Yannon Towers is a fantastic listed castle/folly is said to be styled on Balmoral and now provides a unique holiday experience for our guests - many of whom are now returning on a regular basis! The house is full of historical features including a stone spiral staircase and wood panelled walls and fire surrounds. Vivien Liegh was a regular house guest here and it has been said that she particularly liked the huge sweeping staircase which runs from the first to ground floor. Here you really can experience that taste of grandeur!
Once inside you can enjoy outstanding sea and estuary views from every window. The tower room with its four poster bed is a real treat to wake up in - especially on a beautiful sunny day. The house is just short walk from Teignmouth town centre and sea front and has easy driving access to Dawlish, Shaldon, Torquay, Dartmoor and Exeter plus many other South Devon attractions.
The property has plenty of space with 5 large bedrooms, 3 double and 2 twin beds. There are two bathrooms plus a unique downstairs toilet! The lounge / diner has ample space and comfy seating where you can relax and enjoy the sea views or have fun playing one of the many games provided - including a few murder mysteries! The kitchen and bathrooms are all modern whilst retaining their character And the property itself retains many of it’s original features. There is a large garden with outdoor seating and ample parking for up to four cars on site, plus off site road parking.
Yannon Towers really is a delightful and unique place to stay.

I found Jenny very responsive to any questions asked, even on day of arrival we enjoyed a good journey down to Teignmouth so much so arrived early. Phoned Jenny and asked could we check in early. Nothing to much trouble for Jenny, excellent host. Would fully recommend staying in this property.

This is a remarkable property, with its breathtaking tower and stunning views. The castle and facilities overall were comfortable, though we found the house cold and the heating somewhat tricky. It would have been helpful if the owners could have met us when we arrived and explained some of the idiosyncrasies of this mid-19th century building.

Fabulous building with great history. Awesome views from every window. Doesn't take long to walk to Teignmouth and the beach, a fabulous little town. Youngs ones walked back up but us old un's (70's) got a taxi back (very reasonable) It was great to leave the car and walk even to Shaldon via the ferry. Fabulous pubs and eateries. All in all a wonderful holiday.

Fantastic week made even better by great weather, ideal property and location for extended family holiday , would highly recommend staying here

I am totally in love with this property - it is just fabulous. So many original features, fantastic views and in a lovely part of Devon. This impressive house sits on the top of a hill overlooking Teignmouth and Shaldon, so during the day you can see the sea over to the left and the boats moored up in the estuary below. At night, you can see the coastline lit up by the towns of Teignmouth and Shaldon. During our stay, we caught the small ferry over to Shaldon and had lunch at The Ness, which is a really beautiful restaurant and then walked through the smugglers tunnel to Ness Cove Beach, which was spectacular. We also sat and had a few drinks at the Ship Inn in Teignmouth and had lunch nextdoor at the Crab Shack, both of which I would thoroughly recommend. If you feel like some fish and chips, then i would recommend Finn McCools, which is on the sea front. The town of Teignmouth is fairly small and quiet but there are plenty of places to eat, listen to live music and have a few drinks.

Stunning views from this ‘castle’ folly. Great for families with plenty of space to escape each other, well equipped. Location on a hill means steep climb back up from town so ended up using our cars more than we would have liked.

Spooky but fab holiday!
Great place for a Halloween holiday! The castle was perfect for a large family. The owners were really helpful and the location was perfect for lots of dog walks and pub lunches!!

Take friends/family and enjoy. The building has history and is certainly quirky. The views of Teignmouth are spectacular and the walk back from town, good exercise. Don’t expect perfect decor but is suits the house.
We had a fantastic time.

What a week we had at Yannon Towers, the house is so unique and so homely from the minute you walk through the door.
The little touches like a few bottles of wine and biscuits on arrival were lovely.
There was tons of room for the 9 of us and each room is full of character and stories.
The views from all rooms are fantastic and the view up on the roof (though quite a climb and not accessible for all) is just simply sensational.
If and when we come back to Teignmouth we will definitely be checking to see if Yannon Towers is available first.

Very pleased with this accommodation. Beautifully clean, we could not fault the standard of cleanliness and presentation.
Very quirky, lots of points of interest and areas to explore. Plenty of space for the family to spread out and relax both inside and out. Well equipped kitchen. Clear instructions for entry and exit of the house. One small suggestion: more dishwasher tablets and a packet of disposable dishcloths - we had to buy some but could have easily brought from home.
Would definitely recommend and would be happy to stay again.

