Mario and his staff were outstanding. They were attentive, caring and trust worthy. They made us feel as if we were guests in their private home. The secluded location and view of the lake/volcanos were spectacular and the large fluffy pool towels for cool evening dips into the jacuzzi were a bonus.
There were signs the place was aging a bit, i.e. the bed were a bit uncomfortable on one side, the kayaks were functional but a bit worn, and place mats in the restruant should be replaced. A few other minor issues, there was no means to hang cloths in the room, there was no wifi in our room and although the restaurant food was above average, the menu choices were a bit limited.

I like the location, the experience taking a ride in a boat to get the hotel.

amazing views. very accommodating staff. comfortable room with lots of space for our family of 5.
the restaurant was just ok. I would have enjoyed traditional Guatemalan cuisine as opposed to the mediocre American food that was on the menu. the staff at the restaurant were lovely and provided great service.

Location was amazing, away from noise and people. Jerry the chef from the restaurant went beyond his limited resources to make specific meal for my picky kids, even manage to make 2 birthday cakes for my husband and daughter. All the staff are super friendly and ready to help you with wherever you need. The villa we stayed in has the most amazing views to the lake, lots of big windows and lots of natural light and exquisite decoration with Guatemalan art crafts.

Views were excellent. Pool and hot tub were well maintajned. Staff was helpful and available. There was a staff member who spoke English. Staff was responsive quickly to email message. Our stay included an extra free trip into San Antonio which we weren't expecting. Rooms are nicely decorated, clean and spacious.
We didn't realize it was only accessible by boat. They did help us arrange parking for our car, but we had to wait a long time before we could leave because we were boxed in the parking lot. Also parking was an additional expense. It said there was wifi in public areas but there is only wifi in the hotel office. It didn't even reach the pool area or the restaurant. Since you are in a remote location you kind of need to use the hotel dining. It is pretty pricey for what you get and the food is just OK. There is a fridge/microwave in the room so you could bring your own stuff, but we weren't expecting to not have other places to go. We were in a room for 4. The picture showed 4 twin beds. When we got there it was a king and two twin beds. Not a big deal, but not what was listed on the website. One of the twins was really hard and our friend slept on the couch instead which was also not comfortable. There was also a rat running around the pool area which was a little disconcerting. Hot water in the shower was difficult to regulate. It took a long time to get hot and then we scalding hot if you used only hot. If you added any cold to it, it was too cold.
