Great location and fantastic people. :)

Our stay ar Sigiri Rock Side Home Stay was 10/10 recommendable. We were here for two nights and - thanks to the best recommendations here - we were able to see so many extremely nice things, explore the area and loved it in the end. The cherry on top: the spectacular breakfast that is served daily including typical dishes like Hoppers, coconut pancakes and so many more things. The location was exactly what we wanted in Sigiriya - a short walk from all the restaurants and Sigiriya. Please ask the owner for advice on what to do on your trip - he knows his area better than any guide book you‘ll find :)

O melhor pequeno-almoço do mundo!

A nossa estadia foi simplesmente incrível!!! Não espere luxos porque os quartos são simples e a casa de banho antiga. O que se destaca aqui são os donos do estadia, são tão simpáticos e prestáveis e vão proporcionar-lhe a melhor experiência em Sigirya. E prepare-se para a experiência gastronómica que é o pequeno-almoço! Tantos pratos deliciosos locais, mais parece um almoço! O dono é incansável a organizar os nossos dias em Sigirya, até acordou a meio da noite para nos deixar em Pidurangala.

Super aardige familie met heerlijk ontbijt

Bevindt zich midden in de jungle, op loopafstand van de hoofdstraat van Sigiriya. Mooi onderhouden tuin. Vriendelijke ontvangst door het hele gezin. Comfortabel lang bed (2.00m+). Voortreffelijk ontbijt. Ook kan je een kookworkshop doen waarbij je 10 currys gaat maken op Sri lankaanse wijze, een aanrader!

In de avond kan de 300m door de jungle wellicht spannend zijn, maar dit kan met tuktuk worden opgelost.

The owner is like the local governer and knows everyone and everything - Very helpful and always open for a conversation. He brought us to Pidurangala at 5am (!) in the morning, for free (!!) Nice natural location with lots of trees and nature. Just 15 mins to the lions rock by walk.

Wonderful experience in Sigiriya

An incredible hotel! One hundred percent recommended. The family has been wonderful and thanks to them we have had an unforgettable experience in Sigiriya. Please do not hesitate to book this hotel, we have tried the best breakfast in all of Sri Lanka. The rooms are perfect and everything was very clean. The hotel is a 5-minute walk from one of the entrances to visit the Pidurangala and the Sigirya mount. A 7-minute walk away is a main street where there are shops and many good restaurants at a good price. With the same hotel we hired the excursion to visit the Safari in Kumana where our experience was wonderful, the guide was a young boy who taught us with great affection and dedication all the animals of the National Park and we were lucky to see the elephants very near. Thanks to the entire hotel family for making us have a wonderful stay in Sigirya, ayubowan!!!!

Beautiful little home stay with a wonderful garden perfectly located for lions rock. The owners were extremely friendly and helped me make the most of my stay. Bed was comfortable. Good value for money

the perfect place to stay in sigiriya!

the couple who runs this home stay was very nice and welcoming. the breakfast was very good and their cocking class was super nice - still the best curry we have had in Sri Lanka! they gave good recommendations and helped with our arrangements, giving us local prices. also very nice rooms and close to the main street of restaurants. we stayed three nights and would definitely stay here again!

Affordable, friendly, would recommend

Fantastic hosts who were very helpful especially re helping us get to places! Drove us early for sunrise hike and helped us get the bus to Kandy. Location is short 10 min walk to high street and 15 min walk from entrance to Sigiriya rock. Even so, it is quiet and amidst forest. Great breakfast with a huge selection of Sri Lankan treats and fruits. Also helped arrange a great safari to the Minneriya national park.

The walk from the street to the accommodation is through forest and after dark (6.30pm) it is very dark with no lighting, so coming back from dinner in the evening was slightly uncomfortable.

The best place in Sri Lanka.

Everything about this homestay is magical. The host makes you feel at home in a second in the most beautifull surrounding. The room is perfect. You should definitely do the cooking class. It's a great cook and a fun guy. Recepy for a great evening and perfect stay.

Lovely place to stay!

super clean, lovely family, good breakfast and beautiful surroundings. It is so peaceful! The homestay is run by a very warm and welcoming family. It is a 10 minute walk to the entrance for Lion Rock and 5 minutes from the restaurants and shops.

The property is located at the top of a dirt road which is not lit at night - wouldn’t walk the road as we were warned there are animals in the jungle around the area. Best to take tuk tuk at night.

