Good hotel, didn't see any wildlife in the private safari park but that's the luck of the draw. Meals were fine but they did have problems getting my steak cooked correctly.
Rooms were nice, a good size. we ha an outside shower which was different
Underdone steak

Was für ein Traum. Es klingt vielleicht sonderbar, aber hier war wirklich alles außergewöhnlich! Die Lage ist einmalig, die Zimmer hervorragend, das Personal äußerst freundlich und aufmerksam. Hier kommt echtes „Out Of Africa“-Feeling auf.

With so much attention to detail, one cannot wish for anything more. Dinners were served in the boma around an inviting camp fire that enhanced the bushveld atmosphere. The three course menus offered a variety of the finest haute cuisine. Well executed excursions offered by the Lodge completed the safari experience one dreams of. This part of the country is truly underrated and a real hidden gem.

Room is beautifully furnished and we'll equipped
Rooms do not have tv, for a four star a bit unusual

The tents we were sleeping in and the environment was okay and cool
They're check in and out was not good because it inconvenient our programs or plans for the day

Hospitality from Martin and his team- superb, bartenders were excellent and the food was delicious.
Spa with Zinhle - exceptional
cheetah walk with Nemile out of this world
initially food took a bit longer but that got better and was worth the wait,
This one is not directly the fault of the property but it was hot.

The main Camp with the watering hole.
The room was not cleaned well. could not find the light switch for the bathroom. The kitchen area was not cleaned up from the previous guest from the day before our arrival. The Wilderness Camp was to far away from the main lodge and we had to travel for and back for our meals. The Wine prices are way to high for the offering, SA offers some of the Worlds best wines, why offer imported wines?

The location is very good if you want to visit Mapungubwe park.
The host was politely friendly but it was not a "warm welcome".
The diner was ok but was not 4 stars ok. The breakfast was not that much: some yogurt and then they came to ask for eggs but there was no buffet available.

I like everything from both rooms including Camp to Dinner, stuff was excellent. I already planned to return with friends to experience it more on long stay, live that we were given opportunity to experience lodge and Wilderness camp.
I would recommend to have a small Kitchen Facility for guest not to be shared with Main kitchen with small accessories.

We enjoyed personal attention by staff and the relaxed and quiet atmosphere.
Wifi connectivity did not work in the room as promised.

The staff were very friendly
Victor was very helpful
The room was very nice and confortable, it had all we needed.
The splash pool and outdoor bathtub made our stay extra special
There wasnt much option on the menu. We wanted to have dinner at our room but it couldbt happen as there was only one waiter available for the night.

The staff were excellent, but terribly overworked and overwhelmed.
Management is non existent. I tried to get information about the difference in all inclusive and full board rates - sent a message - no response, called the lodge - the person who answered the phone said she didnt know, but would find out and send me an email - no email arrived. I sent an email repeating the questions I had - no response for a week, even until the day we traveled.
We took the Comfort room all inclusive package which we finally learned after arriving there that it included all meals - no game drive, no drinks included. Ok, we could live with that.
When we went for the buffet dinner, one day the soup had run out (we reached at the time we were told dinner would begin to be served), no cutlery, no place to sit. Just absolute chaos.
The price difference that we paid for all 3 meals included vs breakfast & dinner included was about 500Rand per day. The lunch that we paid 250Rand per person per day for? We were given the same a la carte menu as guests that hadn't pre-paid for lunch - price per meal 60-100R.
Absolute disaster at gate control which had us waiting from 8:30am-10:00am for someone to open the gate, finally departing guests opened it for us from inside. Despite requesting to speak to management, the only person who spoke to us was the F&B manager who knew nothing of the situation
The water in the taps is salt water.
We were assured a fridge in the room - no fridge!
Honestly, for the price we paid, this has been the worst managed safari lodge we have ever stayed at

Here you will find peace.
Very nice surroundings.
Bird watching and game hike with Anna was exceptional, and so was her knowledge.
Judith helped us with correcting our booking, even before it turned out a mess.
It is clear that the people at Mapungubwe are also well aware of Mapesu/ Mopanie lodge, since they enquired about our place of stay on entry, mentioning Mapesu every time on their own.
It is clear that they are also busy with further improvements to make your stay even better.
On departure we had a flat tyre right at the gate. We were still busy to start the changing of the tyre when one of the rangers stopped next to me, and took over to help us get on our way.....he saw on the security camera and came to help without us even asking. That is service and caring! Thank you so much again.
