About this cottage rental
This unique guest cottage (1,000 sq. ft.) is located in Old Town Basalt. Tucked in the back yard of our home, it offers a neighborhood experience within walking distance
(4 min) to historic downtown Basalt and just steps away from hiking trails to Basalt Mountain and the Gold Medal Waters of the Frying Pan River. With private access and designated parking, this property is a special find as it was built by us with attention to detail and design. Mostly used as a private guest house for family and friends, we decided to open it up to guests and list it on VRBO. We are enjoying sharing this special spot with our guests! It offers one private bedroom upstairs with a king bed. There is additional sleeping space with two twin beds at the top of the stairway open to the hallway. The Bathroom and washer and dryer are also located upstairs. Downstairs features a fully equipped kitchen and living room with french doors opening to a patio and an additional sitting area overlooking the shared backyard and garden.
Shopping, hiking, biking, mountain biking, fly fishing, skiing, and dinning are all nearby. There is so much to do here, and we are happy to give you suggestions and point you in the right direction.
Please note that the guest house has a maximum capacity of 4, please respect this rule as we do not make exceptions.

Comfortable and beautiful house in a residential neighborhood within walking distance of the town of Basalt. Lovely covered patio, well stocked kitchen and a great upstairs bedroom with a very comfortable king size bed. The owners were very friendly and available for questions. We will return!

The cottage was absolutely perfect and beautiful! We enjoyed the ease of check-in/out, communication with Janie and the delicious homemade treats as we arrived! The proximity to the ski slopes and ease of slope shuttle was a positive. The town of Basalt is cute and many local food/ brewery options with great food and customer service, too! The cozy cottage was perfect for our family! It was spotless with all kitchen tools needed for cooking, laundry, and comfortable beds! Janine and Scott were quickly responsive if we had questions. We will stay here again, if it’s available for our future dates. Highly recommend! Janie and Scott, thank you for being great hosts!

Great property for 4. Well stocked kitchen with modern appliances. Excellent common space to eat and relax. only 20 minutes to all mountains with no traffic. A wonderful place on Earth.

Our stay was exceptional! Janie and Scott were amazing host. Their home was absolutely lovely with great attention given to detail. Janie has truly thought of everything you could need for this beautiful property including a lint roller! For me, this stay was exceptionally clean! I travel with my own can of Lysol and lysol wipes. I am OCD when it comes to cleanliness! I had not a single worry! I can’t say enough wonderful things about our host! Thank you for making our stay exceptional!

House is very homey and has a great stylish vibe - exactly as shown in online photos. Lots of attention to detail in how the home is equipped and furnished too! Walkable to all the dining options in Old Basalt and easy drive to Aspen, Snowmass or rest of Roaring Fork Valley.
Janie is a great hostess - responsive, friendly and full of information on things to do in the area!

This cottage exceeded all expectations. It was like a scene from a dream or a movie. The attention to detail, and the cleanliness was extraordinary. The convenience to both Aspen and Glenwood Springs made it a great location. It was difficult to pack up and leave. A+

The home is charming, neat as a pin and super private. We had our own parking and separate entrance to the property. All of the amenities were more than we could have asked for...from cozy clean and stylish sheets to various types of olive oil and pepper in the pantry, all of our needs were covered. Such an amazing value so close to skiing, hiking, and shopping in Snowmass, Aspen, Willits and Carbondale. We walked to coffee in the morning when we were not making it ourselves, and enjoyed strolling to/through town for dinner. Janie is the absolute best and was quick to respond to any and all of our questions. Wish I could live there!

The cutest little home with the cutest backstory! It was an easy drive to Snowmass and was a lovely place to hangout out during the day while everyone else skied. Would definitely return.

This may have been the third or fourth time that we have rented this cottage. That speaks for itself. It is one of a kind, quite a find. Janie and Scott couldn’t be nicer!

Location, location, location - short walk to everything in town. The house is incredibly comfortable with the owners having provided every amenity. Incredible porch seating area and back yard for relaxing morning coffees and evening cocktails. Plenty of space, comfortable bed, couldn't be nicer.

Our guest house stay was a lovely experience right near the center of Basalt. It had everything we needed and then some from our gracious hosts to the freshly baked cookies and wine upon arrival. We will recommend it to friends and be back if we’re in town again!

