About this cabin rental
When you enter the front door of this cozy, light filled log cabin, you know you've chosen the perfect location for your getaway in Lake Lure.
Chimney Lure Retreat is a beautifully furnished log cabin decorated in the mountain lodge style. The cozy cabin is located in a quiet area that is within 2-5 miles of most area attractions, including Chimney Rock State Park, boat tours and the beach at Lake Lure, the Flowering Bridge, zip lining, gem mining and several restaurants and fun food trucks.
The cabin has 2,000 square feet of living area, and our guests frequently tell us how much they appreciate having sleeping accommodations and a bath on each floor so everyone can have privacy.
The open plan main floor has a comfortable living/dining area with hardwood floors, leather sofas, a gas fireplace and a TV with Roku. The fully equipped kitchen has most everything you will need to prepare a meal, and we provide the first morning's coffee! The dining area has a glass door leading to the back deck with a Weber grill, outdoor dining furniture and beautiful mountain views. On the main floor is also a bedroom with a queen size log bed, a closet, a full bath with tub/shower combination and a laundry area.
Tucked away upstairs is the master suite with a king bed, private full bath with double sinks, and a large walk-in closet. Tucked among the eaves outside the master bedroom is a bright and airy sitting area with a comfy sofa and chair where you can relax and enjoy the views of Chimney Rock Mountain. There is also a desk and chair in the sitting area if you need to work while here. French doors lead to a covered balcony with a bistro table and chairs for morning coffee and a swing to relax.
The lower floor has a bedroom with queen bed, full bath, and a spacious game room with day bed and a pull-out trundle (like 2 twin beds). The game room has a TV with Roku, foosball table, table top ping pong, karaoke machine and games and puzzles. Teenagers especially enjoy having this area all to themselves. Off the game room is a kitchenette with sink. There is a door off the game room leading to the spacious back yard with firepit.
The spacious backyard has a large fire pit and several comfy chairs to gather round to socialize while roasting marshmallows or hot dogs. Deer and our resident turkey family frequent the backyard.
There is parking for 3-4 cars in the front circular driveway and there is a ramp leading up to the front door.
For outdoor enthusiasts, you can walk 1/4 mile to Rumbling Bald Mountain Access Trails where you can hike and see the rock climbers and splelunkers. While it is part of Chimney Rock State Park, there is no fee for this trail
NOTE: This home is located in a mountainous area, and we have occasional power outages. Also, while we provide the best Wi-Fi that is available in our area,
it can sometimes be slow if multiple devices are logged on at once. This is true for most homes located in the Lake Lure/Chimney Rock area. We cannot be held responsible for possible electrical power outages, or if the internet is not working or is too slow, as these are circumstances beyond our control, and no refunds will be given.
While we rarely have heavy snows, if you are coming to the mountains in winter or early spring, you must be prepared for the possibility of some ice and/or snow.
NOTE: Lake Lure will be undergoing a drawdown starting Jan 1, 2025 through March 15, 2025. The lake will begin to be lowered by approximately 1 foot per day on Jan 1, 2025 until 20 feet has been reached. Infrastructure maintenance, dredging and dock work will be expedited during this time frame. These efforts by the Town of Lake Lure may affect access to the lake and restrict any lake usage during this time frame. Refilling of the lake will begin on March 16, and will depend upon rainfall. During the drawdown, visitors will still be able to enjoy hiking, zip lining, gem mining, fishing in the Rocky Broad River, dining, shopping, and the beautiful mountain views that surround Lake Lure.

