Had to pay for parking. Moretti beer was off badly. Shower was freezing cold. Smelt damp everywhere Place is in need a a refurbishment badly

Good value for money, solid hotel with plenty to offer.

Super friendly staff. Hotel and rooms were sparkling clean. Comfy bed and new pillows provided. Fantastic function room for the event.

Some areas were tired and dated, but this didn’t detract from them being super clean.

Friendly staff, good facilities and a great location close to the Wye

The room was pleasant, quite small (just a single) but with everything I needed. The hotel is within easy walking distance of a very nice riverside pub and the walks down the river towards Monmouth are lovely. The staff were very friendly and helpful and made me feel very welcome

Past it’s best, shame as the location is beautiful.

The location is gorgeous and the people were very friendly.

There’s clearly been a good effort to improve the property through renovations but it’s past it’s best and poorly maintained. The price of the room, especially when you add on breakfast, is high considering the quality, didn’t even service the room.

Great location, right on the river and easy walking distance to restaurants, pubs, cafes, butterfly farm, crazy golf, canoeing and walking. Lovely gardens and lounge for quiet drinks and the staff were great, happy and helpful. Plenty of free parking.

Clean, but very basic accommodation. Old decor, eery old fashioned vibe.

A late notice booking was accepted through Booking.com on the late afternoon of the stay.

There was no hot water. There was a sign in the bathroom asking that guests run both the hot and cold taps in the shower and basin to ensure hot water would be pulled through. Both my colleague and I (in separate rooms) did this, but neither of us had hot water. We didn't have time in the morning to raise this with hotel staff, before having to get on the road.

My husband and I had a lovely stay. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Food was excellent. The room was lovely and the bed was comfortable. I couldn't fault it one bit and we will definitely be going back.

Lovely location

Nice clean rooms with comfortable beds, residents' permits are provided for the adjacent pay-and-display car park. The staff are friendly and helpful and there is a lovely lounge for residents at the rear, unfortunately we only discovered this late in our stay! We didn't eat in the hotel, we booked (essential, and online only) meals at The Old Ferrie Inn which is about 10 minutes walk along the river, via very steep and narrow roads--or you can take your car, the same applies! The food there is extremely good, I can't comment on the hotel food.

WiFi connection was very intermittent, the staff said this was a problem with the whole valley but they were expecting BT to upgrade to fibre at some point.

Everything! The food is amazing, the staff are amazing, the grounds are beautiful, room was clean and bright! Beautiful location, lots of walks, right by the Wye, could not fault a thing! We will be back!

Excellent food. Very pleasant but cramped rooms.

The hotel is in the delightful surroundings of Symonds Yat. The garden is well maintained and open to guests with seating areas. It opens onto the flood plain of the river Wye which is accessible for canoeing or for guests to walk. The hotel has a substantial paying car park but guests must secure a complimentary parking ticket and display this in the windscreen. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The food is excellent and fresh, with an evening meal menu including delicious Thai options. Our room was clean with fresh bed linen and towels. Complimentary toiletries and plenty of loo rolls. For guests wishing to access the water sports there is a centre right next door with ample parking for trailers and larger vans. The location offers easy access to beautiful scenery, recreational facilities and activities for all within reasonable travel distance. We packed in castle, caves and art exhibit, boat and steam rail trips, Butterfly zoo and maze,and plenty of wondrous sightseeing and walking in just the bank holiday weekend.

Our room was small and felt cramped with a tiny en-suite shower, toilet and hand basin. The sliding door did not close properly. The hot water for the shower took about 10 minutes to come through in the morning and flow was poor. There were no lifts. Wi-Fi to the 1st floor was non existent and although access is free to guests it it only accessible in the very pleasant customer lounge.

Excellent stay, welcoming and helpful staff. Took care of us for anniversary stay. Extras thrown in!

We had excellent service from the staff. They even threw in some chocolates and wine for our anniversary get away. Breakfast was great and loads of space to relax.

No issues. All went well. No bad point about it. Great stay.
