Lovely hotel with a very kind and attentive staff. So Japanese with a wonderful garden. Absolute harmony! We had a few questions and had immediate feed back from the staff. Thank you!

Nice location, delicious dinner/breakfast. Beds were comfy and view of the ocean is spectacular.
Required some back and forth to coordinate the actual schedule for arranged meals (if you pay for breakfast/dinner, it applies for dinner the first night and breakfast the second day rather than both on the same day.)

Quaint
Musty smell. Stains on the ceilings and walls.

Very quiet and peaceful. Beautiful view. Spacious and traditional.
Very old property that really needs some renovations.

we stay one night in this hotel ,they upgraded our room for free! sea view is available from our room.
we can enjoy the hot spring from bathtub in our room .
One of the best Onsen hotel I have been.next time will try their kaiseki dinner too.
Close to Toi Gold mint, and ferry to shimizu port.
location.
don’t have any JR station nearby. But you can access the hotel by Bus, with 5mins walk to nearest bus stop.

The location was very beautiful and also very easy to get to by bus.

The staffs where professioned, and the room was superb!! No words can describe, the onsen and bed was so so comfortable. The location of this place might be too convenient but as a place for leisure, me and my friend were happy that this place wasn’t too commercialized. Highly recommend:):):)

The room was very spacious with a nice view. Definitely recommend to make us of the private bath!! the food was great, though might be a bit too Japanese for non Japanese visitors;-)

Property looks like the pictures and was very comfortable. The food was amazing and the staff were very hospitable and nice.

The property is over 100 years old, so everything is dated, but the staff is trying their best to continue the upkeep of it. Dinner was very abundant (we couldn’t eat it all), as was breakfast, and the food was all very good. The staff were all very helpful and polite.
We were kind of shocked when one of the dinner plates (Awabi/shellfish) arrived still moving. One of my girls started to cry, and we had to send that part of the meal back, poor things, as we didn’t want to see them roasted alive.
It would be nice if there were signs asking guests to wear masks on the premises, as there were quite a few people in the halls in the morning sans masks on their way to the baths.
There was only one private bath for the building we were in, so it was impossible to get a decent time slot when we arrived an hour after check-in began. The bath/shower in our room wasn’t great looking, but we opted for it instead of the public bath due to coronavirus concerns.

Room - super spacious. A virtual apartment for 2. Scenic. Overlooking the sea and the red lighthouse. A meditation ground.
Staff - Mr. K. Arai is like cute beyond words! He hurries to your every need and is dedicated to solving your quirkiest problems! He will run out after you cuz he believes you’re gonna miss the nearest bus, will high five you when you come back from your day, and on the last day, he ended up driving us to the Shuzenji station! Probably because we asked too many problems about the bus schedule, haha, and they did not leave us until we bought our tickets and were safely waiting for our train.
Onsen - ohmygodgorgeous and a small piece of heaven on earth. The morning outdoor dips, the late night soaks in the garden, moments to die for.
Garden - the day it rained, we sat in the garden for nearly a whole afternoon, wilfully becoming part of it.
Meal - oh. My. God. Need I say more. Japanese food aficionados, rejoice!
Other - they have a souvenir shop on property, so you don’t need to worry about buying your souvenir at the airport.
Location - an hour’s bus ride from Shuzenji station, one bus per hour. It’s by the sea and removed from the world. If that’s what you want, go for it.
None.

Our first impression on arriving was of a traditional Onsen and we were not disappointed. From the moment of our arrival, the level of service and attention to our every need was exemplary, the ability of the staff to provide us with a memorable experience was confirmed from the time we were offered tea and shown through the Onsen.
The quality and quantity of food and the way it was presented showed great skill from the chefs and also the staff member assigned to look after us during our stay.
The Onsen were sublime and the feeling of relaxation afterwards was second to none.
The view from our room was magnificent and the manager even notified us of the time of sunset which allowed to be in our room in time to enjoy this beautiful experience.
After checkout, the manager drove us to town and assisted us with the purchase of tickets to our next destination.
We have no hesitation in recommending Gyoshukoen Arai to everyone!
Everything was Perfect!