Lovely homestay, run by lovely couple, great food

Set in a beautiful lush garden and run by the loveliest couple, we had a wonderful experience. Great value for money. Easy to walk to Sigiriya and Pidurangala rocks. Probably one of the best included breakfasts we had in Sri Lanka. The fridge in the room was super useful and we liked that it was stocked with very reasonably priced refreshing beverages. The hosts were very helpful & gave us good advice. We wished we had time to stay more than one night!

Amazing location, clean room & the best staff!

Amazing location right next to Sigiriya rock. rooms were really clean with everything you need for comfortable stay. highlight of our trip was the staff though, such kind welcoming people. When we arrived we got chatting about stray dogs & the owner told us that he regularly prepares food for around 150 dogs and distributes. We really wanted to do this so he took us to the market to buy the supplies then we prepared 30 kilos of vegetables & his wife & staff helped us to cook all the food for the dogs! We spent around 2 hours driving around distributing all the food & it was one of the best things we have ever done! He was so kind & supportive throughout the experience. Thank you so much to the team at Sigria home stay ❤️

The house owner was very friendly and helpful. He picked us up by Jeep when it was getting dark, to be sure we would arrive safely without any dangerous encounter (with free living elephants from the national park nearby). Big plus : the breakfast was delicious with a lot of traditional food to taste. It is very clean and good to relax. It is also only a 4min walk away from several very good restaurants.

Very friendly host and helpful with organizing stuff. The location is outside of the main road, so very quiet. and it is walking distance to Sigiryia Rock. Breakfast was fantastic and very big, we did not manage to finish it even after first climbing to the Rock early in the morning to prevent the heat :)

We liked everything there! The hosts were amazing! They helped us to arrange and organise everything. The host even offered us a ride at 5am to go to see a sunrise to Pidurangala rock. The hostess prepares the most delicious breakfast, I can easily say that it was the best breakfast on our trip around Sri Lanka. The room was nice and clean. They are so kind and friendly, we felt very welcomed at their homestay.

Fantastic homestay in Sigiri

Big and clean room, with mosquito net, fan, hot water and wifi works perfectly. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic! I can say it was my favorite out of all breakfasts during my trip, you get to try a little bit of so many different things. Family that runs the place are all very nice, they speak perfect English and really go out of their way to help the clients. they can help arrange whatever you need. I ended up doing an elephant Safari (which I wasn’t planning to) and very happy I followed their advice. Would definitely stay here if I come back to the area, thanks for everything!

Although location is great (close to the lion rock, Pindurangala, bus stop, places to eat etc) and its only 3min from the main road, dirt path is not best to walk alone in the dark. that said, the host was super nice and for instance he got up and drop me to the bus stop to catch the bus to Kandy early morning.

beautiful country side. very delightful stay of two nights. we regret we couldn't stay more. room was clean and tidy. bed long enough and very comfy. green patio soriunded by jungle :-) royal breakfast! sooo delicious and plentiful. hosts very hospitable and nice.

Loved the hospitality of the family hosting us. They arranged things according to our needs, with the best rates. The best part is the breakfast - its a festive meal of Sri Lankan dishes. The owner also packed some food for me to take on the go for my early morning ride to Kandy - felt much at home for the love given.

Our stay at Rockside was perfect. Pasindu and Priyantha both made our stay memorable. Everything was spotlessly clean and our room had everything we may need. Breakfast was delicious and so big we couldn't finish it. The location was ideal as we could walk to town and also Pindurangala and Sigiriya rocks. A local elephant could be spotted in the river too. They tell us they are soon starting to offer cooking classes. We wish them well with this. Priyantha cooks well and has a great sense of humour to go with it.

Amazing value for money and a lovely place to stay.

Amazing location, really comfortable rooms, clean and really nice breakfast. The owner is beyond helpful, he took us to the peak for sunrise as well as to our bus transfer as well as being an incredibly lovely person. I really strongly recommend staying here, I will be recommending to family and friends of all ages. Amazing value and experience, I will be back

This was the best experience we've had so far. The location is perfect-it's quiet and peaceful, deep in the forest but just close enough to a small village with restaurants and a shop. The staff is so friendly and acts like you're familiy to them. They prepare breakfast for you, which is so delicious! - traditional Sri Lankan food (sour and sweet). The dogs around are adorable and the monkeys really add up to the experience. The rooms are clean and airconditioned. Every room has its own little outside space, where you can drink coffee or tea, smoke a cigarette and listen to the sounds of the forest. The best place to stay in Sigiriya! Will definitely be back! :))
