You can stroll through the nearby cozy town of Borgarnes and drop by the cafe’s, museums, shops and restaurants. Take a drive to the capital Reykjavík with all its glory, nightlife and culture. Make a day trip on the Golden Circle and see the exploding Geysir with all its natural power, and drop by the historic Thingvellir National Park, and view close up the beautiful Gullfoss waterfall. In the evenings you will always come back home to this modern architecturally designed house in Helluskógur and the first thing you might do is, relax in the hot tub and enjoy the views or the Northern Lights in the peace and quietness after a memorable day.

Great property for 6 of us. Prompt responses from property owner when we needed general assistance. Very clean, spacious, nicely equipped with all you wouldnneed

The property was better than described with everything needed for a proper stay.

We stayed at this property for 4 nights and absolutely loved it. It was very well appointed and had everything we needed, even plastic plates/cups for kids, children's books and the toys for the kids were a really nice touch. The one time I contacted the owners during our stay the response was almost immediate. I would highly recommend and definitely stay here again!

We went to Iceland to try to catch the Northern Lights and were blessed to have been able to see them from this beautiful home! We enjoyed the well stocked kitchen, spacious design, and comfortable furniture! We didn't use the hot tub as we expected to but hit up the (sort of) nearby Krauma hot springs. We really appreciated our AWD with studded tires as the road to the home was very icy on many days. Everything was as expected and advertised. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home!

The house is timelessly modern, clean and very well equipped. It is in a remote location with little light-pollution, ideally to watch northern lights - if there are.
The host is very responsive and easy to communicate with.
We'd love to come back if we have the opportunity!

Plenty of room for 7 adults to spread out. Fantastic windows and comfortable gathering space. New kitchen and appliances making it very easy to prepare meals.

We loved the house! From the design to the amenities and the hosts with high attention to detail everything was great. We were a group of 6 women and used the house as a hub to go out exploring each day. The hot tub was a treat at the end of our daily adventures. Also, the beds and pillows were very comfortable.
Note that one shower is outside, which I may have missed When reserving.
The cooktop was a bit challenging for us so my only suggestion would be to have very detailed instructions like there are for the other household appliances.
That being said, we would return!

Wonderful home in a great location to see many sights in Iceland. The house itself is top notch. Clean, modern, all the amenities and more of home. It was perfect for the family.
Also I want to point out the heated floors and….the outdoor shower. Trust me. It’s a must. The water is perfect, the air is divine.
You really won’t want for anything staying there. The owners make sure you are ready for your stay in Iceland - going well above by providing valuable information and suggestions.
Can’t say enough great things. And if you’re a runner- you’ll thank Iceland everyday for the paths around the place.

I recently stayed here with a group of 5 adults and one toddler, and we all loved our time in this house. The location feels remote, but is convenient to Borgarnes and is an excellent home base for exploring West Iceland. The house is both modern and very comfortable. Our host was responsive and friendly over messaging. I would certainly stay here again!

Our family spent 2 nights here while we explored the Snaefellsnes peninsula. Location was great, house was very clean and well supplied. Beds were very comfortable and the hot tub was an added bonus after a long day! We would absolutely stay there again.

Fantastic property, perfect for our family base camp to explore the area. Beds were comfy and communal spaces were perfect. Loved the hot tub too!

This place is beautiful. Has the perfect layout for a small group, great amenities, and is secluded and quiet, while still not too far out of town. Would definitely go back again.

This place was great for 3 couples. House feels private, Clean and well stocked. The outdoor space is fantastic, hot tub is a great way to end the night. The house is about 10 minutes from town. We did a day trip to snaefells peninsula. Got back late and cooked a nice dinner. Only feedback is watch your head on the exhaust fan above the stove.

We had a wonderful stay here. We got a glimpse of the northern lights from the hot tub. We stay at the end of April so the tail end of being able to see them. Great location to town and to the western region. The house was clean, the heated floor and heated drying racks were great! We’d definitely stay here again.

