The carriage house was exactly as described, but the setting in fields and hills could not be captured in photos -- beautiful and changing with time and light. Andrew was the official host, who was very helpful in advance, but his mother, living across the road, was the on-site host and couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. The location was ideal: quiet and scenic, but a 7-minute drive to Woodstock village. But don't bring your Lamborghini -- the dirt road is rough!

What a wonderful experience we had this past weekend staying at this quaint carriage house. It was everything we needed to spend a quick ski trip with our son. The morning views were serene and relaxing. Just what we wanted to get from visiting VT. The town of Woodstock was quintessential New England. Andrew was responsive to our questions. Margarete was a sweetheart and there to greet us and show us around the house. We will be back in the future.

This two-bedroom cottage nestled above Woodstock is perfection. After the owner and her daughter gave us a tour and left, my eighteen-year-old son turned to me and pronounced that, at last, he had found the perfect, cozy-yet-modernized house. "Whatever this style is called....THIS is what I want my house to look like," he gushed.
My son and I went to Vermont for a retreat over his winter break, and we enjoyed two worlds while staying in this house: the bustling, small-town world of Woodstock proper and the peaceful, sanctuary experience of nature that this cottage offers.
Although I am back in Philadelphia now, just thinking about the view from the living room window lowers my blood pressure.
The owner, Margarete, and her daughter were lovely, thoughtful, gracious souls. Thank you.

The carriage house was the perfect place for our family to wind down 2023. The location provides easy access to skiing, hiking, and Woodstock attractions and the house is very comfortable. The views are incredible! We loved meeting Margarete and Alice, and hope to be able to visit again soon.

This property is so close to Woodstock but tranquil and rural. The carriage house feels cozy and private. Hosts are absolutely delightful and flexible.

The carriage house is perfect! My husband, our dog, and I spent a long weekend at this beautiful property and were so charmed. It's a 5 minute drive to downtown Woodstock, and the property itself has stunning and calming views! Margarete and her sweet puppy Alice were so kind. It was the perfect weekend!

All we can say is we experienced "Vermont vacation perfection". All of the previous reviews about the property, the setting, the views, the town are all "spot on". Margarete and her dog, Alice, greeted us on our arrival and were so welcoming and fun to talk with. The Carriage House was very clean and comfortable and the views from the windows and deck are post-card worthy. It was hard to leave at the end of the week and we plan to visit again as soon as our schedule allows. Thank you Margarete!

The Carriage House and host were both warm and inviting. We could not have asked for a more beautiful view to enjoy our Thanksgiving holiday. We highly recommend this property for a true Vermont experience.

Enjoyed our stay with friends in this two bedroom, one bath cottage house located on a beautiful property on a beautiful street! Saw so many stars on clear nights and cows in distance in the morning. Lovely!

The Carriage House near Woodstock, VT was a wonderful experience. Everything about the house was exceptional. Not only was it located in such a beautiful area of Vermont, but the hostess and neighbors were very friendly and welcoming as well.

A wonderful retreat feel being up in the mountains overlooking the property and hills. Spacious and a little bit rustic, but with all the conveniences to make for an easy stay. Easy access to downtown Woodstock, but far enough away to get out of the fray.

Everything about our stay exceeded expectations! The property was clean, had all the amenities we needed and very comfortable….which was expected! However, the responsiveness and friendliness of Andrew , the views, the location, and the lane, which was perfect for dog walking, running and lazy summer walks, put our stay over the top. Even the neighbors, cows, neighboring dogs and donkeys were friendly!!! The owners were so welcoming and opened up the beautiful farm and views to us. The proximity to Woodstock and Queschee was perfect while providing a wonderful Vermont experience. Finally, morning coffee and evening beverages on the deck overlooking the valley…. Perfection!! If we could give the property 10 stars we would!!

Not sure where to begin. The owner, Margarete was delightful. She is an avid gardener and the fruits of her labor are everywhere. She was generous with her time and willingness for us to enjoy the gardens, her enthusiastic dog Alice and the bovine/cow friends who hung out at the fence.
There was wonderful hiking and views on the property and nearby. The carriage house is adorable, sparkling clean and had everything we would need (except spices-we like to cook and next time will bring these with us). We were only there 4 nights so enjoyed some of the nearby restaurants. Woodstock is a quaint town with some terrific shopping. Look forward to visiting again.

We had an amazing time wandering around with our toddler and chatting with the owner about gardening. Very special place.

My husband and I stayed in the Carriage House for a week over Thanksgiving. We were looking for a peaceful escape from NYC and could not have been happier with the Carriage House. The house is quite lovely and even nicer than the photos. Also, to say that this property was immaculate would be an understatement. Each morning we would look out our windows over the open fields to the most gorgeous view of the Green Mountains of Vermont. We needed to pinch ourselves that we were really in this prime location. Most days we hiked nearby - Mt. Tom, Mt. Peg, Pogue Loop etc. but sometimes we just wandered the property and enjoyed the openness of it all. Our dog, Tula, was absolutely in heaven on this trip. Not only could she run around the fields to her heart's content but she also engaged in many energetic playdates with Margarete's dog, Alice. We both had very tired dogs after those sessions. This property is a gem. I love Vermont but will only stay here if I can stay in the Carriage House. Anything else will pale by comparison.

My partner and I very much enjoyed our stay at the carriage house. The views and open open space are wonderful and it’s very close to Woodstock. The house is very comfortable and charming. Excellent!

Great experience - nothing but good things to say. Right from the beginning Andrew was flexible and great at responding to questions. When we arrived the place was spotless and quaint. The property is amazing and the location is ideal. All the reviews are spot on - Margarite (the owner who lives across the street) is gracious and welcoming, the area is packed with beauty and great hikes. We truly enjoyed our stay and look forward to going back!

My wife and I just returned from the perfect weekend getaway. We enjoyed some of Vermont's finest - Killington is less than 30 minutes away, Woodstock's fine shopping and dining is a short drive down a picturesque country road, and neighboring farms openly offer homemade maple syrup in addition to the traditional country fare. Needless to say, the setting is true Vermont!
Margarete's property is equally remarkable. The spacious two bedroom carriage house is an ideal "home away from home" to enjoy cooking and eating while taking in the breathtaking countryside. Margarete's hospitality is genuine and a true reflection of her pride in ownership. Most certainly, we recommend her place as the authentic Vermont vacation.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Carriage house immensely! It is very well cared for by a fantastic lady. It has a balcony overlooking fields and mountains. In fact its location is perfect for those who want to get away from it all and view the autumn leaves. The owner, Margarete, made our trip special by being a wonderful host and allowing us to explore the forest located on her property. I recommend it without reservation! Pat and Pat
