- Like most Tahoe homes, we do not have air conditioning
- During winter months 4wd or chains are recommended to access the home.
- Outdoor furniture (including the BBQ) may not be available in the winter months (November - May).
- Firewood is not provided.
- Propane is not provided for the outdoor firepit.
- Due to unforeseen and uncontrollable circumstances, heavy snow falls and smoke associated with wildfires, we highly recommend purchasing Travel Insurance to cover your cancellation, as we will not be able to offer a full refund outside the cancellation window.
- Please note that the decks are available seasonally and may be closed during the winter months due to snow and safety precautions.
One lesson we've learned about the great outdoors is the frequent requirement to wipe down the deck furniture. Despite our efforts to maintain the utmost cleanliness for your convenience, it seems that nature is working against us. You may need to wipe down the outdoor table, chairs, and any other outdoor seating. The dust and pollen accumulates within a matter of hours.

Great!

Property was as described and in good order. Even the hot tub and sauna worked :) Great location and close proximity to Northstar and Mt. Rose skiing. Communication was easy and accurate. Our host graciously allowed us some additional time at check out due to a snow storm the day before.

We rented place to go on our boat but a storm ruined those plans so we had to make due just hanging around the house. We were able to play bocce ball, go on hikes right up the street with views of the lake, go in hot tub, go in sauna and watch movies. I’m glad the house had so much to offer since I had kids that were bummed due to rain all weekend. Great kids cave on lower level for them to hang.

The property is in a quiet neighborhood and on paper it looks like a perfect summer retreat for a family vacation. However upon arrival we found the hot tub to be half full, green and it stunk of sewage. The owner said that if his hot tub serviceman could not come he would not call another. I actually spoke with the hot tub serviceman who told me that the owner called him 2 days prior to our arrival to schedule a cleaning but he declined the job as he was too busy. We could not get the sauna to heat up despite following the instructions in the home's binder precisely. The home felt dusty as though no one had occupied it in months (as evidenced by dead moths and spider webs in the bathrooms). On the plus side everything in the kitchen worked, the house is very spacious, and the bocce ball court and fire pits were a lot of fun.

This was a beautiful location! The house was really nice! It had everything we needed! The beds were comfortable, and there was room for everyone. The host was very easy to work with. He was great! Would totally go back here!

Great base for our family vacation!

We chose this house for our family vacation. There was plenty of room for us all to be comfortable. 6 adults, 2 kids,a toddler & an infant. Beds with down duvets were great! Little did we know that it was going to be the snow storm of 2023! Roads were closed to get to the house. We arrived a day late. Although, one of our sons with 2 kids were able to get there on night 1.
We found that the house had almost everything we needed. Nice quiet neighborhood. A great slope for sledding next to the house. Grocery store close by. Where we could buy firewood for the beautiful fireplace. The house is in need of a little maintenance. I let the host know of the few concerns. He was always quick to respond to us. By day 3, we were “snowed in” and luckily the host was able to let us stay until we were safe to leave. Roads & driveway were plowed as needed. Washer & dryer were a plus.
The house provided a great place to stay and we enjoyed it.

The home accommodated all our needs & fun. A bed for everyone, a nice fire place, a large dinning table to have all our family eat together & the kitchen had everything we needed. The owner was great. The day we were going to travel it was snowing a lot & he allowed us to adjust our stay by a day so we didn't have to travel in all that snow falling. Overall it was a great experience. Thank you

Like everything about the house. The area is great as well. We had a great time!

Some things about the house are a bit dated. There were some issues with cleanliness. We brought this to Michael’s attention and he promptly responded and refunded us our cleaning fee.

Nice place just need some updates

Overall experience was good. Property has a lot of great amenities. However, carpet was very dirty.
4.5
Very lovely, quiet neighborhood about 7-10 minute drive from the shore, shops and groceries. Lovely view of the forest and a short walk to views of the lake.
The home was accommodating for the 8 people we had during our stay.
4.5
This house was perfect for our family. It had plenty of space for everyone to spread out and there were a lot of activities on the property for the days we didn’t want to venture out. It was perfect for a family vacation!
4.5
House was nice size and convenient to nearby Kings Beach, grocery store, Truckee and other nearby beaches. However the house was listed with 8 beds and only 7 were in the house. Neighbor dogs were everywhere and kept coming into our house if door was open or on our patio causing problems for our dog. House was a little outdated with carpet and furnishings. Some parts felt grimy.

Home is well kept and in very convenient location.

We walked in and noticed the kitchen was not clean. Meat/chicken drippings in drawer in fridge and all shelves in fridge were a dirty, sticky mess.
There was food partials still in sink. Stove was a slimy sticky mess.
Counter tops and dining table had crumbs all over it.
Carpets were not vacuumed and floors still had crumbs all over it.
Hot tub was very cloudy and dirty. Sheets had stains.
I have pictures to prove all of this!!
DO NOT LET PICTURE OF HOUSE FOOL YOU!!!