Clean, cozy. We were thrilled with this gem. Three senior couples had a great time. Private spaces for all of us and a great gathering in the kitchen/living area. Beautiful surroundings and a fun area to visit. We even saw a bear

Our family (3 adults & 3 kids) really enjoyed our stay at this lovely cabin. Everything was spotlessly clean, the kitchen contained all of the dishes and appliances we could need, and we all loved having multiple areas to spend time together as a family and have fun. The kids ended up declaring the basement to be their space, and they spent hours playing ping pong and foosball while we adults read or researched our next adventure. The entire area is extremely weak in Verizon cell coverage, but the cabin’s wi-fi worked great and was plenty for streaming on a Roku and reading online and making calls. This cabin is not situated on Lake Lure but in a pretty little neighborhood an easy few minutes drive from the picturesque flowering bridge and start of the lake. We would encourage families to check out Chimney Rock (though maybe not in the middle of summer - blazing hot!) and the Tryon Equestrian Center, especially their Saturday Night Lights program!

We had a great time at this house. It was a multi-generational home - parents on the top floor, grandma on the first floor, children in the basement. We all had our space. Beds were comfortable, home was super clean and had everything we needed to cook (when we wanted). We used the dining room table for puzzles and ate on the balcony. We saw lots of hummingbirds with our two balcony feeders. Property managers were SO helpful and we appreciated them!

I rented three homes for a church group of 22 adults. This was the only home that left snacks and goodies and it was very much appreciated. We loved the coziness of the main floor, yet we had privacy for each couple as the bedrooms are spread out with one on each floor. The balconies have a beautiful view, and the back yard has a firepit. Unfortunately, Hurricane Ian prevented us from using the fire pit. The hosts were very kind and helpful. The ramp to get into the home was helpful as well.

Cabin exceeded expectations, floor plan and appears well cared for. We were happy with the location. Cabin was clean and fully stocked. Our kids ( 7 & 5 ) enjoyed the game room and the walk down the Lane to hiking trails was an awesome convenience. Would definitely stay again!

A mountain gem!
We had a lovely time at this well appointed mountain home.
* The house was immaculate
* The kitchen was extremely well provisioned
* Great linens, towels
* Location was great — felt like we had our privacy but also that we weren’t all alone in the woods. Easy/ short drive to area attractions
* Our young adult children stayed with us for 2 nights and the three levels of bedrooms worked nicely to give everyone space
Would highly recommend without any reservation

Wonderful Cabin and Area
We had a wonderful stay at this cabin. It was very nice, well stocked, and the property manager was very responsive to any questions we had. We had two families on our trip and we had plenty of space in the house. It’s a very quiet neighborhood with great views. The kids really enjoyed the game room area. The location is great. Lots to do including some great hiking and restaurants.

Spacious Retreat
My family (husband, 8-year-old son, 5-year-old daughter and I) met my parents for a relaxing retreat. The cabin was perfect for us. The three floors (each with its own bedroom/bath and sitting area) meant space to spread out. The kids LOVED the game room. The adults loved the balconies with a view of Chimney Rock. When we arrived, the cabin was sparkling clean and smelled fresh. The owner kindly provided all the essentials needed. We would definitely stay here again.

Comfortable home in lovely setting
Chimney Lure Retreat was ideal for our family (2 couples and 1 single adult). As others have mentioned, having a bedroom/bath combo on each floor gave everyone privacy, while having nice common space (indoor and out) to gather as a group. The cabin is well-stocked and very clean. Furniture and beds are comfortable and recent reconfiguration of beds (king now in master upstairs) was perfect for us. Great proximity to Chimney Rock and Lure Lake for hiking and other outdoor activities. Recommend without reservation.

We had a lovely time in Lake Lure. We had 3 generations of family together. We hiked, biked, swam and played lots of games during some rainy days. The house was very comfortable for us.

Neat Retreat!
Chimney Lure Retreat is just what our family needed to relax and renew. Great setup for our three generations. Parents upstairs, Grandma on the main floor, Kids in the Game Room/Basement. Lots of laughs and good memories made between the firepit, poker at the dining room table, coffee on the porch, and relaxing in the living room. Access to great hiking trails for all ages nearby was a definite plus.

Wonderful Cabin
We loved our stay at this cabin. It was incredibly clean, everything you need in a kitchen to prepare your meals, amazing views of Chimney Rock State Park, and a short walk to hiking trails. The super comfy chairs around the fire pit made a for a lovely evening around the fire. Beds were very comfortable, too. All in all, the cabin exceeded our expectations and we hope to return again in the future!