This place was great accommodations. Wish we would have stayed at this location longer. Hot tub was nice, bathrooms were updated, kitchen had ample room to cook and plenty of utensils.
The owners were very nice and communicative. Even helped us navigate a storm, when our next location was not very helpful.

A gorgeous house - very modern and clean. It was perfect for our family of four. The surrounding scenery is beautiful and we took nice walks around the house and to the river (which was partly frozen in early April). It was a good set-off point for a drive to Snæfellsnes National Park and close to the town of Borgarnes. The owners were helpful and communicative. We would definitely recommend this house to another family.

We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely home just outside of Borgarnes. The furnishings are comfortable and the house is well equipped for whatever cooking, including grilling, you might like to do. There is a hot tub on the back deck and an outdoor shower. The floor-to-ceiling windows offer stunning views of the northern lights. Hosts are responsive and helpful. We definitely recommend Bakki House!

Beautiful property. We were able to enjoy the Northern Lights 6 out of 7 nights. The property is private and has excellent windows in all directions for viewing.

We had a fabulous 3-night stay at this home that is more stunning than the pictures. Picturesque views from the front and back of the house. And the relaxing hot tub after fun days of activities! Host was very responsive when we couldn’t figure out one of the appliances. Highly recommend.

We couldn’t have asked for a better experience in Iceland! One of things that made this vacation enjoyable was this warm and welcoming home we stayed in. The beds were so comfortable, we had some of the best vacation sleep ever! The home is not too far from the town of Borgarnes, where you can find a delicious bakery, grocery stores, and good restaurants. The home has great viewing of the northern lights. The hosts were welcoming and responded quickly to messages that were sent. Everything was well thought out in the home. There was plenty of linens, adapters (in case you forget to bring your own), games for entertainment, cookware, dining ware. The hot tub was set at the perfect temperature. I recommend getting in at night and stargazing. What can I say, we had a wonderful stay, and we cannot wait to come back to Iceland!!!

This house is great - it's really good: Would highly recommend.
- stylish, well furnished, warm, comfortable
- fantastic power shower
- loved the hot tub
Great location
- just over an hour NW of Reyjavik
- halfway between Reyjavik and Snaefellsness. Easy day trip range to all of the key sights and attractions..
- off the main road out in the quiet countryside so you'll get some proper dark skies for stargazing and (if you're lucky) the Northern Lights (we did!).
- 15/20 minutes to the nearest town - Borganes - for shopping.
The hosts/owners have prepared comprehensive instructions for the house and are quick to answer any questions. They obviously take great pride in providing a top quality vacation rental.
Any downsides? If you're not looking for somewhere relaxing and quiet and you want buzzing nightlife then this is probably not the right house, but other than that - no negative points I can think of.

Great property. Great trip.

Lovely house with Plenty of room for all 5 of us, easily could’ve had more people comfortably. The hot tub is a huge plus, and we got to see the northern lights on two of the three nights! We would definitely recommend this property, and would stay again if we make it back to Iceland!
5.0
This home is beautiful and has so many amenities like the hot tub, grill and outdoor seating. There was lots of space, it was beautifully decorated and we had everything we needed to prepare meals in the spacious kitchen. We loved our stay here and highly recommend it!

This house is, essentially, a cabin in the woods that's fully equipped and well-located for exploring the surrounding scenic peninsula.
The owners are helpful and responsive and my number one recommendation would be to follow their advice by reading and downloading access and other instructions before you go. It's located a few miles down a road riddled with potholes and would be difficult to find in the dark.
Our only constructive criticism revolves around how the house is listed. It is most definitely not a two bathroom property. There is one bathroom serving all three bedrooms. When I asked the host about this, he said they offered an outdoor shower and are working on installing a second toilet. Like many other homes in Iceland, there are also a lot of flies buzzing around the place. However, please don't be misled by the presence of flies, the house is very clean and well cared for.
There is an abundance of beds and bedding with the property comfortable able to sleep six, more at a push, though the pressure on that one bathroom would increase with each additional house guest.
For anyone looking for a warm welcome, close to a small town that is an ideal springboard for exploring the local area, this property is highly recommended.

