About this house rental
Vista Seas is a custom geodesic dome located on a 3 acre hilltop, with a horizon ocean view of the sea, 5 min. from both Pismo or Grover Beach, 15 minutes from the airport, San Luis Obispoos many downtown cafes, breweries, boutiques and wineries galore.
We are 1 minute from the 101 freeway and 5 minutes from anywhere in the 5 cities. A favorite just a 5 minute drive is the Old Town of Arroyo Grande with it's Saturday morning Farmer's market and a multitude of bistros, restaurants and boutiques.
Another 5 min. drive takes you to Pismo Beach and it's new boardwalk and pier or try the 'drive on' sand dunes of Grover Beach. Another favorite beach to enjoy with it's many shops and bistros is Avila, a 15 min. drive. The upscale college town of San Luis Obispo is just a 15 min away and more to explore there. It's famous "Thursday night market" where downtown streets are closed off for outdoor vendors and restauants open to the street, it is a crowd pleaser for adults and kids. To keep you busy besides the beaches...did we mention we are centered in the very heart of California's Central Coast WIneries? Too many to mention and all start no more than 10 minutes away.
Enjoy the quiet and views of oaks, pines and palms gazing down to the rim of the sea from the Tiger wood decking warmed by the interior/exterior fireplace. Enjoy the Japanese soaking cedar tub. Then take the curved stairs down to the lower stained cement patio and sit around the massive custom Chicago brick firepit with a curved stacked stone wall framing the upper deck. Ample arm chairs and couch with table to sit and enjoy the views with our art in place in the form of massive custom pots and their silk plants to soften the hillside views. Peace and solitude after your busy day.
Walking through the custom steel and glass double entry doors you will find the space, light and tranquility that makes the interior of this custom home so unique.
33 foot (11M) high ceilings in the living area, hand troweled plaster walls and a stacked stone wall surrounding the gas interior/exterior fireplace with light from the 20 foot (7M) high custom framed windows that pours into the sunken living area creates an ambiance that is exceptional. The sunken living room fireplace opens out onto the circular Tigerwood deck, complete with seating, table and our unique bronze art piece, "Inspiration" from a L.A. sculptor.
The living room with it's high ceiling is exceptional in open plan living with unique art throughout. All lower level floors are Travertine, the counters in the kitchen are Typhoon Bordeaux. In the open plan kitchen is a gas range and an oven with both convection or standard heat choices, all stainless appliances, ultra quiet Bosch dishwasher. Store your wines in the wine frig next to the sink!
In the deep sunken living room is the hearth of Rain Forest marble and a massive stacked stone wall with custom 'picture framed' windows facing oaks and palms beyond our deck, is a unique Rainforest marble, as are the counters in the master bath. This theme of nature, stone, rock, and marble runs throughout the home, both in flooring and counters as well as the unique live edge wood furnishings. With such massive ceiling heights, it is the light, the light that makes this home feel as if you are living within nature inside and out. Theatre spot lights brighten up the art and walls in the evenings.
Our eclectic art is often the most remarked comments by our guests. From an Egyptian tomb wall replica to an accent up light inside the bones of a Sedona Saguara Cactus set in an Indian Urhli ceremonial bowl keeps ouyr guests on the look out for what else is there? This all adds to the richness that our guests enjoy and helps create an atmosphere that this is not "just a rental" but a home of unique quality and comfort.
The master bedroom is on the ground floor and has a California King mattress and en suite bathroom . The art continues with a massive Triptych photo of Bryce Canyon after a snow storm on the wall, as well as an antique Japanese wedding Kimono on another. Sit down at the foot of the bed on a Blue Pine live edge seat to change shoes for beach going flip flops.
Before heading up the curved stairs, the office contains a live edged desk, sofa and cushion below the coffee table to play board games oin that are stored in the bookcase, also filled with books. This room features owner's passion for all things magic and has news articles, memorabelia galore to check out while hooking up your lap top.
The two bedrooms upstairs have a queen bed in one and two extra- long singles in the third bedroom, with a Travertine tiled tub/shower bathroom in between.
The mezzanine landing has a custom live edge "river" desk with ocean views, as well as a child's desk, with coloring books and crayons, kids books available as well. Teak furnishings allow for adults to set down a glass of wine on the Navajo drum, bought in Arizona on a reservation there.
The horizon sea views from here are perfect for sunset watching or throughout the day.

This home was amazing. 5 minutes close to everything and also very private. Would highly recommend staying here and enjoying the area.