Spectacular View
We loved the location of this property, which was close to the activities we wanted to do and on a rainy day the game room was perfect. The 3 levels of the house made it nice for our college students to spread out for their online classes.

Valentine Getaway
This property couldn’t have been more perfect for 3 couples to getaway on Valentine’s weekend. The gas logs were awesome! Impressed that renters are allowed to use them because this is not the norm— so appreciated. The layout of the house provided the perfect amount of privacy when needed and great common areas for us to enjoy movies, games and relaxation. The home was extremely clean, provided the right amount of linens and kitchen had appropriate cookware, etc. It rained our entire weekend but no worries we were close enough to local antique shops to go mess around. We will definitely be back for another couple weekend as well as bring our families in the spring/summer.

Weekend at Lake Lure
With school online and working at a hospital we all needed a change of scenery. My parents were celebrating their 49th wedding anniversary so we chose this location to be able to social distance from others and still have proximity to the Biltmore. It was perfect. The basement was perfect for my teenagers to hang out. We enjoyed the fire pit and took walks. The decks are fantastic and the view of Chimney Rock is cool. We had a terrific weekend and hope to come back and hike Rumbling Bald. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Some friends and I visited the cabin for a quick weekend getaway. The house was in a quiet neighborhood with friendly neighbors. Our group thoroughly enjoyed ourselves while playing foosball, singing karaoke, and hanging out by the fire pit.

Chimney Lure cabin was cozy and comfortable
This Cabin is quite nice with 3 bedrooms and 3 baths on 3 levels. This arrangement allows lots of “private” space for everyone. The bedroom on the first floor had the king bed. The room is quite small but we made it work. The adjoining bathroom had the modern elevated toilet which was quite helpful. The master bedroom was on the second floor with dual sinks in the adjoining bath but only a queen bed. The bedroom on the lower level with another queen bed was windowless which made it super dark during an extended power outage. Thank goodness we had enough flashlights for all adults to have one during the outage because the cabin only had one. The kitchen was fairly well equipped except for large pots and every thing was basically clean. The leather furniture in the family room was very comfortable and in great shape. This room also had a grandfather clock which chimed beautifully and kept great time. A super nice touch! The fire pit outside was super nice and was enjoyed by all. The only real negative was the TV which was very difficult to figure out by the “technically challenged” senior adults, but the three young adults who arrived later got it to work with no problem. As mentioned, we did experience a power outage that lasted over 29 hours. Power outages apparently happen often in the mountains but this one was unusual because the Lake Lure substation was seriously affected. A generator for the cabin would have been very helpful, because this an all electric home including an electric well water pump. Our son filled up an empty cooler with water from a local stream and used a bucket to filled the toilet tanks so we could flush during the outage. This process actually allowed us to stay at the cabin and wait out the outage. The moral of the story is bring flashlights and a bucket! In summary, this is a great little cabin in the woods......we do hope you enjoying like we did!

Beautiful cabin and location
Cabin was beautiful and in a great location with easy access to both Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. Having a couple of separate living suites worked out great for the 4 of us. Kitchen was fully equipped and had great outside areas with a couple of decks and a nice fire pit. The one minor drawback was that you need to be well versed in streaming services as there was no cable or Direct TV.
Would definitely stay there again. Thanks for your hospitality

Vacation
Was a beautiful home in a great location. Very quiet.
Would recommend putting a hasp/lock on outdoor garbage can. A bear lifted the heavy lid, took inside lid off and tore through the trash we put out on Saturday night.
A ceiling fan on the porches would be nice, especially during hotter months.
We did not put the covers on outdoor chairs because they were so wet from overnight rain.😔

clean and private
Loved the 3 levels for separation of groups....the basement was wonderful for teens and tweens. Unlike many other properties, getting in/out of the house is on flat ground and the drive up isn't as harrowing as most. comfortable beds, dark rooms, great A/C and stocked kitchen. Great house for the week.