Wonderful location with stunning views.
We stayed over the weekend to celebrate my wife's 60th birthday with our family. We loved the unusual character property and found everything was as described and a nice touch was the welcome pack. Would certainly look to stay again in the future.

Great building with stunning views. Lots to do within an hours drive.
Jenny and Gary kindly provided lots of information prior to arrival, even updating local fliers to give us tourist ideas!
The property has everything you need. It is understandable that it's character is old, with lots of history, adds to the whole experience!
We had an incident with the cooker, Gary and Jenny kindly offered to sort asap but it wasn't essential for us, but it is good that they are contactable during your stay if need be.
Of note, I didn't realise where the border of the garden was (it is a semi-detached property), despite them placing a big notice in the hall. So unfortunately, had a run in with the neighbours after our dogs and kids were tearing about! Our fault though! Just forwarned for future stays.
The views are really quite breathtaking, a real highlight to the holiday.
Thanks for a lovely holiday, The Youngs.

different, calm and relaxing with incredible views
Wow to sum it up. This is a very old gothic style property which will never be forgotten. The beds are comfortable with lovely Damask duvet covers. The bedrooms are all clean and plenary of room. The top tower bedroom is a lot of stairs and is just a bedroom. So you have to go down for a wee but the views from this room are amazing. In fact they take your breath away. There is a view from every bedroom all breath taking.
If you continue up the stairs you can walk out on the tower roof terrace. This is not for the faint hearted. It’s so high up but OMG the views from here make you feel like you are on top of the world. This is an amazing place to be.
The lounge and dining area are very gothic in style with dark wood panelling and the old front door which is beautiful. The views from here are amazing. There are loads of board games and jigsaws and a massive dinning table. This room is cool even at 30 degrees which was wonderful. Because of the really thick walls.
The kitchen is better stocked than mine. What ever you need is there I even found an electric whisk and muffin tins. The two fridges are brilliant so you can keep food in one and drinks in the other. The kitchen windows don’t appear to open but the bar lifts up. Wonderful selection of mugs.
Downstairs loo is very old it’s like sitting on the throne in carved wood.
Open staircase up to the next floor is lovely with an old stained glass window.
First floor is stairs to tower bedroom. Stairs to 2nd floor not in to the tower a good Juliette bathroom with shower and loo and two bedrooms.
Second loot is two more spacious bedrooms and a lovely bathroom with a shower with a view!
Over all I had the most relaxing chilled out week and spent most of the time on the huge lawn celebrating my 50th. It was a great week.
I can recommend the crab shack on the front too.
Lovely old place.

A really interesting house for a family holiday.
Plenty of space and a very interesting building to stay in. Great views of Teignmouth and beyond. Worked really well for an extended family to stay. Was comfortable and had a well-equipped kitchen; we had everything we really needed. We could have done with another bathroom, and the decor is a bit tatty here and there, but that's OK for our kind of visit.
We enjoyed Teignmouth, Paignton - especially the zoo, train-rides including steam-driven, Dartmoor and many local walks. It is up a steep hill from the town and beach, but that's what gives it the great views.
Responses from the owner were fast and reliable; sorted out one minor glitch very promptly and helpfully.

Beautiful house, once a castle but now split into 3 properties of which I stayed at number 1
Very charismatic house, beautiful furnishings. Tower a little spooky with a resident ghost called Gerard who liked to become noisy in the tower at night. Beautiful views of the sea. Walking distance to Teignmouth town centre. Dog friendly with a lovely garden although this is not secure so best not to let a dog off lead in it if they have poor recall skills (like my beagle). Would definitely recommend this to friends.

Fantastic!
I booked to stay here for my partners 30th birthday, everyone was impressed with the venue as the house & view is breath taking!
I've never stayed in a castle and it looked so impressive, and the views and the grounds were amazing! Child, adult and dog friendly!
Inside has the old features to give you that Gothic feel, however shower, kitchen, tv etc was all modern! So you got the best of both worlds!
It was a 10 min walk to the town and beach, which was handy as everything was on your doorstep.
Thank you for a lovely stay, and were definitely be back!