We enjoyed our stay here in Tahoe Vista. We were 4 adults and 4 kids under age 8. Good space for all of us and it was a great house for kids - there's an extra room with beds and a TV for them to hang out in. Not a lot of kids games or activities so be sure to bring them. The location was good. Quiet neighborhood and nice neighbors- but leave early if you're going to ski, traffic can get bad! Michael was very responsive during our stay when we had some questions. We were disappointed that the hot tub was not working and with the storm and covid, he couldn't get anyone out to fix it. He did refund a small amount for the inconvenience. The microwave didn't work in the kitchen and there could be more spices - bring basics if you need them to cook! Otherwise pretty stocked. Overall, we had a nice stay here and would recommend to others.

We had a great stay in the winter. Nice to hang out at the house and great day trips around the area. Have t tub was nice. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen small but fine. We would definitely stay again .

We (9 family members), spend xmas vacation and unfortunately, we were there during a big snowstorm. Because of that we experienced a 9-hr. power outage-but pulled together and made it as positive as possible. We had to shovel many times daily, but then found out there was a snowplow service for the driveway (thank goodness), but still needed to shovel. We left a day early, trying to beat the storm home, only to get caught in it and had to get hotels in South Tahoe due to road closure (all hotels gauged us with the prices). The microwave broke, then told there was another one in one of the rooms. The house was very large with great accommodations. Overall, we had a good time, it was not Vrbo's fault the weather was so challenging. But it would have been nice to have been offered a reimbursed for the one day we left early. Especially given the 2 days it took to get home. Plus 7 hrs. stuck on the road in no movement traffic, due to road closures...won't do it again in predicted snow storms.

The owner and the neighbor were very helpful and kind. The home is clean and maintained. There are plenty pots, pans, and bowls to cook with. All the appliances in the kitchen, living room, and bedroom all worked. The sauna was a nice benefit. Too bad we couldn't get the heater to work on the spa. The house has plenty of sleep space. The beds are very comfortable. I think if this is going to be a rental maybe pull the carpet out and spray for spiders. We enjoyed staying here and will do it again. The owner and neighbor went above and beyond for us. You won't be disappointed in this home and you just might be lucky to meet Jack who is a lab mix and very friendly.

Had a great time with friends, really nice cabin, very clean and had a lot of features which made for a great trip! The location was amazing!

We enjoyed a bear visiting our cabin!!

The owner is a nice man and is quick to respond. We’ve enjoyed staying in his home as a family 3 different times.

We really enjoyed our stay at Michael’s house in Tahoe Vista. We didn’t quite realize from looking at the map that the home is just above the level of the lake a short drive up the hill from King’s Beach. We actually really liked being out of the traffic and congestion on the roads directly around the lake. We felt like part of the local community in the neighborhood, very quiet street and very friendly neighbors. We also got lots of use on the decks, hot tub and bocce ball court.
4.5
Nice ski cabin/house. Didn’t have time to try out the hot tub or sauna, but enjoyed the decks, sitting out in the back with trees all around, watching the fun at the bocce ball court
4.5
This was the perfect vacation home! Such a beautiful location and close to Kings Beach. The house was clean. We loved the bocce ball court- a perfect family activity. This was the perfect get away spot!

This home was absolutely great! Only 1 thing to keep in mind for those thinking of renting... there are a lot of stairs. It was a little rough for the older people and our Corgie with arthritis. We found way to avoid stairs (thank goodness for the younger people with us. :) LOL

First, I need to address the fact, that I CANNOT review the house itself, because my wife and I, and 2-children under 6 never stayed one night (because of the disgusting manner the house was in)
We first noticed the kitchen to have been maybe, half cleaned. There were crumbs everywhere; all over the counter tops. We needed to wipe finger-prints and a “sticky” residue off the countertops, microwave and stove (almost left over food residue)
As we went deeper and deeper into the house, (EG), the bathrooms, it became clear to us that this rental house had not been cleaned (even though the owner, Michael Drew said via text message, “Interesting, I was there on Tuesday, and the house looked perfect to me.” And, okay, I guess “perfect” can be taken out of context, but when my wife is wiping pee and poop marks, and stains from the toilets, something isnt adding up. I worked my way over the bathtub and noticed several pubic-hairs laying in the tub, when and where I decided to video the mess. After I text messaged the owner, Micheal Drew the video of the bathtub, his response was… “I know none of this to be true since I was there on Tuesday”
When and where we thought it could not get any worse, it did when our 6-year son yelled out, “MOM.” My wife heads to the “Bunkbed Room,” and then yells my name, “Daniel;” come here… I enter the “Bunkbed Room” and to my ABSOLUTE shock, a pair of “Dirty” women’s underwear (I was absolutely Disgusted!) - Pics of this as well were text messaged to the owner, Michael Drew, with the response, “Sorry, not true”
After this incident, I was lost for words. Once again, I text messaged the owner, Michael Drew, with little to no help, and or response. He became belligerently defensive. I asked if the linens had been cleaned, given we just found “Dirty” women’s underwear in the bed. Till this day, he has never confirmed that the linens had been cleaned
Given the fact we just got out of a Global Pandemic, there was no chance I was having my wife and two young children sleep in this house. We packed up our items and videoed out exit & left
Since then, I have been in contact with VRBO (who are pretty much worthless) and the owner is an absolute child to speak with over text message and (still refuses to have an adult phone conversation)
I am offering up my personal email address here, so anyone can write me about this review, proof to see the pictures, and or text messages or video: [email protected]