Our family of 4 just arrived home after a week in Iceland and this home was the absolute perfect backdrop for a very special family vacation. As other reviewers have mentioned, this house is private, yet close to the very quaint town center of Borgarnes, making resupplying easy. The house is very clean and well-appointed and has modern appliances and great kitchen amenities. The bedrooms are cozy and the beds are comfortable for sleeping…. And the crowning glory is the hot tub that is always inviting! There is simply nothing more we could have hoped for in our stay there.
Just as important as the house are the owners. It is clearly evident that they take great care in the comfort of their guests in what is provided at the home and in their great communication. Heiðrún is a great communicator and quickly answered any questions we had. She will provide you with an informative packet about the house and also recommendations on local sights to see. Definitely consider her travel information!
We needed something fun to do on our last day that would not be an all-day activity. I’m so happy we took Heiðrún’s recommendation and visited the Haafell Goat Farm not far from the house. I highly recommend this! The owners welcome you with open arms and you can visit and pet the goats and their babies as long as you wish. The owners make their own goat milk ice cream in addition to cheese, cashmere, and soaps. A very charming place…. A true hidden gem for animal lovers.
We saw a ton of sights over the week, but for me, the highlight was the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. It has it all: diverse landscapes, a volcano, glaciers, black sand beaches, waterfalls abounding, and quaint villages. The sheer beauty of the sweeping landscape simply took my breath away. Bring your best camera and do not miss this experience! At the house, you are within striking distance of this one-of-a-kind adventure!
I give our stay at Heiðrún’s property my highest recommendation. Do not hesitate to book this house. You will be so happy you did!
Thank you, Heiðrún, for providing us a perfect home for an incredible family vacation!

Amazing cottage - wonderful secluded location that is still very close to town and well situated for exploring. Beautiful home - great kitchen and living spaces. Amazing beds and bedrooms. Fabulous bathroom and outdoor hot tub. Laundry machine and drier as well. Kids toys were a huge bonus!
The house is more stunning than the pictures
Amazing hosts - easy to interact with, great instructions.
Would come back without question.

The property was just as described. Everything was clean, kitchen well stocked, perfect for two families of four. Close to town to restock on supplies, but far enough to enjoy the peaceful tranquility of the countryside. Thank you so much Heiðrún for your hospitality.

A beautifully peaceful getaway for our family in the gorgeous countryside of Iceland. The open space and many windows were lovely; the hot tub was divine; the bedrooms were so fresh and clean; and the bathroom with laundry was not only gorgeous, but very convenient for washing clothes after a day of hiking!

Great Stay
My family of 4 (two teenage girls myself and husband) stayed 3 nights in June 2022. The property is in excellent condition with all the amenities you need. The kitchen is stocked with all tools a chef would need and having a washer AND dryer was an added bonus. The beds are comfortable and bathroom very spacious with plenty of counter space. Plenty of towels and extra linens. The location allowed us the explore the western peninsula one day, the next we did Reyhokt area with Hraunfosser waterfall (my favorite). On departure day we did the Golden circle back to Reykjavik. The Bonus supermarket nearby had all we needed. Book it you won’t be disappointed.

What a truly wonderful place!
Everything about our stay was superb. The arrangements, help and communication from the owners and of course the accommodation itself which was Scandi chic at its best.
Great facilities, very clean and very modern.
Desperate to go back!

An Epic Experience Outside Borgnares
For my second trip to Iceland, I was looking for a different experience in a different area of the country. I looked north to Borgarnes and found this inviting property outside the city. The pictures do perfect justice and tell the story of a lovely home with warm touches and comfortable furniture in a rural yet lush landscape, The hosts provide all the amenities you need and then some, are communicative, and provide plenty of information on the home and regional destinations, restaurants and businesses. The hot tub was very nice (if a touch to hot for our tastes) and the outdoor grilling area would be perfect n the warmer months. My only recommendation is that the dryer may need replacing as it takes forever to dry the laundry, especially towels. Perhaps I didn't use the proper cycle though :)
I highly recommend this home and on next trip we will book one of their other properties in a different area if they will have us.
