This was our first time staying at Campfire Cabins and we won’t stay anywhere else for future Black Hills trips. The cabin was perfect for our family of four and was reasonably close to everything we did during our stay, from Wonderland Cave near Strugis to Custer State Park to Bear Country by Keyatone. The cabin hosts thought of everything we needed at the cabin, especially in the kitchenette. Very happy with our experience. Thank you!

We rode our motorcycles from New Mexico to experience the Black Hills during the annual Sturgis rally. This location is perfect and centrally located for exploring all of the routes and loops without being in town. Kitchen was perfect for cooking dinners and well stocked with the basics. Lots of other great touches - snacks, toiletries, etc. Clean, quiet and loved watching the goats, chickens, ducks, turkeys, rabbits and more. Don’t let the construction scare you away - wonderful hosts and we highly recommend.

The cabin was perfect for our family of 4 (just make sure the stairs to the loft work for you)! The property is wonderful, and so many fun surprises. We would absolutely stay here again.

What an amazing experience we had during our stay! Even with the road construction and closure, we were able to experience the area in a whole new light! But no matter what adventure we were going on, what hike or lake we were by, my 8 year old would only ask “when are we going back to the cabin?!” … the homey feeling the cabin provided plus the joy of the animals outside made it her favorite thing about our trip! Thank you for such a wonderful trip!

My husband and I, and our two children, loved this property and cabin! It's a quiet location in the country of the Black Hills, and very peaceful. There were goats the kids could pet as well as a few cats. They had fun trying to catch the pet bunnies but never succeeded! We wish we would have had more time here! The cabin was very clean and cozy, and the kitchen was very well stocked with supplies. Would highly recommend this property for anyone that doesn't want to stay in town and wants the peace and serenity that this location has to offer.

By far the best VRBO we have stayed at. Everything was perfect. The cabin is centrally located, quiet, and cozy. Sarah was very attentive and helpful. 3 days in South Dakota wasn’t long enough. The best sleep I’ve had in years. If I could give 10/10 I would.

We stopped at campfire cabins for 2nt stay for a visit to Mount Rushmore on our way to the southwest from Chicago. This has been 1 of our main highlights. Starting with checkin, it was a breeze. We checked in late and but sarah messaged us with the door code and we had no issues getting in. The loft was so fun for our kids (6 & 9 yrs old). They had everything you need for toiletries, dvds, condiments, coffee needs and more. They even had fresh farm eggs from their chickens! The beds were comfy and all rooms were temperature controlled. Al gave us a tour around his garden and even let our kids feed their baby cows. Afterward they started a fire and offered everyone s’mores. We had a such a fun time getting to know Al and Sara. Their whole family was super friendly and welcoming. This place was so good that my son woke up in the middle of the night to tell us “Sorry to wake you but I just wanted to tell you that I just love this place so much.” The location was great. Only 30min from Mt Rushmore and the fun things to do there. There were also so many trails within a short driving distance. The views from the cabin were beautiful. We will definitely be staying here again!

Super easy going and friendly, i would not have guessed or assumed all the littel thing they supplied for us. Farm fresh eggs, the books, the dvd's. With out a dough the extra mile was gone by the owners. They should be very proud of cabins and it shows.

Cabin’s highlight were the stairs inside! It was a cozy cabin with kitchen with pots/pans and coffee with creamer.
Bathrooms were clean, but if a fly comes in the cabin when door is open as it would in the woods can be a bit of annoyance at times!
The hosts were great, bonus of farm fresh eggs! Extra towels and cozy beds on the second floor was comfortable! Wi-Fi connectivity was consistent. Stores for fresh groceries can be bought at Rapid City, near by Hill City grocery stores didn’t offer much selection. Overall cabin was clean, comfortable and cozy, would highly recommend this place!

Great stay at the cabin
We had a wonderful stay at the cabin. It is clean, well stocked, and tastefully decorated. We enjoyed star gazing at night and getting up in the morning to see which of the farm animals would be grazing in the yard. It is located fairly close to to the various attractions of the Black Hills area. We would absolutely stay again.

Charming Cabin in the Woods
The cabin was charming. and delightful. It was close to all the major tourist spots and the surrounding area. Via the 385 highway we were able to connect to the 16 and 44 highways which would take us to any of our destinations. In addition, the fire pit at sunset gave way to suggested visiting spots like the sugar shack and Mexico Tipico. Overall, we were extremely pleased with our stay.

Can’t say enough good things about this place!
From the moment we arrived, we loved this place. The cabins are efficient and sparkling clean, and we woke to lovely views of green pastures flanked by pine ridges. Our two daughters (age 9 and 11) loved having the loft to themselves. We enjoyed sipping coffee and easing into the morning from our cabin porch. The cows were indeed super friendly; they mozied right over to my daughters, much to their delight. Location was great for our visits to Rushmore, Rapid City, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park. And Sarah was super responsive to all of our questions and requests. If we’re lucky, we’ll be back…we’d love to stay here again!

Like visiting family but better!
The cabin exceeded our expectations! They are larger than you expect and provide everything you need and more. When we arrived kids from the cabins were playing and other guests and the owners were visiting around the campfire. They gave the kids a tour of the farm and let them pet the animals. The cabins are only 30 min from Mt Rushmore and 1 hour drive to Wind Cave. 20 min from Hill City and 5 min from beautiful large lakes. We loved to do family activities during the day and return to the cabins for dinner and hear about the other travels adventures around the campfire.