Very good weekend
Arrived on the 4th November for the weekend our first impression was very good ,it was well equipped for all 10 of us ,very good ambience ,the views were worth the climb up the spiralling stone steps to the tower even us less fit managed to climb them too.
We had lovely weather which helped although there was plenty to do indoors , we took a murder mystery game which we played on the Saturday evening ,but there were murder mystery games there along with plenty of other games for all ages.
We did Tesco & a takeaway order, their drivers (local?) had problems finding it although all of our 4cars found it easily .
We all agree we'd definitely would like to go again so Jenny & Gary you'll be hopefully hearing from us next year

Fantastic property
Booking easy & professional, property just as described, amazing views - easy to find and access, warm & welcoming - we were a family group with teenage children but would equally suit adult groups. Great base for travelling around, coastal trips, trips to Dartmoor - town easily accessible. All in all a fabulous stay - would thoroughly recommend

Comfortable and Great views throughout
We loved our stay at Yannon Towers. Seriously, it was one of the most memorable places we've ever stayed on a vacation. It was comfortable, plenty of space, and overall, it had everything we needed. It was close to the train, as well. We didn't need to rent a car (although we did). There were a lot of stairs, but I chalked that up to making it even more memorable. We would definitely stay at Yannon Towers again.

Birthday weekend with murder mystery.
A fantastic venue for a get together. The building has a lot of character and of course offers the opportunity to have your morning coffee in a turret overlooking a stunning sea view.
Apart from the turret, the castle offers some special touches, like a steam shower with a radio mp3 player, a welcome basket of tea, coffee and local fudge, board games galore and stunning views from every window you look out of.
We hosted a murder mystery on the Saturday night and it was the perfect setting. The rest of the time we spent exploring the local area where there is lots to offer in the way of coastal walks, small independent shops and we were lucky enough to stumble across a St George's day Morris dancing celebration.
We were only there for a weekend but made some very fond memories and we were all sad to leave.
Cannot recommend enough.
Many thanks.

What an amazing place!
I have just returned from a weekend where 10 of us went to stay Yannon Towers (The Castle) where we were celebrating 3 25th birthdays. I would just like to say what an amazing time we had, the castle was beautiful and made such a difference to the usual cottage setting that we tend to go for.
The castle is magnificent and whilst not Disney the turrets, high ceilings and sweeping staircase did make it feel a little magical! We all had a fab time, it was good to stay somewhere that catered to all of us e.g. enough double and twin rooms for the mix of us. Having arrived at 11pm we spent a while exploring each of the rooms and the view in the morning was such a gorgeous sight to wake up to. We stayed in the cream double room on the first floor which was charming as was the view from all of the rooms - all 10 of us were very happy. The tower room was great as was the view from the very top of the turret.
The fittings & fixtures are all clearly brand new and the multipurpose shower/steam room was good. On the Saturday we all walked into Teignmouth and despite the unforgiving October weather walked along the seafront and enjoyed fish & chips & ice creams on the beach. I fully recommend dabbling in a bit of crazy golf which has a very nicely maintained course. In the evening we had organised to do a murder mystery which was further brought to life by the castles atmosphere and charm - a definite must if you are having dinner in the castle and want it to be a bit different.
Altogether an amazing weekend, I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

A very special place to stay
Fabulous views and interesting rooms. An unusual and special place that is big enough for ten, but cosy at the same time. We loved the turret room and the sunsets from the top. But you need a good head for heights.
It was clean without being fussy and everything worked.
Teignmouth is a friendly lively place. Recommend going by ferry to Shaldon and walking along the cliffs or through the smuggler's tunnel to the beach.
Would love to go back for longer.

Fantastic stay in an authentic castle!!
We went to stay at Yannon Towers for a long weekend (8 adults and 2 small kids!!)
We are all friends from uni & go away annually - this was our first try at something different and we were absolutely blown away by the castle!
You wouldn't expect to find something so grand and when you first enter the castle it takes your breath away!
Many of the fixtures and fittings are clearly brand new but it has a magnificent old charm, it felt enchanted. We ended up staying in more than planned just because we all enjoyed the atmosphere so much.
We all loved it & will definitely be going back!

Week at the Folly
On arrival we were greated by a fantasic view overlooking the bay and town and that was from the road.Plenty of parking space we had three cars.
The garden was large with patio table and chairs with outside ball games stored in the garage and again a fantastic view plenty of space to have outside games.
Inside the folly was very clean and tidy with again a range of board games supplied for our BritIsh weather. The kitchen was exellent with all the things and more than you need even a washing machine.
The living a dinnning area made you feal like a Lord of the manor and the stairs you could do that Grand entrance.
All the bedrooms were big large and again with fantastic view.
The Tower room with the four poster was also fantastic and with great views.
Th view from the top of the tower was out of this world.
The booking was easy communication with the owners was exellent.
Would i go again Yes looking forward to re-booking thanks for a great holiday
