Green Lodge is in convenient position- 5 minute walk to railway station(approx.25 mins.across to city of Liverpool). Hoylake beach is also 5 min.stroll from hotel.
I didn’t have breakfast, but liked how small area in pub was set aside for it.
Enjoyed two evening meals though- good menu choice.
Huge thumbs up to Simon and Jim…made a single female traveller feel most welcome…excellent Marston Inn staff.
Bedroom was great size and very comfortable bed. Ample hanging space.
There was secondary glazing & these upvc windows I could close, but not the
outside “original windows” which made the room a little cooler than I’d prefer.

The staff are amazing. Nothing was tomuch. The food was delicious, the beds so comfortable i wish i could take it home.
The stairs leading to the rooms are steep and difficult , one room had 3 stairs down to the bathroom too an issue if you are disabled. Being an old building stairs are to be expected but a note on the booking site would be helpful

Everything was great

Breakfast was great, just enough and great value.
Lots of choices.
5.0
great location, staff exceptionally friendly, nice rooms
walls a bit thin, could hear people in the next room in the bathroom (but they were being noisy and banging around/pulling the shower head out loudly)
3.5
Lovely,friendly, warm staff. Very helpful
The bed was pushed against the window. Maximum 6 ins to walk into. Very awkward to get in bed. Needed to be a contortionist..
The room furniture situation was poorly planned.
No toilet cleaning brush.
Bath very slippery, didn’t feel safe. Needed a mat for inside the bath.husband didn’t feel safe so did not have a bath or shower. Not enough safety handles by the bath.
Would still stay there again

The bed.Was clean and comfortable.
Hair and dust in mugs.Dust built up on edges of windowsill.Paper hanging off the wall.
Booked the last twin room, but on arrival was given the king size one.I did comment on it at the time.
4.5
Staff excellent (as usual).
New manager is lovely and cannot do enough to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
Must also say that the room cleanliness was excellent. Everything seemed to sparkle.
See you again in July 😉

Very friendly, professional and helpful staff.
Lovely big airy rooms, comfortable beds and great beer garden.
We had a family gathering for lunch. The food was delicious and great value for money.

We were greeted at the door immediately upon entry by a very happy and amenable young man which after 5 hours of driving was most welcomed. Almost all front of house staff were happy, hospitable and helpful throughout our stay. We were visiting local family, which all wanted to know our own experience of Green Lodge, apparently it had suffered a "hit and miss" replutation but we couldn't see why this would be as we were more than happy with everything we experienced from breakfast to evening dinner to housekeeping. Would definately rebook.
Room 2 - cracked bathroom sink.

Bar was great. Outside space lovely. Room nice. Staff friendly. Location great. Water lovely and hot , staff great at giving extra tea and milk etc. Cannot fault staff.
Having to heave your cases down a slippery fire escape if you leave early. Quite dangerous especially as an older person. Stairs inside were hard enough but staff member did carry my case up to room for me. If you come back to hotel once pub closed you have to negotiate the slippery fire escape then try to get in as lock dodgy bit of a worry until key decided to work. Pillows flat pretty useless. Also had to go up and down fire escape if you went out before pub opened unless staff about to let you out. Not really satisfactory when you get older. Pity about the access spoilt the trip a bit. Shower tiny and had to leave shower door open until water hot enough or freezing shower first. Resulting in wet floor . Also no warning sign on door about deep step down to bathroom. Stayed here in 2018 before refurb. Menu better and shower bigger. Payed extra this trip for room upgrade yet the room in 2018 whilst basic before refurb was bigger with bigger bathroom so not sure was worth extra although to be fair was only a few pounds extra. This hotel would be absolutely fine if we were younger and didn't get the upgrade and have such a tiny shower.

Room was great, lots of room, but very hot, their is a problem with the heating, we left the window open as much as we could. Breakfast really good, very tasty. All the staff were lovely and very friendly. We have already booked again for a week in December 22. x
The heating is a problem as can not be turned off, but we kept the window open most of the time so made it a lot better.