This cottage is a magical place in the heart of quintessential small America. The cottage is wonderful, beautifully designed and comfortable, with a lovely patio. The owners are neighbors, always friendly and full of helpful advice. Lucky are the folks who get to stay here.

Charming Cottage
We so enjoyed staying at this precious home. We truly felt like locals and loved the proximity to the shops and dining in Basalt along with the easy drive to the slopes. The home is fully stocked above and beyond with all that one could need during their stay. Cookies and wine awaited us for seamless check! We hope to return soon and often.

Perfect Guest House in Basalt
Jane and Scott’s guest cottage is a true gem. The interiors are magazine worthy and extremely well thought out with lots of touches that make it feel like you are a guest of a close friend (if that friend happened to be a master decorator!). The location is just up the hill from historic Basalt and offers a great spot to explore the natural beauty in the area. Mattresses, linens, and kitchen supplies are all excellent. The hosts are very thoughtful and go out of their way to make sure you have a great visit. We didn’t want to leave and hope to be back soon! Thanks for having us!

Winter Oasis
This is a beautiful cottage that comes fully equipped with many of the amenities and accommodations that one would expect to find in a five star hotel. This home is an ideal spot for singles, close friends, and small families looking for a great vacation home or a couple seeking a romantic retreat. The home is as beautiful as it appears in the pictures, with amazing architectural elements, and a quaint design palate that is both warm and inviting. The home is located in quiet residential neighborhood close to shops and restaurants, and a short drive to some of the best ski mountains in Aspen. Janie and Scott are wonderful hosts, they're very attentive to there VRBO guests and readily accessible via call or text, if you should need help. They are also a great resource for trip planning. I can't say enough great things about the place. I really enjoyed my time here and hope to come back again soon. If you are coming in the winter I would highly recommend that you consider renting a vehicle equipped with four wheel drive to help better navigate the mountainous terrain.

What a brilliant place and lovely hosts!!!
I can not say enough good things about our stay. The house is absolutely gorgeous and has wonderful little details throughout that make it feel warm and cozy. It was the perfect amount of space for our family of 3. It’s located walking distance to the Main Street, which has charming restaurants and shops to check out. It’s also just a short drive the the mountains for snowboarding or skiing. Janie and Scot are such amazing hosts. They are friendly, kind and all around good people. We had a small mechanical issue with my truck during our stay and they were quick to help us resolve it. Could not be more appreciative for their help. We would definitely stay here again, and are already looking forward to a return visit. As well as we recommend staying at Janie and Scott’s to anyone who is thinking about it, you won’t be disappointed.

Fantastic winter stay
My family and I had the best time at Janie's place in Basalt. The cottage is one of the coziest houses I have ever stayed in--beautifully designed and fully equipped with everything we needed for our stay--not to mention very comfy beds! The cottage in Basalt is in walking distance to bars & restaurants, and close driving distance to all of the valley's ski resorts. Can't wait to come back in the future! :)

My family of 3 stayed at this beautiful little home. We loved every minute and really appreciated the extra special touches--especially the chocolate pretzels. Everything was clean and comfortable and my (biggest pet peeve when staying elsewhere)--the pillows and linens were high quality. Janie was so thoughtful. We will 100% be back.

This is one of those amazing finds on vrbo that I selfishly don’t want to review because it is so perfect. We love staying in this comfy, beautiful cottage in an ideal location with the very nicest owners. Absolutely everything we might possibly want for a comfortable stay is there. It is the best vrbo has to offer. Now one can understand my reluctance to review! Selfishly I would like to keep it the best kept secret but Janie and Scott are so wonderful that I’m happy to share. Thanks again for another fabulous visit!

Adorable Guest House
Amazing farmhouse style guest house! Pictures completely represent the house accurately. We absolutely loved this property! The property was extremely clean and well suited for our needs. We arrived tired and late but opened the door to find a large plate of homemade cookies and a bottle of wine! Our stay was for 5 nights and we had everything we needed for the nights we decided to cook dinner (kitchen utensils that is). The main street area with restaurants is an easy walk with a cut through next to the old mercantile building. We did have a flashlight when walking at night. Remarkable!!!! hiking within a short drive. Janie was a pleasure to work with! Definitely recommend.
