands down the best coastal Maine experience you could ever ask for. We will be returning.

Truly once in a lifetime vacation! This little “cabin in the woods” was appointed with everything you could need! Our hosts were accommodating and fantastic! Homemade breakfast delivery every morning and they were delicious! Lobster “right off the boat” and a sense we were staying with friends! Joanne even helped pack us lobster to take home! Five stars just aren’t enough!

Perfection
The Cabin was perfection. Everything was exactly as it appeared in the photos: immaculate, cozy, and filled with care and charm. Joanne and Paul are exceptional hosts; they truly care about the comfort and happiness of their guests. The information packet Joanne sent before the stay was welcoming and extremely helpful, and she made all aspects of arriving at the island easy. Joanne's baking is sublime. She created incredible breakfasts and we loved opening the door to see what amazing treats awaited us. We will truly miss being at the Cabin and cannot wait to return next summer. We are grateful to have found this gem!!

Wonderful Getaway
We had such a wonderful experience with Joanna and Paul. They were exceptional hosts; in communication leading up to the trip so that we could ask any questions, there to meet us at the ferry the moment we arrived, and were so accommodating and ready to help with anything throughout our stay. Plus, Joanne's morning treats were incredible. The cabin was such a cute, cozy place to stay, and it had everything a traveler would need to feel right at home. The island itself is light on restaurants/stores (although we had a lovely dinner at Isleford Dock), so we planned to do some of our own cooking when we were not visiting off-island locations, and the cabin was perfectly set up for that. The loft bedroom was adorable, and no kidding, the bed was insanely comfortable. We had a nice time walking around and exploring the island during the day (bring bug spray, though!), and it was super easy to jet off to Bar Harbor. Overall, an AMAZING stay, and we can't wait to visit again.

A beautiful place to stay!
Do yourself a favor and book this place if you can! The cabin is the pefect getaway spot. From the fresh breakfast pastries every morning that Joanne would bring to the lobster at night, she made sure all our needs were met. It is a very nice place to go to get away from the hustle and bustle of Mount Desert Island or Acadia National Park. The cabin is very clean and tidy and makes you feel at home as soon as you step inside. Overall this is an excellent place to stay.

When booking our mini honeymoon me never could have imagined how magical of a place this could be. The cabin so simple yet warm and cozy, it truly felt like home. It was very comfortable and full of all the necessities. From the appliances to the lovely decor, we never found ourselves in need of anything more. Both Joanne and Paul were helpful from the time of booking until we boarded the ferry the final time. We woke with anticipation each morning to see what delicious pastry Joanne left us on our front porch. In the evening we enjoyed the best lobsters, ever, straight from Paul’s boat. The island was amazing. The rocky beach was a short walk from the cabin. We often found ourselves alone on the beach scouring for a little treasures. The people of the island were so friendly. We visited Acadia while vacationing, but decided staying on the island was even more enjoyable. This was an experience of a lifetime. The island was a hidden gem and the cabin was the true treasure. The time we spent here will stay with us always.

What wonderful hosts Joanne and Paul are! From the moment we booked the trip back in August, they were there for us with answers for any questions we had. The cabin is exactly what you picture it to be from the ones provided! Such a beautiful space that is beautiful, clean, and you can tell it was built with so much love. The little village of Islesford is so sweet and quaint you would never want to leave. Joanne’s daily treats kept us on our toes wondering what we were going to get each morning. This cabin is the perfect place to stay for a couple wanting something alone time and time to explore the outdoors. The excellent hospitality of Joanne and Paul was truly the Cherry on top! They made you feel comfortable and right at home. I would recommend this place to my friends and family!
