Location, conservatory room for breakfast was lovely, staff were all lovely, very helpful
The room and bathroom ( shower very poor flow) although clean are very dated, really needs refreshing, as does the rest of the property, corridors, stairwells etc. The main reception and main building are still lovely, in keeping with the character of the place, although again, needs a bit of money spent refreshing these areas but still maintaining the character. Bit disappointed you couldn`t get any meals apart from breakfast.

The bedroom was clean and comfortable.
Only 1 person to check you in and serve behind a Empty Bar the place need UPGRADING URGENTLY OR IT WILL NEVER COME BACK.

We had good service for our meals and the staff went out of their way to be of assistance to us
Nothing much they could do with a handle by the shower as it was slippy to get on to the ramp

Friendly staff. Lovely location
Gym and leisure facility closed since hotel was closed last year and leased out to government to house refugees. Hotel has a tired and neglected air with very few guests- it was previously a thriving place- I have stayed here many times over the years. Such a shame - the owners need to spend some money to bring hotel back up to a good standard.

Good and various

The location is very secluded but the hotel is a little piecemeal in its layout for me and needs a little upgrade in the rooms.
If think the ensuite facilities were a little dated and needs upgraded

Nice room overlooking gardens
The wooden gates and discarded fencing.

The staff were wonderful and welcoming, the food and breakfast were excellent.
There was nothing I did not like. The building and grounds are excellent.
3.4
Fabulous decor and setting
Key cards struggled with the door access

Room was clean and the bed was comfortable.
The breakfast was delicious
The room key stopped working and now my bank card won't work contactless either which is very weird.

Lovely room, staff and spa facilities. Stayed here many times. We enjoy our stays and we can take our little dog.
Fruit salad only choice on 3 course set menu. Did check. I don’t understand why the other choices were not veggie - chocolate brownie, cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding. Gelatine? Lard 😧? ???

The only good thing with Macdonald Kilhey Court is that the staff are very friendly and helpful, doing their best to make your stay a more pleasant experience.
This hotel is rundown and in desperate need of maintenance and a big upgrade. We stayed on the second floor in room 320 and 325 and even though it was only 17-20C outside the rooms were like a sauna and uncomfortable to sleep in. The lower floors were much cooler so the problem must be lack of ventilation.
Our room had a cracked sink, missing parts for the taps, the toilet was leaking and very hard to flush. Everything in the room was tired looking including the pillows, giving you an impression that the hotel isn’t being looked after properly. On our second night room 325 had a graveyard of over 10 dead moths in the ceiling light and another few moths and bugs flying around the room, making it even more uncomfortable to sleep in.
During our last stay at the Macdonald Kilhey Court we had a similar experience of the hotel being very run down, however then we also paid for breakfast that was another disappointment!! So this time we picked up a lovely takeaway breakfast from Blunch
It’s unfortunate that both our stays have been such a disappointment, as the hotel is right next door to family and we were looking forward to using this hotel on a regular basis.
When mentioning my concerns at check out both of the ladies at reception agreed with me that the hotel is in a desperate need of an update.

Comfy bed so slept well
Poor service at dinner, lack of staff and long wait to be served. Felt drinks and food were overpriced and food lacking in taste. Decor in the main building was very old fashioned and required updating.
3.4
Good location and friendly staff
Swimming pool is very small. Also block where our room was located was quiet tired and run down.
3.4
The room is comfortable.
The spa and pool facility.
The garden and lake.
The staff is friendly particularly the Polish receptionist (I forgot to ask for her name)
The restaurant messed up my order, servers do not know the menu and are unable to answer questions. Instead of saying I’ll ask. I had to deal with “oh I don’t know”. Not great.
3.4
Good location and good breakfast choice
Unfriendly reception on check in who was also working in the lounge bar, she didn’t even smile at all.
There was a private event on which had music blasting out until midnight. I feel that we should have been informed of this either in advance or on check in given that we were travelling with a baby as this disturbed our sleep massively. The rooms were ridiculously warm so we couldn’t even close the window against the noise. Our room was also in a separate building so to get to our room we had to walk outside in the rain when going for dinner or breakfast which was less than ideal with a baby.
The glasses, water jug and tray in the room were dusty.
No spoons with any of the cups in the room or at breakfast so there was nothing to stir sugar in with.
Asked for vinegar at dinner and this was given in a small bowl which ended up drowning my food as it’s impossible to dispense.

Very helpful receptionist on arrival & welcoming.
Good room size & liked the annexe we were in as very quiet. Also the grounds were lovely & well kept
The receptionist in the morning was requesting payment for breakfasts which had been paid for the previous evening. It took a while to confirm this & unfortunately the way it was dealt with left a bad taste after such a pleasant stay. However, it did get resolved but worth being mindful when settling the bill.

Room ok
Breakfast was poor - cold plates so food was at best Luke-warm
3.4
Location was good, nice grounds, staff friendly.
Property and rooms outdated - room was so hot with an old dirty fan. Locating room was difficult - with lots of bits added over the years on its all over the place… reminded me of a retirement home needs a refurb

Great location.. friendly and welcoming staff.

Breakfast was Very Good, lovley conservatory, Room was Big and very clean
Bar area
3.4
beautiful grounds, lovely staff, amazing spa and treatment and great pool.
Too hot! No air con and fans pretty useless! Also family rooms 324 requires you to navigate a few stairs which is not easy with a baby buggy (lift only takes you so far)
General inside area where rooms are smelt a little of smoke but that’s obviously guests breaking the rules.
3.4
I think it’s probably the worst cooked breakfast I have had in a hotel.
Breakfast

lovely setting , beautiful grounds , lovely rooms and staff
breakfast was over priced

Original building is lovely. Generally staff were very friendly and helpful.
Dinner was very poor quality both main course and desert where basic (soggy vegetables / tough chicken). Only one waitress who was very harassed, she also had a heavy cold and should not have been serving.
Breakfast fruits very poor quality and run down, pastries poor.

Kilhey Court was very peaceful and relaxing. The staff were friendly. The sauna , jacuzzi and steam rooms were fantastic
My partner and I got charged differently each time we bought drinks in the bar.We only realised the next morning .I didn't comment as it was different staff the next day.
3.4
Breakfast and dinner were both good.
Hotel seemed quiet and yet the bedroom was in an annex that meant a walk through the car park for dinner and breakfast.
3.4
large room
dated interiors. bathroom had mould around tiles