Booked the dome for a long 4th of July wedding weekend in SLO. LOTS of room to relax and catch up with our young sons and their girlfriends. So comfortable. Glad we had air conditioning in the heatwave, but the evenings cooled down. Cant say enough about the exterior patio space. The kids watched fireworks from the distance while hot tubbing. Close to the beach, where we picked up breakfast and picnicked. Pricey for the 6 of us, but way better than a hotel stay. Totally worth it. The only negative was how hard it was to drag ourselves away from the property. Lots of great convesation and cocktails at the firepit. No one wanted to leave!

The house is in a great location, secluded but close to beaches and town. It was a fantastic, relaxing way to get out of the city!

Unique one of a kind house.

Very peaceful and relaxing stay
Enjoyed the 3 acres to stroll on and the neighbors were quiet. Nice views from the patio decks.
Really enjoyed the artwork and hand-crafted woodwork by the owner. Interactive artwork was fun as well and reading about the history of the collection of art was very interesting.
we enjoyed our time there!

We recently booked this property for my friend's 40th birthday! We all enjoyed the property (particularly the outdoor firepit and conversational living area with the gas fireplace). We even used the outdoor pizza oven! We were bummed that the amazing looking hot tub was under repair, but we visited the nearby Sycamore Springs to get our hot tub fix. Michael was helpful in helping us with a resolution.
Everyone in our party has since talked about returning to this very "magical" property.

We loved our time at this property. It’s better than the pictures! Absolutely interesting art and design. We loved the fireplace and hot soak. We had such a lovely stay.

Listing is everything it says. Easy process, perfect location and extremely unique.

It was a perfect getaway from the busy beach experience but still so close to everything you would want to enjoy! The house is beautiful and the way they displayed their art and artifacts was cool to see and learn about?

My husband and I stayed at this home for two nights for a wedding weekend nearby. The home is very interesting and filled with incredible object d'arts from around the world. Allow plenty of extra time to explore all that there is to see in the house. The house was fully stocked with anything one might need. The outdoor areas looked very inviting however it was a rainy weekend so we couldn't take advantage of it all. My only complaint is that the bathrooms could have been cleaner but other than that it's a great property!

We loved this property - was so unique and special; the owners put years of love into it!

Such a fun and unique property. Was a convenient location for the wedding we attended and to access the beach and town. Plenty of indoor and outdoor space to enjoy!

As everyone notes, the decor and art in the home are unique and make great conversation pieces. We also particularly appreciated the views and the outdoor seating areas. We were a group of four women friends and the place worked well for us in most ways. A few cautionary notes... the owners put labels on the doors warning you to avoid getting your fingers caught and this is to be taken seriously! We accidentally hurt one finger badly despite trying to be careful (note: first aid kit is locked away). The lovely sunken seating area by the fireplace works well for adults but there is no railing so might be dangerous with little kids running around or after a glass of wine. Acoustics in the geodome are lots of fun for playing the musical chimes they have placed here and there, though less optimal in the sense that sound travels everywhere making it hard to sleep in if someone else is already up. The hot tub and outdoor waterfall are very nice. It would be helpful to have a few extra towels when using the hot tub. There are very detailed instructions on how to use most things though a few need updating (e.g. T.V. control). We decided not to use the BBQ after reading the extensive instructions on how to perform the necessary cleaning. The kitchen is well stocked. The master bedroom downstairs is amazing in terms of beauty and comfort. The two upstairs bedrooms are more basic and functional. Fun overall.

We loved our stay here! The property is so special - the dome house and all the artwork are so cool and had a vibe that is unique and makes you feel like you stepped out of your everyday.
The property was clean and we were grateful it has AC since we happened to stay during a heat wave in the area!

For us, this property was perfect. It’s tucked away on a quiet hill with a great view. It’s a really interesting house, and it has several well planned outdoor areas. Don’t miss the book by the fireplace. It’s a fun read. Michael was very timely in responses to my questions. We would definitely come back.

We had a beautiful place to stay and it was very convenient to beaches and nearby towns. It was great to come back in the evenings and cook in this special home with a well-equipped kitchen.

A trip to celebrate my mother's birthday and Mother's day with my two sisters. Great space, comfortable indoor and outdoors. We spent a lot of time in front of the fire in the sunken living room.

The location was perfect, close enough to Pismo to enjoy all the coastal features and parks while being far enough away to feel like you were in the country (the roosters next door added to this feeling). Every room in the home has something unique to enjoy and experience and the size allows you to relax without feeling the need to go somewhere to get some room.
