Great place to bring the kids (teenager)up for Spring Break. Very spacious and clean. We were able to cook lots of meals with the well equipped kitchen. Location was perfect- close to grocery store, ski resorts and restaurants.

The home was very comfortable for a family of 5 with 3 teens, 2 grandmothers and an aunt. There was plenty of roomat the table for meals and game nights. We were fortunate to have it snow one day - so beautiful, and we had fun in it when it stopped.

Very nice. Quite comfortable. May want to consider providing soaps, shampoos and extra towels for the bathrooms. Dish and dishwasher soaps for the kitchen. The ping pong table was great!!

Very deceiving pictures of the property. The kitchen faucet was broken. The outlets in the bathroom did not work. The bathroom track of shower doors were very dirty. The whole house had a funky smell to it. Lots of the windows did not have locks or they were broken. The overall cleanness of the property I was not happy with the floors were dirty and sticky. Just not happy with how much I paid per night with how the property condition was upon our arrival to the property.

We were 5 girlfriends vacationing in the Sierra and Tahoe was a 2-day stop for us. We really enjoyed the house that was perfect to comfortably accommodate us. It was very close to stores and restaurants but also has everything you need to cook. Calm neighborhood, clean and comfortable house.

Staying in this property was a great family escape. We liked being in North Tahoe, away from all the traffic. Parking spot and path to porch had been shoveled but still very snowy. Steps on porch keep freezing over and we couldn't find any ice melt. We appreciated have fire wood available- built a fire the first night. Heat and gas fireplace upstairs worked great. We enjoyed having two separate living spaces to hang out and watch movies. Missed having any sort of cable/TV, not even local channels to check weather or news.
Beds were ok. Master king bed was overly firm. Unfortunately the other large bed downstairs fell part when we tried to move it to get something that fell behind. That revealed that someone else's pet had peed on the bed skirt. (Our dog was not allowed in that room due to my DIL's allergies.) And the throw blanket on the bed reaked of urine too. All other bedding appeared to be ok.
I would recommend the property mgt company look at cleaning company they use. There was hairs still in both showers and lots of cobwebs. They were cobwebs in both showers, from lampshades, all over master bedroom ceilings, etc. Was a little disconcerting to lay down in bed and see that above you head.
Kitchen is well stocked with glasses, dishes, pans, etc. Nice having large fridge.
The views from the top deck were amazing! We saw great sunrises and pics of the lake. We even got in a few good games of ping pong! We would recommend this property.

Great destination for the whole family. We are so thankful the host let us bring our furry friends as well. Spent a lot of time in the cabin, it was clean and cozy. Safeway is only 5 minutes away which made for an easy trip when we first got there. We found a dog park not too far away that the dogs got excited to go to in the morning. Would definitely go back!

The place was perfect for the Fourth of July weekend with plenty of space. It was in a great location with easy access to good beaches. Check in was a little on the later side, but that was the only downside. It was very clean, and the overall renting experience was super easy!

Our group of friends had a wonderful time staying at Catalpa Vista. We loved the lake views and convenient quick drive to North Star mountain. The kitchen had everything we needed to make some great dinners. We loved hanging out on the deck in the sunny weather. The only problem that we had was that the upstairs shower was pretty much clogged from the moment we turned the water on. The bathroom downstairs was great. Thanks for a wonderful weekend!

In need of major upgrades - smelly
Aside from being a little out of the way from any local town, the house itself is in dire need of deep cleaning. It is quite smelly from old, greasy carpet (even visually darkened by too many years of use), to sofas so smelly and soft that we avoided using them, to upstairs plumbing that left our group of 8 all sharing the same downstairs bathroom to avoid toothbrush water and shower water from taking 1/2 a day to drain.
The master bedroom's light that you switch with the wall literally falls out of the wall if an adult walks by (a danger to all).
Trash day is Tuesday night, so of your stay there does not begin with a Tuesday or Wednesday you are stuck living IN your garbage (not great for those with dirty diapers to manage).
The floors are super creaky, making all aware and awake each time the bathroom is used at night.
There are a few nice amenities, the barbecue and outdoor seating are quite nice, as well as the provision of abundant bedding and towels.
None of these niceties would provide reason for our families to stay there again.

Villa Family Reunion
Thanks to the Hauserman Group for the wonderful experience with their office staff and support answering questions during our stay. This property was just the right size the the four kids and three adults. We really appreciated the those simple provisions that were available like the spices, soaps, beach towels and games available.
Overall, I'd rate this rental as adequate and reasonably priced. The furnishings were dated but the appliances were modern and everything worked.
This house doesn't have air conditioning and the heat wave during the end of July made the upstairs particularly warm (opening the upstairs bedroom windows helped a lot! The house is very dark with a light absorbing interior that would benefit from replacing the lights with energy saving LED lighting. There is a fireplace on the second floor adding to the upstairs temperature as the pilot light was lit that generated some heat; I didn't ask whether it was okay to shut off the gas but should have. The bedroom lighting is adequate and the wall lamps are delicately secured on the wall and slipped from their anchors. Ceiling lights would greatly help. The pillows were terrible. I'd highly recommend bringing your own. Loved the shower downstairs.
Adhere to the warnings provided about bears and being careful about securing your trash, rental and vehicles; follow the directions given and take them seriously. We did see trashed strewn outside of one home and sighted a bear in the neighborhood one afternoon. It wasn't aggressive.
Any vacation home rentals not located immediately across from the lake shore tends to have very steep trails, roads or paths. As you can image, parking places are at a premium along the lake shore but despite reports to the contrary, the water was warm. The beaches are well kept and there weren't vendors on the beaches so bring all you need.
Locating the house was a little confusing as their is a different house number on Idlewood but the description has a house number on Catalpa (this can be easily corrected).
