The staff is super kind and the place is super quite

It is super clean, they pick you up at the port when the ferry arrives, they have transport between the beach and the hostel. I asked the owner about snorkeling tours and he kindly sent me information about a nice snorkeling tour. They have a big space for drying clothes and is super quite at night, so you can rest really good.

I wanted to see the sunset at the beach, but they do not have transportation in the afternoon, only mornings, so I had to walk and at night it was a little bit scary. I could not use the wifi and there was no person to ask about it until the next morning when I woke up, the wifi was fixed.

My stay at Kerama Backpacker was exceptional. The welcoming atmosphere, accommodating staff, and convenient marine center on Aharen Beach made for a memorable experience. The owner's efforts to ensure a smooth trip and assistance with ferry bookings were greatly appreciated. Highly recommended.

I lived the stay a lot ! The people are super nice they speak english well and they can give you a drive to the beach or Tokashiki port ! I highly recommend!

Price wise good option to stay .

For the price it is a good option only option on the island for budget . The will bring you to the beach , and also pickup . That is really handy . Also it is really easy to hitchhike because people know you are staying in bed packers . Small community. They are located near ferry terminal, they will pick you up and bring you straight to beach . Luggage can be stored in beach store for arriving day . The have a free washing machine . Work with people that work / stay , they speak good English that is nice and ask how was your day . Because of tyfoon I had to shorten my stay with 1 day , that was free of charge . Appreciated that . Some nice restaurants in area ( if open ) .

the place was fully booked And to crowded for so many people especially when a family of 6 books a family room . Room is very small. Mattress needs a upgrade .Missing a locker for big bag .Sharing kitchen you can hear people speaking that stands up early morning ( no rule for that ). It can be bit cleaner in my opinion , because so many people toilet roll and soap was empty ( no spare ) . That would have been seen / checked by staff. Needs a deep clean especially the bathroom , but think to busy to arrange always fully booked . They have many rules , when you arrive you will get detailed explanation. Pickup is really strict would be nice bit later and bringing time sometime because so small area difficult to be on time and also shower etc . Feels a bit stressful especially in morning . Not many restaurants are open in are .

Perfect to stay on the kerama islands if you want a cheap hostel

Shuttlebus to the beach each day and many opportunities to go snorkling or else. The staff of the hostel were all very friendly and welcoming. The hostel itself is in a great position outside of the small poer city.

The room was clean but in general not really new. I guess it depends on your preferences but for me it was not very comfortable. Also, the shower was very dirty and had a lot of mold.

I had a great stay - the other guests and staff were so kind and helpful! being picked up from the port and daily bus to the beach was a massive benefit. Tokashiki is a wonderful island - the beaches are beautiful, clean and full of turtles

Best hostel i stayed at yet, i felt very welcome and everyone was so warm and welcoming, was treated like family 10/

It was very nice and cozy, never too hot in the dorm even with the high temperatures outside and there was enough space to do indoor activities with people i meet there.

Quiet, clean, friendly and in a great location!

The owner was amazing, so informative and helpful. Also provided free shuttle between Tokashiki and Aharen! The hostel had everything you needed and was really clean. All the staff were super friendly and we felt right at home.

great experience!

super quaint hostel, amazing price point. Morino-San, the owner was incredibly helpful. Full kitchen for use. we had a group of 5 and had our own room. would highly recommend to anyone traveling on a budget. I’d certainly consider staying here again for another Tokashiki visit

Nice place with good value for money

The owner was very kind and speaks great English. They will pick you up at the port when you arrive and take you back to the port on your departure day as well as drive you to the beach in the morning and take you back to the hostel in the evening. They will also take you to the port and back for the Mitsushima if you are planning to visit Zamami. They also own Island’s Trip (a marine sports shop) on Aharen beach and will let you use the showers and locker room there for free. The facilities were all clean and comfortable.

It would be nice if their shuttle service had more time options, since when I went, you could only really go to the beach in the in the morning around 9 and back early in the evening around 4. It’s not a huge problem, though, because the shuttle is already a nice bonus of the accommodation. A tip for if you want to stay out late at Aharen beach and still get back to Kerama Backpackers after the hostel shuttle time is to visit a bar called Nibui - they will drive you back to the hostel for free even very late at night. If you want to get back to Aharen the same night after checking in, there is a bus from the JA supermarket a few minute’s walk from the hostel.

Fantastic hosts and comfortable and clean accommodation in paradise

The staff were fantastic - Morino, Miki and Shin are amazing hosts. They have excellent recommendations and lots of knowledge of the area. Every morning, they take guests to the beaches/ports. There is also a public bus available. The kitchen is well equipped and extremely clean - as were the bathrooms/bedrooms. The dorm beds have electric plugs, night light and storage space and were comfortable. The common room has a TV. Every main room has aircon. There is a local restaurant (Marine Box) with a variety of delicious food and two food shops inc JA which has an ATM The main port is 8 min walk away and there is a local moped rental. Observation points nearby. I recommend the kayak and snorkeling trips (you can book with Morino-san and islands-trip.

Everything was great!

The staff was awesome! We were the only guests during our stay but Nia made us feel welcome and at home. She even gave us a quick island tour of some spots we weren’t able to see the day prior before dropping us off at the port.
