The Space:
Nestled in the 500-year-old historic Spanish colonial city of Old San Juan, Villa Azulejo is the ideal basecamp to explore Old San Juan history, restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. You will love people watching from the comfort of this 2 bedroom apartment that has spectacular double doors that open to the sidewalk of San Jose Street. The location is ideal for those looking to be close to the action in Old San Juan, located less than a block from the busy nightlife and restaurants of Calle San Sebastian and a short walk from El Morro Spanish fort. It is also just a few steps from the Old San Juan Cathedral. The apartment sleeps six adults, has one queen bed, two full beds, a four-person dining table, an updated and fully stocked kitchen, and a living room with flat-screen TV and WIFI.
It is important to mention that this is a ground-level unit with wooden windows and doors overlooking the street - guests will hear street noise at night and that is part of the charm!

All this with the spectacular double doors that you can completely open to the street or leave closed with windows to let sunlight in. The villa has air conditioning and WIFI. The layout makes very efficient use of space and the cathedral ceilings make the area feel much larger. It is important to mention that the loft is street level, so you will hear the street noise typical of urban locations. There is one full bathroom with a standing shower. Bath and beach towels are included.
SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS
The master bedroom is appointed with a queen bed that is outfitted with fresh linens for each stay. The second bedroom has a bunk bed with two full beds. This apartment has a maximum occupancy of 6 guests. There is a ceiling fan and air conditioning.

LOCATION
Staying in Old San Juan is a truly unique experience filled with charm and character. From Villa Azulejo you can comfortably walk anywhere within Old San Juan. We recommend taking a cab from the airport and using Uber or taxi while you stay at Old San Juan. Renting a car is not necessary unless you are planning on road tripping. This is a truly walkable location with everything you need a short walk away. The apartment does not include parking. Nonetheless, there are convenient parking lots close to the apartment.
There are many things to do in the surrounding areas, here are some of our favorites, all within walking distance:
Explore the El Morro Fort. There are daily tours of the fort and the large green areas have spectacular ocean views. Take a tour, have a picnic, and fly a kite. This is a must-do.
Explore the iconic Calle San Sebastian nightlife. There is a large assortment of bars on this strip which is a favorite among locals on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
Breakfast at “La Bombonera”. This is a Puerto Rican landmark well known for its locally inspired breakfast and pastries.
Savor Stuffed Avocado. Healthy and "trendy" spot where you can create your own avocado bowl.
Take a stroll around “Paseo La Princesa”, a waterfront walkway which you can start off at El Morro and finish of the walk with a rum tasting at Princesa Gastrobar at the end of the trail.

This property is seated on one of the most well known streets in Old Town. The Villa sits perfectly between a bar district and town square with a pharmacy, grocery market and plenty of dining options. Some of the best tourist stops are walking distance from the Villa Azulejo. The property was thoroughly cleaned and had fresh linen. The kitchen was properly stocked with plenty of cooking material making it easy to save $ during our trip by cooking for the kids, rather than dining out every meal. This location was perfect for saturating our children in a new culture and settling them in comfort, to embrace new surroundings, outside of their American mainland bubble.

It was our first time to San Juan and we wanted an Old Town location. This home was perfect, well placed, spacious, and they thought of everything; Beach towels and chairs, chargers, even ear plugs ( as this is next to the most happening street in the City). Agatha was a responsive host, we felt welcome and the the set up made us feel secure. Everyone enjoy our stay and others who saw it were jealous. We recommend Villa Azulejo

This is a beautiful apartment. High ceilings and decorated with class and style. Located in the heart of Old Town, close to shops and fun restaurants. It has everything you need. It was perfect for us! Agatha was great. Very responsive!
4.7
The location was ideal in Old San Juan; very clean, we emailed about an extra blanket, request was handled immediately. Highly recommend a stay here. I would definitely stay there again.
4.7
Space did not have a table with 4 chairs or a toaster as se saw in the picture. Very loud at night due to bar across the street. Police came to break up bar issues. Ice maker did not make ice. Only 1 hook for towels for a family of 4. Wish we had earplugs for both rooms. Found some the last day in a drawer. We would not stay again.
4.7
We walked to everything and loved this location. Good size to accommodate our family of 5.
4.7
Very clean, nice, and great location.
4.7
Historic property right in the center of Old San Juan. Walkable location near Cathedral, night life and several restaurants. Clean space with nice air conditioning. There is a lot of outside noise due to the convenient location and historical building. Bring earplugs and you’ll be fine! It was fun staying in the city center.
4.7
Wonderful place to stay. Comfortably fit a family of 5. Located within walking distance to everything. Would definitely stay here again.

This is the perfect place for those looking for a place to crash in a good location with, maybe 2ppl. The furniture set-up isn’t conducive for more than that. The person “assigned” to us from West Indies wasn’t responsive at all with the a/c that didn’t work and had an error code on it. The street noise that everyone talks about in these reviews is intense. I can hear every single conversation and every car radio of those that drove or walked by. It was like they were in the room with us. The beds were comfortable and the location was good but those are the only two positives from this experience. I wouldn’t rent from West Indies again and wouldn’t rent here again. It’s a crash pad, at best. Not at all worth the money.
4.7
The apartment was very clean and well stocked with things like cleaning supplies, coffee, tea etc. We felt very safe and secure there in downtown Old San Juan with a locked gate for the building and another lock for the apartment itself. The location was perfect with a coffee and pastry shop right around the corner in the Plaza de Armas.
4.7
The location of this property is perfect for exploring Old San Juan. We enjoyed it very much. The bedrooms & bathroom are fine but the common space is uncomfortable & awkward if you want a place for more than 2 people to congregate.
4.7
Great stay, clean , excellent location, in center. Cons: very noisy no one sleeps in old San Juan on a Saturday
4.7
The property was fantastic. Walking distance to everything we wanted to see. Only downside street noise was incredibly loud, made it hard to sleep.
4.7
This was exactly the vacation we needed! Perfect location! It was a little loud at night, but I felt rested every day, so I’ll take it! It was a beautiful historic apartment, and we made memories for a lifetime! Thank you so much!

