Good room and staff, Pool was not worth it

The room was big and decent facilities in the room. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Really disappointed with the pool and spa facilities. The changing rooms were dirty and the pool water seemed mercky with bits floating around. We felt too uncomfortable to stay in for long. Due to having the pool the price was high in comparison to other places but we choose the Mercure for the pool so were disappointed.

Great, friendly staffed comfortable hotel with good facilities

Staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean, spacious and of a good size. Breakfast was excellent, varied and filling.

Family reunion

Me and my family stayed here for 3 nights, celebrating my birthday. I was given drinks vouchers for the bar 🍸. Staff are very helpful

Nice hotel shame about the food

The rooms were nice

The staff at breakfast needed to iron there shirts doesn't look very good creased shirts. Breakfast was below average nothing

Great hotel, pity about pool cost now

As always, the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Our room on the 6th floor was very large with a separate area with a sofa and table. We appreciated the extra pillows and fan.

Having to pay extra for pool access isnt great, as we go swimming every day

I paid 21 pounds for parking for one day and I was sent a 60 pounds bill for parking violaton !!

Other than that we had a great stay would definitely return and recommend

Position was good Staff were very friendly Dinner and breakfast was amazing

When we got back to the hotel after watching a show we wanted to have a drink in the bar. It was 10.15 and the bar men refused to serve us and said it was dead so he closed up 😡

Could be a 5star but I feel poorly managed and requires a lot of maintenance work done ! Certainly not worth £157 a nigh

Close to the town and spacious rooms

Entrance doors were broken ,3 out for lifts were out of use (15 floor hotel !! ) Heating in the room didn’t work (portable radiator in the corner says it has been not working a while) coffee machine didn’t work. Bar manager cleaning down the bar before time felt uncomfortable and like he wanted us out !

Modern hotel, good food, warm and genuine staff. Room was also a good size.

Staff were excellent, particular Kate who was 5*. An active listener, responded to the issues over both days. She was really helpful and genuine. Food was also very good.

Changing area for the swimming pool/gym was dirty. Same towels on the dirty floor when we came in and when we were leaving. Such a shame as the pool/sauna was great.

So long and thanks for all the fish

The room was nice and comfortable but a little cold in the evenings and there was no way to heat up the room. The beds were comfortable and the location was good. Staff were polite but the food menu didn't inspire.

I stayed here in January and really enjoyed the use of the pool and gym and it made the visit to Cardiff even better, I normally look for hotels with a pool as I enjoy that when I stay, I was however dismayed to learn on arrival that there is a fee now for hotel guests using the pool, £10 a session and so when I decided to stay an additional day in Cardiff I decided to check into another hotel that didn't charge additional fees for on site facilities. I don't think I'll be going back to the Mercure, with 2 people staying for 4 days it was a lot of additional fees. I booked into a slightly more expensive hotel but it was still a cheaper option for me in the long run to have full use of all facilities without extra costs.

Very comfy bed and great location, room very clean

The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was very clean. But there were a whole series of things throughout the hotel which were out of order / being repaired. The swimming pool changing rooms were in need of a good clean and some showers were out of order, as was the steam room.

A good cheap break, comfortable beds and located close to the centre of Cardiff.

This is the second time I’ve stayed here, this time was with two of my friends for a girly break. The hotel was reasonably priced, with a nice pool, steam room and sauna. The location is perfect as it’s centrally located, making it a great base for exploring the city.

The car parking was over priced. We had two cars, and had to pay the full amount for parking. A discretionary price for two cars would have been helpful.

Room very good size. Nice to have bath as well as shower. Quiet area were room was located. Swimming areas lovely.

Daughter’s room by lift so she said it could be noisy. TV’s too small when watching from the bed due to distance. Bed rolled when getting in on a couple of occasions.
