About this cabin rental

When you enter the front door of this cozy, light filled log cabin, you know you've chosen the perfect location for your getaway in Lake Lure.

Chimney Lure Retreat is a beautifully furnished log cabin decorated in the mountain lodge style. The cozy cabin is located in a quiet area that is within 2-5 miles of most area attractions, including Chimney Rock State Park, boat tours and the beach at Lake Lure, the Flowering Bridge, zip lining, gem mining and several restaurants and fun food trucks.

The cabin has 2,000 square feet of living area, and our guests frequently tell us how much they appreciate having sleeping accommodations and a bath on each floor so everyone can have privacy.

The open plan main floor has a comfortable living/dining area with hardwood floors, leather sofas, a gas fireplace and a TV with Roku. The fully equipped kitchen has most everything you will need to prepare a meal, and we provide the first morning's coffee! The dining area has a glass door leading to the back deck with a Weber grill, outdoor dining furniture and beautiful mountain views. On the main floor is also a bedroom with a queen size log bed, a closet, a full bath with tub/shower combination and a laundry area.

Tucked away upstairs is the master suite with a king bed, private full bath with double sinks, and a large walk-in closet. Tucked among the eaves outside the master bedroom is a bright and airy sitting area with a comfy sofa and chair where you can relax and enjoy the views of Chimney Rock Mountain. There is also a desk and chair in the sitting area if you need to work while here. French doors lead to a covered balcony with a bistro table and chairs for morning coffee and a swing to relax.

The lower floor has a bedroom with queen bed, full bath, and a spacious game room with day bed and a pull-out trundle (like 2 twin beds). The game room has a TV with Roku, foosball table, table top ping pong, karaoke machine and games and puzzles. Teenagers especially enjoy having this area all to themselves. Off the game room is a kitchenette with sink. There is a door off the game room leading to the spacious back yard with firepit.

The spacious backyard has a large fire pit and several comfy chairs to gather round to socialize while roasting marshmallows or hot dogs. Deer and our resident turkey family frequent the backyard.

There is parking for 3-4 cars in the front circular driveway and there is a ramp leading up to the front door.

For outdoor enthusiasts, you can walk 1/4 mile to Rumbling Bald Mountain Access Trails where you can hike and see the rock climbers and splelunkers. While it is part of Chimney Rock State Park, there is no fee for this trail

NOTE: This home is located in a mountainous area, and we have occasional power outages. Also, while we provide the best Wi-Fi that is available in our area,
it can sometimes be slow if multiple devices are logged on at once. This is true for most homes located in the Lake Lure/Chimney Rock area. We cannot be held responsible for possible electrical power outages, or if the internet is not working or is too slow, as these are circumstances beyond our control, and no refunds will be given.

While we rarely have heavy snows, if you are coming to the mountains in winter or early spring, you must be prepared for the possibility of some ice and/or snow.

NOTE: Lake Lure will be undergoing a drawdown starting Jan 1, 2025 through March 15, 2025. The lake will begin to be lowered by approximately 1 foot per day on Jan 1, 2025 until 20 feet has been reached. Infrastructure maintenance, dredging and dock work will be expedited during this time frame. These efforts by the Town of Lake Lure may affect access to the lake and restrict any lake usage during this time frame. Refilling of the lake will begin on March 16, and will depend upon rainfall. During the drawdown, visitors will still be able to enjoy hiking, zip lining, gem mining, fishing in the Rocky Broad River, dining, shopping, and the beautiful mountain views that surround Lake Lure.

Clean, cozy. We were thrilled with this gem. Three senior couples had a great time. Private spaces for all of us and a great gathering in the kitchen/living area. Beautiful surroundings and a fun area to visit. We even saw a bear

Our family (3 adults & 3 kids) really enjoyed our stay at this lovely cabin. Everything was spotlessly clean, the kitchen contained all of the dishes and appliances we could need, and we all loved having multiple areas to spend time together as a family and have fun. The kids ended up declaring the basement to be their space, and they spent hours playing ping pong and foosball while we adults read or researched our next adventure. The entire area is extremely weak in Verizon cell coverage, but the cabin’s wi-fi worked great and was plenty for streaming on a Roku and reading online and making calls. This cabin is not situated on Lake Lure but in a pretty little neighborhood an easy few minutes drive from the picturesque flowering bridge and start of the lake. We would encourage families to check out Chimney Rock (though maybe not in the middle of summer - blazing hot!) and the Tryon Equestrian Center, especially their Saturday Night Lights program!

We had a great time at this house. It was a multi-generational home - parents on the top floor, grandma on the first floor, children in the basement. We all had our space. Beds were comfortable, home was super clean and had everything we needed to cook (when we wanted). We used the dining room table for puzzles and ate on the balcony. We saw lots of hummingbirds with our two balcony feeders. Property managers were SO helpful and we appreciated them!