Great property and excellent location in Old San Juan with some much in walking distance!! Check in process was very smooth!!

This place is all that you need for a stay in the Historic San Juan. It is Beautiful and Cozy!

Beautiful location in the heart of the city 🤩🤩
This apartment was very beautiful, clean and security/key code direction was very self explanatory. Joselyn was an awesome host and made sure we were comfortable. She also went the extra mile to return an item that was left 🤗🙌🏽!

Amazing location, but within the first day we'd killed 4 cockroaches in the bathroom.

Not only was the property beautiful, clean and perfectly located in the center of old San Juan (literally) but management thought of everything.
There are so many creature comforts that I cannot list them all but one example is they had ear plugs... yes, ear plugs. You are in the center of a beautiful and vibrant city with an amazing night life which means... after a long day of exploring the island you may want to sleep but the many bars in the city are still jumping so to get some shut eye you plug your ears and drift off to lala land.
Management was extremely responsive. We hit a small snag with an AC and within an hour the handman was there, he couldn't fix it so within two hours the repairmen were there.
Jaqueline was responsive, kind and caring. She kept me informed of the process then called to check in.
The entire experience was excellent. There were 6 of us and we stayed a week. We all rate the villa azueljo highly!
4.7
We enjoyed our stay! The security of the entrance gate was nice. Linen and towels were clean and comfortable. Bunk bed is metal so all movements audible. No linens for living room couch. Bathroom was very clean and the shower was spacious enough for 2. The Fortresses are breathtaking. $10 entry 2 day pass to both fortresses. Currently the tunnels are closed due to Covid.
Suggestions:
As described, you will have street walkers and night life (all night). I recommend this villa for those looking to participate in the night-time culture. Note, there is another villa directly attached to same level. Walls are very thin and if they have the 1st level patio door open - you essentially are sharing a space to your 2nd bedroom. Unfortunately, it was our shared neighbors that keep us up every night (all night) and did not follow the rental quiet-time policy. My husband had to help them twice because they kept locking themselves inside (that's right - inside) their own villa (once was at 3am) and they pounded on our shared window. I believe it's overseen by the same property management company, although not certain, so perhaps this can be improved on.
Would suggest changing to an automatic gate lock vs key for ease.
Kitchen was fairly equipped but you'll want to take advantage of eating out at the many restaurants. Tiny 2 cup coffee cup maker. Grocery and pharmacy stores are on the same block around the corner.
If only staying a few days in Old San Juan hold-off on a car rental. It ranges from $27-34 per day.
Heavy police presence for tourism safety and everyone is very Covid cautious.
Amenities: No beach towels as described but there was a few umbrellas, coolers, and camping chairs.

Location was perfect!!
We enjoyed staying at this apartment for 5days. I think the location was the best part of this property.
We heard some noise at night after curfew but we know that it will be some street noise before we booked this place. We had a car and parked at the nearby garage and it was about 3-4minutes walking distance but we used Uber a lot because it’s a kind of hassle to drive around Old San Juan.
There are so many great restaurants and markets within a couple minutes walking so if you are just visiting San Juan area I don’t think you need a car.
They Room was clean and instructions were good but we had a slow speed of internet issues. We work with computers while we are traveling so that was a problem for us.
Overall we enjoyed the apartment and atmosphere around the property. We also had great experience staying here.
P. S .This apartment doesn’t have laundromat but there was a good laundry place only a couple blocks away. They can wash and fold for you and you can receive them same day and it was quite reasonable.

I liked that it was in a historic location I loved the area only thing I didn’t like about the apartment is there wasn’t enough tissue otherwise great location great time.

Viejo San Juan
An amazing stay at such a beautiful home. The windows really made us feel like we were part of the city. The apartment was very clean and comfortable. Wish we had more days to stay in Viejo San Juan and enjoy the city more.
4.7
The apartment was exactly as described and our stay there went smoothly and happily. It is in an ideal location, an easy walk to the main sites, restaurants, and nitelife. The ceiling fan and AC in the main room were a bit tricky to operate and the street can get noisy on a Saturday night. Otherwise, a great place to stay.

Old San Juan is a beautiful town and would highly recommend this as a place to stay for checking out Puerto Rico. The property managers always responded quickly with any questions. There were beach towels and a cooler to take with us when we went to the beach. I am very happy to have chose this as a spot to stay.

Wonderful trip to Puerto Rico
We wanted something close to the Coast Guard base and wanted to be in Old San Juan. This was perfect! It was clean, and quaint! Jan at property manager answered all of our questions promptly and efficiently. The street was a little noisy, but we made out fine. Would definitely stay again.

Great location very clean but noisy
Great location very clean but noisy early mornings and late evenings. It could use nicer living room decor but what’s there works. Can’t be the central location.

Perfect location in Old San Juan! Made you feel like a true resident!
Perfect location to experience Old San Juan in all its phases! Walking distance to all important sights and restaurants. A tad noisy at night but that added to the flavor of staying in a vibrant community with great night life.
